Speaking anxiety in English remains a significant barrier to effective communication among language learners, particularly in academic settings. This qualitative phenomenological study explores the lived experiences of Andrew (a pseudonym), a university professor who experienced intense English speaking anxiety during his undergraduate years. Through in -depth interviews, the study investigates the coping strategies he employed and how these contributed to his eventual communicative competence. The findings reveal five key strategies used to manage his anxiety: participation in a community development camp (social support), self -reflection and mental imitation (cognitive strategy), recitation of religious texts (spiritual grounding), physical adjustment during presentations …

This study aims to develop teaching materials for the concept of Pancasila and Citizenship Education based on Higher Order Thinking Skills to improve the learning outcomes of fifth grade students. This study is a development research with a descriptive quantitative research method through the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Language barriers significantly impact the academic achievement and motivation of international students at Universitas Indonesia, where Bahasa Indonesia is the primary medium of instruction. This study explores how linguistic challenges affect students' ability to engage in coursework, participate in discussions, and integrate into academic and social life. A quantitative research approach was employed, using a Google Form-based questionnaire distributed to international students, yielding 72 responses. Descriptive statistical analysis revealed that over 90% of students faced challenges in academic writing, lecture comprehension, and subject-specific terminology, leading to reduced confidence and lower academic performance. This study aims to discover factors that assist learners develop their autonomy in EFL reading. The approach employed is qualitative involving EFL learners in an English Department of the Faculty of Cultural Studies, Brawijaya University Malang. There are two stages in the study: the subject selection stage intended to gain potential subjects and the main study intended to find the answer of the research questions. The present study explored verbal and nonverbal communication strategies (CSs) employed by learners both as message senders (speakers) and as message receivers (listeners) in English in a speaking class. It employed a qualitative design with an ethonography of communication approach in a limited situation setting (speaking class). Thirty two students taking Speaking II subject at the English Education of IKIP Mataram were selected by using a purposeful technique. Background: Major depressive disorder (MDD) affects approximately 21 million U.S. adults annually. Nearly 22% of individuals in the United States speak a language other than English at home. Language-based exclusion criteria in clinical trials may limit participation of non-English-speaking populations and reduce external validity in psychiatric research.
Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of English-language requirements in U.S.-based adult depression clinical trials and assess the availability of translation accommodations.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional review of U.S.-based interventional clinical trials listed on ClinicalTrials.gov. Adult (≥18 years) trials focused on major depressive disorder were included. Pediatric-only trials were excluded. Trials were assessed …

The underrepresentation of bilingual students and students from diverse cultural backgrounds in gifted education programs remains a persistent equity concern in the United States. As of 2021, 10% of public school students were emerging bilinguals, yet they comprise only 3% of gifted education classrooms (Serrano, 2019). This disparity highlights systemic barriers in identification and placement practices.
This presentation will provide a comprehensive review of research on gifted identification practices and their impact on emerging bilinguals, with the goal of promoting increased equity in education and improving understanding of how better practices can be implemented.

In this presentation, I consider some benefits and issues of the use of narrative texts for linguistic research. The discussion is framed by the analysis of the Séliš-Ql̓ispé suffix -m based on narratives transcribed by Hans Vogt in 1937. The stories were recounted by One-Eyed Tom and translated into English for Vogt by Joe Abrahamson. The data in this presentation is taken from Camp 2007 and Ward 2008, two interlinearizations (morpheme by morpheme analyses) of several of the Vogt texts. The study intends to describe the level of certified EFL teachers’ self-assessment of their competence to teach English. A cross-sectional survey design and systematic random sampling strategy were applied to take 227 research respondents. Questionnaire and interview were used for collecting data whereas frequency, percentage and descriptive statistics were employed to analyze the data. Most respondents self-rated their abilities to teach English at ‘competent’ and ‘strongly competent’ levels. The subjects of this study were students from grade X, XI, and XII of SMAN 2 Lamongan. The main instruments of the study were the writing prompt and narrative guidelines. This study portrayed a profile of exemplary EYL teachers’ competence indicators of pedagogical and professional implementation and personal and social manifestation. The research involved seven subjects. The data were collected through interviews, observations, field-notes and documentary studies and they were analyzed by a snow-balling procedure. The study found out that the subjects performed professional competences which classified them as exemplary EYL teachers at the elementary school. This study was aimed to improve the students’ ability in writing recount text through mind mapping strategy. The subjects of the study was the 20 second graders of SMPN 2 Lumbang Probo linggo. This was a classroom action research conducted in one cycle that consisted of five meetings. The mind mapping strategy was done through process writing, in the first three stages, pre-writing, drafting, and revising. The findings showed that the use of mind mapping strategy could improve the students’ abilities in writing recount text. Influence Of Co-Curricular Activities On Senior Secondary School Students’ Academic Achievement In English Language In Nigeria

This paper investigates the influence of co-curricular activities on Senior Secondary School Students’ achievement in Nigeria. The variables to be considered are Press club and Literary and debating society, the involvement period, and their academic achievement. Eight out of 17 secondary schools are randomly selected with one hundred students from each school. The questionnaires for the data collection are on students’ personal data and twelve questions on press club and literary and debating society. The mock examination results show that there is a positive significant influence in co-curricular activities on senior secondary school students’ academic achievement in English.

This study is aimed (1) to uncover the causes of language disorders in children who have SLI, (2) deficits in the language of children with SLI, (3) illustrates the carrying on multi-sensory in tervention stimulation, and (4) describe the development of language skills children who have SLI after undergoing multi-sensory stimulation intervention.
