Automatic Detection Of Depression Using A Cnn-Transformer Model Based On Low-Channel Eeg Data, Dongfang Yu, Penghai Li, Fei Su, Kun Wang, Shutong Duan, Ding Yuan

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Background: Accurate and portable diagnostic tools for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) remain a critical unmet need in clinical practice. Electroencephalography (EEG), with its noninvasiveness and high sensitivity, presents an ideal modality, yet traditional multi-channel EEG systems limit clinical convenience and practical deployment. Methods: We developed a novel CNN-Transformer hybrid model using only eight EEG channels selected from frontal regions to detect MDD. Minimal preprocessing steps (basic filtering) were applied to EEG data before the model automatically learned both local and global signal features through convolutional and self-attention mechanisms. We validated this method through comprehensive experiments, including within-dataset and cross-dataset evaluations, …

Industries, Self-Rated Health, And Status Characteristics: An Exploration Of Health In Industries At The Intersection Of Race/Ethnicity, Gender, And Disability, Emmanuel Legarreta

Dissertations and Theses

While industries, occupations, and health outcomes have been widely studied, research has neglected self-rated health (SRH) and the intersectionality of different status characteristics in various industries. Using an IPUMS version of the Current Population Survey, this study explores the possible relationships between industries and SRH. More specifically, it seeks to find if workers' disability status, racial minority status, or gender moderates (i.e., differentiates) the relationship between their industry and SRH. Findings show that certain industries are significant predictors of SRH, and that women with disabilities working in Mining and Construction, and Business and Repair Service have significantly worse SRH than …

Fractional-Order Adaptive Terminal Sliding Mode Control For Synchronization Of Uncertain Chaotic Memristive Chua's Circuit, Dorukhan Asteki̇n, Fati̇h Adigüzel

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Memristive-based chaotic dynamical systems exhibit chaotic behavior with signals of unpredictable complex ity, making it difficult to achieve full synchronization in master-slave systems. Therefore, an advanced synchronization method is required to overcome the chaotic model uncertainties and external disturbances. In this study, a fractional order terminal sliding mode synchronization is proposed for the uncertain memristive chaotic Chua’s circuit. After presenting the integer-order model of the chaotic memristive Chua’s circuit, a fractional-order sliding surface-based non linear synchronization structure, incorporating the fractional derivative operator, is designed. The convergence of the synchronization closed-loop system is proven using Lyapunov theory. To demonstrate its effectiveness …

We deal with Green’s functions (Green’s-f ) for 2-nd order dynamic boundary value problems (BV-P’s) on T. Green’s function is established on T for different situations to solve constructed problems. These results show how important Green’s-f is for mathematical physics on T.

A Combined Dld-Inar(P) Model For Overdispersed Count Data, Norbert Zongo University, Koudougou, Burkina Faso, Tegawende Martin Kabore, O. Jean-Etienne Ouedraogo Sep 2025

A Combined Dld-Inar(P) Model For Overdispersed Count Data, Norbert Zongo University, Koudougou, Burkina Faso, Tegawende Martin Kabore, O. Jean-Etienne Ouedraogo

Baku Mathematical Journal

In this paper, we develop a combined order p integer-valued autoregressive process whose marginal distribution follows the discrete Lindley distribution (DLD) [1]. Referred to as the CDLD-INAR(p) process, this model is particularly suited for modeling count time series exhibiting overdispersion. Formulation of this model is based on the binomial thinning operator introduced by Steutel [8]. Several conditional theoretical properties of the process are established, and its parameters are estimated using the conditional maximum likelihood method. The asymptotic properties of the resulting estimators are also investigated. Finally, the practical relevance of the proposed model is demonstrated through an application to real …

Wavelet-Based Estimation Of Long-Memory Parameter In Stochastic Volatility Models Using A Robust Log-Periodogram, University Of Kara, Kara, Togo, Manganaw Ndaam, Tchilabalo Abozou Kpanzou, Edoh Katchekpele

Baku Mathematical Journal

In this paper, we propose a novel method for estimating the long-memory parameter in time series. By combining the multi-resolution framework of wavelets with the robustness of the least absolute deviations criterion, we introduce a periodogram providing a robust alternative to classical methods in the presence of non-Gaussian noise. Incorporating this periodogram into a log-periodogram regression, we develop a new estimator. Simulation studies demonstrate that our estimator outperforms the Geweke and PorterHudak (GPH) and wavelet-based log-periodogram (WBLP) estimators, particularly in terms of mean squared error, across various sample sizes and parameter configurations.

On One Problem Of Feedback Control Of A Heating System, Azerbaijan State Oil And Industry University, Baku, Azerbaijan, Vagif Abdullayev

Baku Mathematical Journal

We consider a problem of controlling a heating device intended for heating a coolant supplying heat to a closed system is considered. Feedback is used to control the process, in which information about the process state is continuously or discretely received from individual points of the device, where temperature sensors are installed. The mathematical model of the controlled process in both cases is described by a point-loaded first-order hyperbolic equation. Formulas for the gradient of the objective functional of the problem are obtained, allowing the use of first-order numerical optimization methods for solving problems. Numerical experiments are carried out using …

Baku Mathematical Journal

The sequence known as Narayana’s cows sequence is defined by the thirdorder linear recurrence relation Nn = Nn−1 + Nn−3, for n ≥ 3, with the initial values given by N0 = N1 = N2 = 1. In this paper, we explore the class of numbers known as brepdigits that can be represented as the sum of three terms from this sequence. Specifically, we aim to identify all such numbers for bases in the range 2 ≤ b ≤ 30. Our approach relies on precise lower bounds for linear forms in logarithms, along with an enhanced version of the Baker-Davenport …

Diagnosis, Prevention, And Control Of Liquid Accumulation In Horizontal Wellbores For Deep Coalbed Methane: A Case Study Of The Daning-Jixian Block Along The Eastern Margin Of The Ordos Basin, Zeng Wenting, Wang Zhiming, Zhang Lei, Tian Zhida, Zhen Huaibin, Dai Anna, Zeng Quanshu, Sui Tianyang

Coal Geology & Exploration

Objective The Daning-Jixian block on the eastern margin of the Ordos Basin has achieved large-scale production of deep coalbed methane (CBM), with nearly 150 horizontal wells having been put into production. However, with a gradual decrease in formation energy during CBM production, gas wells exhibit declining liquid-carrying capacity. Consequently, liquid accumulation in wellbores has become a major factor affecting deep CBM production. Recovery of deep CBM shows the coexistence of free and desorbed gases, accompanied by significantly varying gas/liquid ratios. Moreover, gas production channels and techniques vary in different production stages. Hence, there is an urgent need to develop a …

Modeling-Based Prediction Of Current Oscillation With The Josephson Frequency In Voltage-Biased Phase-Slip Center Filaments, Armen Gulian

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

In this article, we demonstrate that the voltage-biased phase-slip center (PSC) can act as a direct equivalent (not merely an analogy) of the Josephson effect in Josephson junctions (JJs). We analyze the behavior of PSCs in the case when a constant voltage V is applied to the superconducting filament. The analysis is performed using finite element modeling on the basis of time-dependent Ginzburg–Landau (TDGL) equations. It reveals that the current in the filament oscillates with the Josephson frequency ω = 2eV/h. This fact may have important corollaries in practice.

Parallel Lives: Revitalization Of An Ancient Method Of Inquiry, Geoffrey Thomas Uhal Sep 2025

Parallel Lives: Revitalization Of An Ancient Method Of Inquiry, Geoffrey Thomas Uhal

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

The Parallel Lives style examination and biography is one of the oldest forms of historical inquiry, providing a comparison between a foreign subject and a more familiar subject as a frame of reference. This style of examination was popular for dissertations in the 19th century among military historians writing about generals who were stylistically known as “Great Captains” for much of history. While the moral comparisons of such histories in bygone eras possess less utility, multimodal comparisons of lives that readers have more and less contextual background to provide a model to bridge the gap between foreign and familiar subjects. …

What Is The Relationship Between Herzberg’S Motivation And Hygiene Variables And The Job Satisfaction Of Public Administrators?, Robert Curtis Hayes Sep 2025

What Is The Relationship Between Herzberg’S Motivation And Hygiene Variables And The Job Satisfaction Of Public Administrators?, Robert Curtis Hayes

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

What is the relationship between the variables identified by Herzberg’s motivation-hygiene theory, also known as two-factor theory, and the job satisfaction of public administrators? How can public employers use this theory to advance policies and environments conducive to job satisfaction for their workforces? The problem was a general lack of consensus among the results of scholarly studies investigating the theory. The purpose was to add to the overall body of research toward or against a consensus in a meaningful way. This dissertation employed secondary data to test Herzberg’s theory on bureaucrats. The sample size was limited to the 625,568 workers …
