Life-Cycle-Oriented Selection Framework For Solar Shading Devices In Hot–Arid Building Façades: From Traditional Precedents To Pv-Integrated Systems, Sameh Ahmed Qadry
Mansoura Engineering Journal
Abstract
This study proposes a life-cycle–oriented, computationally light framework for selecting solar shading devices in hot–arid building façades. While previous research has extensively analysed shading performance using detailed simulations, most studies focus on single systems or materials, rarely comparing traditional, modern, and PVintegrated solutions within a unified life-cycle and operation–maintenance perspective. The research addresses this gap by integrating three shading families—traditional local precedents (e.g. mashrabiya, rawshan), modern fixed and dynamic systems, and hybrid PV-integrated façades—into a comparative decision-support framework tailored to hot–arid climates. Methodologically, the study combines: (1) a structured descriptive–analytical literature review with analytical coding of key attributes (design …
The Lexical Richness Of Abdelkebir Khatibi’S Fictional Works, Abdellah Kaaouas
The Lexical Richness Of Abdelkebir Khatibi’S Fictional Works, Abdellah Kaaouas
Faits de Langue et Société (FLS)
This article presents a stylo-statistical analysis of lexical richness across the seven novels of Abdelkébir Khatibi. The objective is to establish an objective classification of these works by quantifying the ratio between word occurrences (N) and distinct vocabulary terms (V). The methodology is based on a comparative approach utilizing several mathematical models: Guiraud’s formula, Muller’s binomial law, and, most notably, Brunet’s [W] index, selected for its ability to neutralize the influence of text length. The results demonstrate that vocabulary density in Khatibi’s work is not chronological but rather tied to specific stylistic choices, establishing La Mémoire tatouée as the most …

Saudi Medical Journal
Radiology artificial intelligence (AI) is advancing however its adoption faces fragile foundations that threaten sustainability. Despite bold promises of efficiency and accuracy, current deployment is undermined by weaknesses in economics, evidence, infrastructure, human factors, regulation, security, and environmental impact. Nearly 90% of radiology AI studies report process metrics rather than patient outcomes, while hidden costs elevate ownership to 400% to 500% of subscription fees. Technical fragilities include 25% or greater performance loss with routine protocol or scanner shifts, compounded by vendor consolidation that has eliminated 63% of companies since 2020, creating migration costs averaging 180,000 dollars per exit. Human factor …

The p53 tumor suppressor protein plays a central role in maintaining genomic stability by regulating cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, and DNA repair under cellular stress. Mouse double minute 2 (MDM2), an E3 ubiquitin ligase, negatively regulates p53 via direct binding and proteasomal degradation. Overexpression or amplification of MDM2 can disrupt this pathway and promote tumorigenesis, even in cancers with wild-type p53. This review outlines the structural features of MDM2, particularly its N-terminal hydrophobic pocket and C-terminal RING domain, and their roles in p53 regulation. We further examine the pathological effects of MDM2 dysregulation and SNPs linked to increased cancer risk. …

Metal dyshomeostasis, particularly involving Cu2+, is increasingly recognized as a key contributor to amyloid-β (Aβ) aggregation and neurotoxicity in Alzheimer’s disease, motivating the development of chelators capable of selectively disrupting pathogenic metal-Aβ interactions without perturbing essential biological metals. Here, we employ steady-state fluorescence anisotropy as a real-time probe of TAMRA-Aβ1–42 rotational mobility to quantify metal-induced aggregation and its reversibility by two chelators with distinct selectivities: EDTA, a broad-spectrum benchmark, and Ni-bme-dach, a sulfur-rich metallodithiolate with high Cu affinity. Cu2+ induces the most significant increases in anisotropy, consistent with rapid formation of large nanoscale aggregates, while Fe3+ produces moderate aggregation and …

Explanations For Machine Learning Pipelines Under Data Drift, Jahid Hasan, Romila Pradhan
Purdue Polytechnic Graduate Student Poster Symposium
Ensuring the robustness of data preprocessing pipelines is essential for maintaining the reliability of machine learning model performance in the face of real-world data shifts. Traditional methods optimize preprocessing sequences for specific datasets but often overlook their vulnerability to future data variations. This research introduces a vulnerability score to quantify the susceptibility of preprocessing components to data shift. We propose a Linear Regression approach to establish a predictive relationship between the vulnerability of the pipeline components and changes in the model’s performance. The generated relationships act as explanations for practitioners of the system and help them quantify the robustness of …
