Textual (In)Difference In State Search-And-Seizure Provisions, Quinn Yeargain Aug 2026

Textual (In)Difference In State Search-And-Seizure Provisions, Quinn Yeargain

Northwestern University Law Review

Over the past 250 years, state constitutional drafters have refined the scope of rights and liberties protected by their constitutions’ texts. Today, all state constitutions include a search-and-seizure provision—and though only a minority follow the layout, text, and context of the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, most of them bear a striking resemblance to it. However, textual variations abound. Some of them may seem minor, like using the word “possessions” instead of “effects,” or mandating that warrants describe their intended targets “as nearly as may be” instead of requiring that they “particularly describ[e]” them. But others, like the addition …

Editorial Commentary (Special Issue): Cricket And Politics, Roy Mccree, Kamilla Swart, Umer Hussain Aug 2026

Editorial Commentary (Special Issue): Cricket And Politics, Roy Mccree, Kamilla Swart, Umer Hussain

Journal of Global South Sport Studies

Cricket’s global history cannot be separated from the political histories through which the game has traveled. Although cricket emerged as an instrument of British imperial culture, it has also become a medium of postcolonial agency, commercial expansion, diasporic belonging, and resistance to inherited hierarchies. This special issue examines those tensions across the Caribbean, Aotearoa New Zealand, India, and the United States. The four contributions analyze foreign investment and cultural extractivism in West Indies cricket; the reproduction and contestation of Pākehā norms in a cricket workplace; the glocalization of Indian Premier League (IPL) capital and culture through Major League Cricket (MLC); …

Reimagining Education Through Intuitive Interspecies Communication: Listening, Learning, And Belonging Beyond The Human, Avantika Mathur, Megan Tucker, Anita Vallala, Cathrine Nyquist

Journal of Contemplative and Holistic Education

Conventional educational paradigms have long been shaped by worldviews that centre human rationality, and exclude the agency, intelligence, and communicative capacity of non-human beings. While holistic and contemplative education movements have begun to open space for alternative approaches, a broader reconceptualization is needed – one that embraces the living world as intelligent, interconnected, and full of meaning.

This submission explores intuitive interspecies communication (IIC), described as the direct, non-verbal exchange between humans and other animals that draws on intuitive capacities. IIC is widespread and growing rapidly as a global professional practice, and academic interest in this topic has expanded in …

In The Problem Lies The Solution: How Digital Mindfulness Can Address The College Students’ Mental Health Crisis And Support Holistic Education, Steve Haberlin

Journal of Contemplative and Holistic Education

The mental health of today’s college students remains a serious concern. The alarming trend of greater psychological distress among undergraduates shows no signs of slowing. Excessive smartphone usage, screen time, and social media have been attributed as partial factors. However, what if forms of digital mindfulness and technology-assisted contemplative practices are the key to assisting students with stress, anxiety, depression and other problems? In this article, the author posits that innovations, such as neurofeedback-loop meditation platforms that dramatically increase focus, virtual reality platforms featuring in depth-meditation instruction, and Artificial Intelligence have the potential to address the crisis, establishing a refreshed …

Journal of Contemplative and Holistic Education

In a new academic environment, international students often face more than just academic challenges, as they also navigate cultural adjustment, identity shifts, digital overload and emotional stress. These multidimensional challenges are further intensified by performance pressures and rapidly evolving educational technologies. This article explores the role of meditation as a contemplative practice that may support international students’ adaptation within the American higher education system. The article focuses on how international students draw upon inner strength, purpose, and resilience to navigate and sustain themselves through periods of transition and difficulty. Using autoethnography as a primary methodological approach, the authors analyze their …

The Calculus Of Difference: Pluralism And Integration Through Education In India, Deepa Srikantaiah Aug 2026

The Calculus Of Difference: Pluralism And Integration Through Education In India, Deepa Srikantaiah

Journal of Contemplative and Holistic Education

This paper introduces a calculus-based conceptual framework to examine how India sustains pluralistic integration across its extraordinary religious, linguistic, and cultural diversity. Drawing on mathematical principles of integration, continuity, and the Infinity Principle, the analysis demonstrates how social cohesion emerges from sustained attention to the infinitesimal: the localized communities, languages, and practices that constitute India's complex social fabric. The framework positions education as the primary integrative mechanism, functioning analogously to the mathematical process of integration by decomposing social complexity into comprehensible parts and reassembling them into collective understanding.

Through historical analysis spanning from the Indus Valley Civilization to contemporary India, …

Can Ai Pass The Us Army War College?, Kevin M. Boyce, John A. Nagl, Kristan J. Wheaton

The US Army War College Quarterly: Parameters

The US Army War College oral comprehensive examination serves as the institution’s capstone, measuring its senior officers’ strategic thinking. In early 2026, three faculty panels applied that standard to four leading commercial artificial intelligence (AI) systems: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Grok. Prompted without core curriculum materials, all four models passed. Unlike static benchmarks, the examination’s impromptu dialogue format revealed meaningful performance differences that were invisible in general-purpose evaluations, with one model performing at a statistically significant advantage. These findings challenge how the Department of War assesses commercial AI for strategic applications and point toward domain-specific, dialogue-based benchmarking as a more …

Biki: Design Overhaul, Meg Rawson Aug 2026

Biki: Design Overhaul, Meg Rawson

Computer Science and Engineering Senior Theses

For children from bilingual households, kindergarten can represent both an introduction to formal mathematics education and a period of increased exposure to the English language. Students may therefore be learning foundational mathematical concepts while simultaneously developing the English vocabulary used to describe those concepts. BiKi (Bilingual Math for Kindergartners) was developed to help bridge this gap through an educational application that combines visual, auditory, and interactive learning activities to reinforce mathematical vocabulary in both English and a student’s home language.

This work builds upon the existing BiKi application while maintaining its original educational goals and intended audience. The primary focus …

Managing Solar-Powered Digital Education Infrastructure: Institutional Capacity, Financing, And Sustainability In Rural India, Suresh Banoth, Udaya Muthyala, Jyothsna Bethala Aug 2026

Managing Solar-Powered Digital Education Infrastructure: Institutional Capacity, Financing, And Sustainability In Rural India, Suresh Banoth, Udaya Muthyala, Jyothsna Bethala

Journal of Management for Global Sustainability

Solar-powered digital infrastructure is increasingly being promoted as a sustainable solution for rural education; however, its long-term viability depends less on technological deployment than on institutional management capacity. This study examines how solar-powered digital classrooms (SPDCs) are governed, financed, and sustained in eleven rural government schools in Telangana, India. Drawing on the Technology Acceptance Model and an institutional perspective on sustainability, the study conceptualizes renewable energy integration as a public-sector management process rather than a purely technological intervention. An exploratory case study design was employed using semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and institutional document analysis. The findings indicate that while solar …

Cheap Talk, Deepfakes, Epistemic Injustice, False Light, And Free Speech, Cosim Sayid Aug 2026

Cheap Talk, Deepfakes, Epistemic Injustice, False Light, And Free Speech, Cosim Sayid

Idaho Law Review

Defamation is a more or less effective tool in tort law to stop damage to one’s reputation, which can be grievous and even lead to a death of despair, but its scope is limited to content that’s literally false. Much reputational harm does not proceed via literally false content; it is a matter of images or what’s implied. Against this opponent an effective False Light tort is of much use when properly understood as a reputational—rather than privacy—tort. False Light can be wielded against conversational implicature as well as deepfakes. It fulfills our moral imperative to not succumb to cheap …

Contextualizing Second Language Anxiety In Multilingual Higher Education: Classroom Conditions And Clinical Settings, Busayo O. Ige Aug 2026

Contextualizing Second Language Anxiety In Multilingual Higher Education: Classroom Conditions And Clinical Settings, Busayo O. Ige

International Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education

In South African universities, multilingual students whose first language is not English face distinct challenges that impact academic participation and success. This qualitative study examines how second language (L2) anxiety shapes first-year students’ classroom and clinical experiences at the University of Cape Town. Drawing on open-ended survey data, the study reveals that fear of negative evaluation, communicative apprehension, and prevailing language ideologies contribute to students’ reluctance to speak, feelings of invisibility, and withdrawal from engagement. Although anxiety tends to lessen over time, it rarely disappears completely. Notably, students experienced anxiety differently across settings: classroom discussions elicited greater fear and self-censorship, …

How Planning For Engineering Instruction Supported Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Pedagogy For Prek–12 Teachers, Kristen V. Napolitano, Amanda M. Gunning, Meghan E. Marrero Aug 2026

How Planning For Engineering Instruction Supported Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Pedagogy For Prek–12 Teachers, Kristen V. Napolitano, Amanda M. Gunning, Meghan E. Marrero

Journal of Pre-College Engineering Education Research (J-PEER)

With the wide adoption of the Next Generation Science Standards across the United States and an increased focus on growing a diverse engineering workforce, learning to teach precollege engineering has become more important than ever. Yet limited precollege engineering certification pathway exists, leaving preK–12 teachers to integrate engineering with few resources or professional learning support. In high-need districts, where teachers are already underresourced and stretched thin, engineering may not make its way into the classroom at all. As a result, access to engineering and other STEM opportunities is disproportionately low among Black and Brown and/or low-income students in these communities, …

Business Management Review

This study examined the influence of Mobile Financial Inclusion (MFI) on the Performance of SACCOs business (PSB) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Through the Resource-Based View (RBV), the study assessed how the ability to save money (SM), transfer money (TM), and access to financial information Access (FIA) shape PSB as guided by the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). The data were collected from 226 SACCOs using mail survey self-administered questionnaires, and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) in Smart-PLS. The findings reveal that all three independent variables SM, TM, and FIA positively and significantly, enhanced PSB. The results further show …

Agrarian Festivals Of India- Embedded Traditional Knowledge About Environment And Ecology Preserved Across Millennia, Lopamudra Maitra Aug 2026

Agrarian Festivals Of India- Embedded Traditional Knowledge About Environment And Ecology Preserved Across Millennia, Lopamudra Maitra

International Journal of Traditional Knowledge

With a prominent agrarian economy, it is important to note the many agrarian festivals from across the nation. These festivals also help to highlight many rites, rituals and folklore, which forms the basic ethos of the celebrations and within the many layers of these are embedded knowledge about environment and ecology, which has been passed down through thousands of centuries. These have also been variously corroborated through archaeological, historical and epigraphical records of ancient India. This paper is an attempt to highlight this historicity of the agrarian festivals of India, which also corresponds to the mainstream festivals from across India, …

The Influence Of Managerial Attitudes And Dynamic Capabilities On E-Marketing Adoption Among Small And Medium Tourism Enterprises, Hilal Maabad Ame, Omari Khalifa Mbura, Amani Gration Tegambwage Aug 2026

The Influence Of Managerial Attitudes And Dynamic Capabilities On E-Marketing Adoption Among Small And Medium Tourism Enterprises, Hilal Maabad Ame, Omari Khalifa Mbura, Amani Gration Tegambwage

Arab Economic and Business Journal

This study examines how managerial attitudes and dynamic capabilities shape e-marketing adoption among Small and Medium Tourism Enterprises (SMTEs) in Zanzibar, using PLS-SEM on survey data from 216 SMTEs in the Urban-West and South Regions. Drawing on the Decomposed Theory of Planned Behaviour and Dynamic Capabilities Theory, the study finds that perceived ease of use and perceived security significantly increase adoption, while perceived usefulness and compatibility significantly decrease it suggesting that recognising a technology's value is insufficient without the operational capacity to act on it. Supporting this, dynamic capabilities significantly strengthen the usefulness–adoption and compatibility–adoption relationships, but show no moderating …

How Does The Science Of Reading Approach Enhance Small Reading Group Instruction?, Destiny M. Morman Aug 2026

How Does The Science Of Reading Approach Enhance Small Reading Group Instruction?, Destiny M. Morman

Graduate Teacher Education

This paper examined how the Science of Reading (SOR) practices enhance student success in small-group reading. Specifically, the purpose of this research is to analyze which SOR-aligned instructional practices are the most beneficial for promoting student success in small-group settings and to examine practices that may be less effective. Effective reading practices are crucial for small-group instruction (Smith et al., 2022). When instruction is strategically designed around students’ specific reading needs, educators can provide a more targeted and personalized support that may be difficult to achieve during whole-group instruction. During small-group learning, teachers can differentiate instruction by aligning lessons with …

A New Reptile Search Algorithm For An Intelligent Video Retrieval System, Ansam Nazar Younis, Fawziya Mahmood Ramo Aug 2026

A New Reptile Search Algorithm For An Intelligent Video Retrieval System, Ansam Nazar Younis, Fawziya Mahmood Ramo

Baghdad Science Journal

The increasing volume of videos produced and shared via smart devices has made indexing and retrieving them a clear challenge. Current retrieval systems, such as specialized video retrieval systems, rely on text-based searches, which often misrepresent and frequently result in erroneous descriptions of the requested video, particularly when it comes to videos about certain specialities like security or medical procedures that are hard to describe. As a result, we developed a model that handles information-rich video queries, making it easier to find related videos that are specifically relevant to the user's needs. This paper proposes a new method for indexing …

How Non-Secular Leaders In Culturally Homogeneous Faith-Based Organizations Understand And Experience Cultural Intelligence Training, Marlon Anthony Ayers Aug 2026

How Non-Secular Leaders In Culturally Homogeneous Faith-Based Organizations Understand And Experience Cultural Intelligence Training, Marlon Anthony Ayers

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Over the past five decades, shifts in U.S. immigration policy, demographic change, and civil rights reforms have increased cultural diversity across the U.S. workforce, while many faith based leaders lack the cultural intelligence (CQ) needed to navigate diverse interactions effectively. Non secular leaders in culturally homogeneous faith based organizations (FBOs) need to understand this concern as a leading indicator of challenges associated with cross-cultural engagement, organizational effectiveness, and community inclusion. The specific research problem is that it is unknown how non-secular leaders in culturally homogeneous FBOs understand and experience the challenges of managing cultural diversity in the absence of CQ …

Connecting Vocabulary And Reading Comprehension For English Language Learners In Kindergarten Through Sixth Grade, Alicia L. Chimchirian Aug 2026

Connecting Vocabulary And Reading Comprehension For English Language Learners In Kindergarten Through Sixth Grade, Alicia L. Chimchirian

Graduate Teacher Education

This paper analyzed current research on English Language Learners’ (ELL) understanding anduse of vocabulary as it applies to reading comprehension in kindergarten through sixth grade. This topic is discussed through research findings that consider multilingual students’ language backgrounds and experiences, academic language development, reading interventions, vocabulary development, reading strategies, and primary-language-to-English transfer. Research indicates that students learning English as an additional language benefit from consistent, structured vocabulary instruction and from making connections to targeted words through morphology, syntactic awareness, and social interaction. Also, these students showed improvement in reading comprehension with modeled support from educators who encouraged L1-to-L2 language transfer skills. …

Restorative Practices And Resilience Among Trauma-Impacted Elementary Students, Rose E. Ostenson Aug 2026

Restorative Practices And Resilience Among Trauma-Impacted Elementary Students, Rose E. Ostenson

Graduate Teacher Education

This paper examined how restorative practices may promote resilience among trauma-impacted elementary school students. Fifteen peer-reviewed studies were analyzed to address the following research question: How do restorative practices promote resilience among trauma-impacted students in elementary schools? Three consistent themes emerged from the literature: relationship building and relational safety, school connectedness and belonging, and emotional regulation and co-regulation. These themes represent crucial protective factors associated with resilience among children who have experienced trauma. Although resilience was not directly measured in most of the studies reviewed, the findings consistently suggested that restorative practices may strengthen the relational, social, and emotional conditions …

From Competition To Complementarity: A Case Study Of Arabic-English Language Ideologies At University Of Bisha, Ahmed Yahya Mohammed Al-Hakami

UB Journal for Humanities

This study investigates the coexistence of, and tension between, Arabic and English language ideologies in Saudi higher education, focusing on University of Bisha as a case study. Drawing on quantitative data from online questionnaires (N = 138), this study examines how Arabic and English are ideologically valued, legitimised, and contested across three dimensions, namely identity, academic learning, and status. Using robust statistical analyses, including correlation and repeated-measures testing, the analysis tests whether these ideologies function primarily as competing forces, privileging one language at the expense of the other, or as complementary resources that support students’ academic experience and professional ambition. …

The Impact Of Variant Transmission In Abū Tammām’S Kitāb Al-Ḥamāsah: The Chapter Of Al-Ḥamāsah As A Case Study, Nawal Abdullah Ibrahim Yusuf Al-Zahrani Aug 2026

The Impact Of Variant Transmission In Abū Tammām’S Kitāb Al-Ḥamāsah: The Chapter Of Al-Ḥamāsah As A Case Study, Nawal Abdullah Ibrahim Yusuf Al-Zahrani

UB Journal for Humanities

This study examines the impact of variant readings in the Hamasa by Abu Tammam, focusing on the Chapter of Valor as an applied model. It is based on the premise that variation in transmission is a textual phenomenon that affects the semantic meaning, syntactic structure, and rhetorical value of the poetic text, rather than being merely superficial lexical variation. The research problem lies in the multiplicity of variant readings, which leads to differences in meaning and interpretation, raising questions about the nature and stability of the poetic text. The study aims to analyze the impact of these variations on …
