Perspectives Of Hypertensive Black Males Living In Rural Virginia With Sodium Intake, Monitoring, And Reduction, Barbara Chestnut-Adamson Sep 2024

Perspectives Of Hypertensive Black Males Living In Rural Virginia With Sodium Intake, Monitoring, And Reduction, Barbara Chestnut-Adamson

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Sodium reduction therapies such as daily sodium monitoring, adhering to the American Heart Association (AHA) recommended sodium guidelines, and following the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet lowers blood pressure. Black males living in rural communities would benefit the most from sodium reduction therapies since they experience the highest rates of stroke and death from hypertension. However, Black males living in rural communities are underrepresented in studies, and little information exists on whether these sodium reduction therapies are known, believed, or practiced. This basic qualitative study researched sodium intake, monitoring, and reduction among eight clinically diagnosed hypertensive Black males …

Small Signal Stability Analysis Of Power System Considering Railway Traction Load Access, Xiaofeng Jiang, Xiaoyan Han, Pengyu Pan, Gang Chen

Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology

With the rapid development of electrified railways, the traction load of electrified railways has become the largest single load in China's power system, but the impact of its load characteristics on the small-signal stability of the power system is still unclear. Therefore, an equivalent mathematical model of the traction load of electrified railways is established, and based on this, a small-signal model of the power system considering the access of traction loads is constructed. Secondly, using eigenvalue analysis methods, the impacts of locomotive speed, locomotive quantity, and the access location and proportion of traction loads on the small-signal stability of …

Addressing Dispersion In Mis-Measured Multivariate Binomial Outcomes: A Novel Statistical Approach For Detecting Differentially Methylated Regions In Bisulfite Sequencing Data., Kaiqiong Zhao, Karim Oualkacha, Yixiao Zeng, Cathy Shen, Kathleen Klein, Lajmi Lakhal-Chaieb, Aurélie Labbe, Tomi Pastinen, Marie Hudson, Inés Colmegna, Sasha Bernatsky, Celia M T Greenwood

Manuscripts, Articles, Book Chapters and Other Papers

Motivated by a DNA methylation application, this article addresses the problem of fitting and inferring a multivariate binomial regression model for outcomes that are contaminated by errors and exhibit extra-parametric variations, also known as dispersion. While dispersion in univariate binomial regression has been extensively studied, addressing dispersion in the context of multivariate outcomes remains a complex and relatively unexplored task. The complexity arises from a noteworthy data characteristic observed in our motivating dataset: non-constant yet correlated dispersion across outcomes. To address this challenge and account for possible measurement error, we propose a novel hierarchical quasi-binomial varying coefficient mixed model, which …

What Does A Scientist Look Like? Children's Perceptions Of Scientist Gender And Skin Tone, Angelina Joy, Channing J. Mathews, Adam Hartstone-Rose, Kelly Lynn Mulvaney

Purdue Center for Early Learning Faculty and Staff Publications

When asked to draw a scientist, children typically draw a gender stereotypical male representation; however, research has not yet assessed these representations in terms of scientist stereotypical skin tone. The current study examined children's (N = 69, 66.7% female, Mage = 7.60, SD = 2.13) scientist perceptions by analyzing both the gender and skin tone of their scientist drawings as well as stereotypical features represented (lab coats, scientific instruments, etc.). This study also examined how these perceptions as reflected in the drawings were related to children's explicit gender stereotypes and their science growth mindset. Boys were less likely …

Evaluating The Cost Of Classifier Discrimination Choices For Iot Sensor Attack Detection, Mathew Nicho, Brian Cusack, Shini Girija, Nalin Arachchilage

All Works

The intrusion detection of IoT devices through the classification of malicious traffic packets have become more complex and resource intensive as algorithm design and the scope of the problems have changed. In this research, we compare the cost of a traditional supervised pattern recognition algorithm (k-Nearest Neighbor (KNN)), with the cost of a current deep learning (DL) unsupervised algorithm (Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)) in their simplest forms. The classifier costs are calculated based on the attributes of design, computation, scope, training, use, and retirement. We find that the DL algorithm is applicable to a wider range of problem-solving tasks, but …

Rings And Finite Fields Whose Elements Are Sums Or Differences Of Tripotents And Potents, Adel Abyzov, Stephen Cohen, Peter Danchev, Daniel Tapkin

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

We significantly strengthen results on the structure of matrix rings over finite fields and applythem to describe the structure of the so-called weakly n-torsion clean rings. Specifically, we establish that, forany field F with either exactly seven or strictly more than nine elements, each matrix over F is presentableas a sum of of a tripotent matrix and a q-potent matrix if and only if each element in F is presentable as asum of a tripotent and a q-potent, whenever q > 1 is an odd integer. In addition, if Q is a power of an oddprime and F is a field …

A Sufficient Condition For The Wildness Of An Automorphism Of A Free Leibnizalgebra, Zeynep Özkurt

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper, we apply the criterion of Mikhalev and Umirbaev for the invertibility of an endomorphismof a finitely generated free Leibniz algebra via its Jacobian matrix to determine whether a given endomorphism is anautomorphism. Moreover, it is shown that the invertibility of the determinant of the Jacobian matrix of an automorphismimplies its wildness.

A Multivariate To Multivariate Approach For Voxel-Wise Genome-Wide Association Analysis, Qiong Wu, Yuan Zhang, Xiaoqi Huang, Tianzhou Ma, L Elliot Hong, Peter Kochunov, Shuo Chen

Faculty, Staff and Student Publications

The joint analysis of imaging-genetics data facilitates the systematic investigation of genetic effects on brain structures and functions with spatial specificity. We focus on voxel-wise genome-wide association analysis, which may involve trillions of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)-voxel pairs. We attempt to identify underlying organized association patterns of SNP-voxel pairs and understand the polygenic and pleiotropic networks on brain imaging traits. We propose a bi-clique graph structure (ie, a set of SNPs highly correlated with a cluster of voxels) for the systematic association pattern. Next, we develop computational strategies to detect latent SNP-voxel bi-cliques and an inference model for statistical testing. …

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

Ranking crops is a vital part of sustainable farming practices. A deliberate strategy that incorporates multi-criteria decision-making is essential for achieving sustainability in agriculture. The process of choosing crops involves a lot of unknowns and unpredictable elements. The neutrosophic set, characterized by the three independent degrees of truth (T), falsity (F), and indeterminacy (I), is more adept at handling incomplete data. The current study combines single-valued multi-criteria neutrosophic programming with the TOPSIS approach to examine the crop selection process in the Ariyalur district. This study incorporated expert advice and a thorough literature analysis to identify the fundamental criteria for developing …

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

Industrial accidents pose significant risks to human lives, the environment, and economic stability. This study presents a comparative analysis of three plithogenic frameworks—Neutrosophic soft sets, Pythagorean neutrosophic soft sets, and Fermatean neutrosophic soft sets—aiming to model and analyze industrial accidents. The primary objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of these soft sets in handling the uncertainties, complexities, and imprecisions inherent in accident data. Utilizing Dhar's (2021) algorithm for Neutrosophic soft matrices, we introduce a new parameter called a risk score, which consolidates various values for each industry or parameter into a singular magnitude. Our findings indicate that neutrosophic soft sets …

A Study On (Λ − Μ) Zweier Sequences And Their Behaviour In Neutrosophic Normed Spaces, Vakeel A. Khan, Mohd Faisal

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

Ideal convergence of sequences in neutrosophic normed spaces is defined by ¨Omer Ki¸si [12]. This paper defines new sequence spaces using the Zweier matrix and neutrosophic norm. We explore (λ, μ)-Zweier convergence, (λ, μ) ideal convergence of double sequences in neutrosophic norm. We show that a double sequence that is (λ, μ)-Zweier convergent or ideal convergent has a unique limit with respect to neutrosophic norm. Additionally, we prove that (λ, μ)-Zweier ideal convergence is equivalent to (λ, μ)-Zweier ideal Cauchy for a double sequence in neutrosophic normed space.

This study examines the relationships of reading strategies among different English for Specific Purposes (ESP) programs. Ninety-seven students in four ESP programs in Ecuador were surveyed regarding their reading strategies. The results found that there were not significant differences among the four strategies. These findings were dis-cussed regarding whether differences in reading strategies could potentially influence teaching effectiveness, learning outcomes, and English language applications. The survey was administered to a random sample ob-tained from four Ecuadorian universities for 97 ESP students. For the survey, we applied an Indeterminate Likert Scale. Unlike the classic Likert Scale, the indeterminate variant asks the …

A Review On Recent Development Of Neutro-Topology, Bhimraj Basumatary Sep 2024

A Review On Recent Development Of Neutro-Topology, Bhimraj Basumatary

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

Smarandache proposed NeutroAlgebra and AntiAlgebra. NeutroAlgebras and AntiAlgebras are a new research topic based on real-world scenarios. He investigated the concepts of neutro- and anti-structure. He demonstrated using NeutroAlgebra concepts that just because a statement is completely true in a classical Algebra does not imply that it is also completely true in a NeutroAlgebra or AntiAlgebra. It is determined by the operations and axioms on which it is based (whether they are completely true, partially true, totally false, or partially or completely indeterminate). This study examines the concepts of Generalised regular Neutro-Topological space and its properties.

Heptagonal Neutrosophic Quotient Mappings, Subasree R, Basarikodi K, Saeid Jafari, Subramanian K

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

In 2023, [6] Kungumaraj et al. presented the Heptagonal Neurosophic Number and Heptagonal Neurosophic Topology. Heptagonal neutrosophic numbers are essential because they provide a powerful tool for representing and managing uncertainty in decision-making processes across various domains, offering a more nuanced and versatile approach compared to traditional fuzzy or intuitionistic fuzzy sets. Heptagonal neutrosophic methods differ from other neutrosophic methods primarily in the number of parameters they consider and their applications. Heptagonal neutrosophic numbers consider seven parameters, namely truth, falsity, indeterminacy, neutral, anti-neutral, extra-neutral, and pseudo-neutrality. By de-neutrosophication technique, heptagonal neutrosophic numbers transformed into a crisp neutrosophic values for better …

The Role Of Lacunary Statistical Convergence For Double Sequences In Neutrosophic Normed Spaces, Jenifer. P, Jeyaraman. M Sep 2024

The Role Of Lacunary Statistical Convergence For Double Sequences In Neutrosophic Normed Spaces, Jenifer. P, Jeyaraman. M

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

This paper introduces and explores the concept of lacunary statistical convergence of double sequence within the framework neutrosophic normed spaces. Neutrosophic normed spaces extend classical normed spaces by incorporating neutrosophic numbers, which account for the inherent uncertainty, indeterminacy, and vagueness present in real - world data. The study begins by defining lacunary statistical convergence for double sequences in this extended context and proceeds to establish fundamental theorems and properties related to this new notion. In addition, we present a new idea in this context: statistical completeness. We demonstrate that, while neutrosophic normed space is statistically complete, it is not complete.

Improved Method Of Interval Valued Neutrosophic Matrix Composition And Its Application In Medical Diagnosis, S. Sathiya, A. Puspalatha

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

Neutrosophic sets are an important branch of topology that addresses issues with inconsistent, indeterminate, and uncertain situations in everyday life. Interval valued neutrosophic sets, known as subclasses of neutrosophic sets, have been specifically designed to address problems with a set of numbers in the real unit of interval rather than just a single number. Interval valued neutrosophic(IVN) matrix plays an influential role in decision making problems with indeterminant and inconsistent information. The objective of the paper is to discuss the concepts and operations of IVN matrix theory and propose a newly concept of an improved method of IVN matrix composition …

A Neutrosophic Approach For Breast Mass Detection In Digital Mammogram Images, Sofia Jennifer J, Kalaivani C Sep 2024

A Neutrosophic Approach For Breast Mass Detection In Digital Mammogram Images, Sofia Jennifer J, Kalaivani C

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer that affect women and yet there is no substantive cure. On early diagnosis of breast lesions with this size using mammogram would help the affected tumor patients have a good survival rate. Detecting cancer cells is a challenging task and hence we propose a single valued neutrosophic approach for segmenting breast tumor lesions in mammogram images. In this neutrosophic approach, the intensity values are represented as truth, indeterminacy and falsity membership in where the indeterminacy are noise, and the breast regions are the true and falsity values. The computations of these …
