The Servant’S Ear: Study Of The Servant In Whom Yhwh Is Well Pleased: An Expositional Connection Of Exodus 21:5-6 And Deuteronomy 15:16-17 To The Servants Of Revelation, Warren Eugene Hoskins

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

This dissertation undertakes an extensive investigation into the theological, historical, and literary development of the biblical servant motif. This study examines the evolution of the concept of servitude, beginning with its origins in Ancient Near Eastern (ANE) laws and culture.

It is anchored in the tradition of ear-piercing for the willing servant, as outlined in Exodus 21:5-6 and Deuteronomy 15:16-17. This research unpacks how ideas about servitude changed in the Old Testament law and how this relates to the end times and the early church, as described in Revelation. This study also compares Old Testament servant laws with those of …

A Proposed Study Of Tone Indicators In Sentimental Analysis And Emotion Detection, Andrea Llanas Dec 2025

A Proposed Study Of Tone Indicators In Sentimental Analysis And Emotion Detection, Andrea Llanas

Infinite Loop

Sentimental analysis and emotion detection have been an ever-growing field in academic literature in recent years [1,2,3]. There are many methods and techniques to distinguish positive and negative tokens as well as classification of emotions respectively. However, the use of tone indicators has been relatively underexplored within the field.

Tone indicators are a relatively recent trend in social media. Users denote a positive or negative connotation as well as an emotion in a sentence at the moment of conception with syntax such as “/s,” “/pos,” and “/neg.” These annotations often are context-free, or do not depend on previously declared information, …

Theorising The Everyday Sporting Lives Of Africans, Manase K. Chiweshe Dec 2025

Theorising The Everyday Sporting Lives Of Africans, Manase K. Chiweshe

Journal of Global South Sport Studies

Sport in Africa is often studied through the lenses of elite competitions, colonial legacies, or development agendas, yet the everyday sporting practices of ordinary Africans remain under-theorised. This paper focuses on African agency in producing sporting cultures. Drawing on ethnographic research conducted across Zimbabwe, I argue that informal football matches, schoolyard games, and community fitness rituals are not merely recreational but rather sites of meaning-making, resistance, and social negotiation. Theoretical frameworks from African sociology (e.g., Nyamnjoh’s incompleteness and Mbembe's banality of power) illuminate how sport operates as a terrain of ordinary ingenuity, where tactics such as repurposed equipment, self-organised leagues, …

Anti-Racist Practices Are Always The Answer: Fixing The Gap In Literacy Instruction For Black And Brown Students, Natalie Sticht

Soaring: A Journal of Undergraduate Research

Disparities among Black and White students in reading proficiency are stark. Specifically, these disparities can be seen by comparing the average test scores of RCSD, a racially segregated public school district, and that of all of New York State. This disparity is hugely important because literacy skills are the cornerstone of education. Along with literacy being necessary in the field of education, it is essential in the fields of communication and neuroscience. A potential solution to this problem is by integrating multiple dialects of English into English classrooms, namely African American Vernacular English [AAVE] and other dialects that students speak …

Reinforcement Learning-Guided Large Language Model Fine-Tuning For Privacy-Preserving Text Rewriting, Zhan Shi, Yefeng Yuan, Liang Cheng, Yuhong Liu

Computer Science and Engineering

The advancement of machine learning systems depends on large-scale, high-quality datasets. However, corpora drawn from user-generated and proprietary domains are often laden with sensitive information, posing significant privacy, security, and compliance risks. Conventional anonymization methods, which focus on removing explicit identifiers, can degrade downstream performance and leave the more nuanced challenge of implicit privacy leakage unresolved. This form of leakage allows for sensitive attributes such as author identity, demographics, or personality to be inferred from writing style alone. To address this, we present a privacy-preserving text rewriting framework based on guided reinforcement learning. Our approach features a composite reward function …

Translation of Islamic religious texts poses unique challenges requiring both linguistic and theological expertise. This study explores the application of neural machine translation (NMT) models to Arabic-English hadith translation while analyzing semantic similarity patterns across different human translations. Using the complete Sahih Bukhari corpus (7,550 hadiths) as the primary dataset, we adopt a dual approach combining transfer learning and comprehensive neural network analysis to demonstrate the critical impact of corpus size on model performance.

First, we fine-tune a pre-trained MarianMT Arabic-English translation model on the full Sahih Bukhari corpus, comparing models trained on 40 hadiths versus 7,550 hadiths. Performance is …

Pathways To Possibility: A Multilingual Perspective In Community Colleges, Alex Matson Dec 2025

Pathways To Possibility: A Multilingual Perspective In Community Colleges, Alex Matson

Master's Projects and Capstones

Community Colleges (CCs) play a vital role within both their local communities and the broader American educational system. This study examines the role of the community college, with particular attention to its English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programs, and the structural dynamics of public funding. Despite the recognized significance of community colleges, the allocation of public funding, distinctly for ESOL programs, continues to reflect structural imbalances. Although research demonstrates the significance of community colleges in widening learning opportunities for marginalized students, critical pedagogy reminds us that educational access remains structurally unequal.

Emerging research indicates that the transformation of placement …

Medicaid Funding And Health-Related Social Needs: A Policy Analysis, Passion Ilea Dec 2025

Medicaid Funding And Health-Related Social Needs: A Policy Analysis, Passion Ilea

Dissertations and Theses

The U.S. has disproportionately high health care spending compared to other high-income nations and comparatively poor health outcomes. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have recently increased emphasis on addressing Medicaid member social needs. CMS believes addressing health-related social needs (HRSN) may reduce costs and improve health outcomes for Medicaid members. CMS has begun to test theories regarding the impact of member HRSN on health care by designing federal mechanisms to address HRSN, such as in lieu of services and settings-funded services, and by encouraging state Medicaid programs to develop their own approaches, such as Flexible Services. Information …

Unraveling Sociomaterial Trajectories: A Qualitative Network Analysis Of Material, Human, And Nonhuman Entanglement In The Diy Material Project, Kazzmasa Tsujimura, Yasuaki Kakehi

IASDR Conference Series

This paper investigates the sociomateriality of collective creation in a practice-led design project, addressing how entanglement occurs in material-centric processes where it often remains largely unarticulated. Adopting a sociomaterial ontology, we employ qualitative network analysis (QNA) to trace sociomaterial trajectories of the DIY Material project. Our analysis identified 12 diverse actors (e.g., humans, tools, knowledge…) in five clusters, and 22 sociomaterial entanglement 'events' classified into three types: Material Emergence, Social Intra-action, and Sociomaterial Assemblage. The resulting network visualizes these moments, explicating their role in instantiating inter subjective design ideas and contributing to project formation, offering a new methodological lens for …
