Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: In current research on lane detection, existing algorithms can efficiently detect lane lines under good lighting conditions. However, lane detection in low light still faces the challenge of a high false negative rate. A detection algorithm called Instance Association Net(IANet) is proposed to address this issue by utilizing the structural relationships between lane lines, which is helpful for low light conditions. The algorithm first generates unique masks for different lane lines using features at the starting points of the lane lines and a global feature map, achieving instance-level feature separation of the lane lines. It employs an instance-level attention …

Robot Path Planning Based On Improved A-Ddqn Algorithm, Peilong Ni, Pengjun Mao, Ning Wang, Mengjie Yang

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: An improved A-DDQN algorithm is proposed to address the challenges of reward sparsity and the inability to distinguish sample importance in traditional DQN algorithms during robot path planning. Building on the original DQN, an enhancement is made by incorporating the Double-DQN approach, which updates the predictive Q-value network based on actions selected by the Q network, rather than directly using the predicted Q-values for action selection, thereby mitigating overestimation issues. Secondly, the concept of artificial potential field (APF) is introduced to design specific rewards for each step of the robot's movement, guiding the robot and addressing the problem of …

Toward An Understanding Of Tax Complexity, Daniel Schaffa Sep 2025

Toward An Understanding Of Tax Complexity, Daniel Schaffa

Florida Tax Review

The study of tax complexity has reached consensus on two things. First, complexity pervades the U.S. tax system. And second, it is not always clear what tax complexity means. Indeed, it is common practice for tax complexity scholarship to note the absence of a universal tax complexity definition and then conduct its inquiry without one. A universal definition of tax complexity has proven elusive because tax complexity means many different (although often related) things. This has made the tax policy analysis of complexity challenging. As an alternative to a definition, this Article proposes a framework with four elements for considering …

Born Dry Or Born Wet? A Palette Of Water Growth Histories In Trappist-1 Analogs And Compact Planetary Systems, Howard Chen, Matthew S. Clement, Le Chris Wang, Jesse T. Gu

Aerospace, Physics, and Space Science Faculty Publications

It is still unclear whether exoplanets in compact multiplanet systems such as TRAPPIST-1 are able to accrete large quantities of volatiles, grow to sufficient mass, and maintain robust atmospheres and hydrospheres. Previous estimates of water content in M-dwarf systems have largely relied on population synthesis or atmosphere–interior evolution models, often treating impacts and atmospheric loss in isolation. In this work, we combined impact delivery, impact erosion, and mantle-atmosphere exchange within a unified framework that tracks volatile evolution through stochastic collision histories. By explicitly including both planetesimal accretion and the prolonged luminous pre-main-sequence phase of M dwarfs, we find systematically lower …
