Designing Classifact: Towards A Transparent And Secure Platform For Stakeholder-In-The-Loop Data Annotation, Philippine Waisvisz Sep 2026

Designing Classifact: Towards A Transparent And Secure Platform For Stakeholder-In-The-Loop Data Annotation, Philippine Waisvisz

Communications of the IIMA

AI systems depend on human judgment, yet many annotation workflows are either designed for data-science specialists or managed through external commercial platforms. The first approach may demand more technical skills than relevant stakeholders possess. The second can require organizations to transfer data, expertise, and governance to an outside provider. Both can limit the involvement of people who understand what data means in its real-world context. Human-in-the-loop approaches introduce human judgment. Stakeholder-in-the-loop annotation focuses on selecting and organizing people whose contextual knowledge fits the AI application.

This paper presents Classifact, a transparent and secure platform for stakeholder-in-the-loop data annotation and validation. …

A Transformer-Based Approach With Data Augmentation For Multilabel Emotional Context Detection, Mohsin Hasan Hussein, Marem H. Abdulabas, Azha Talal Mohammed Ali, Homam Aziz Ghazi

Al-Bahir

Emotion identification in texts is becoming increasingly difficult because of the wide variety of ways emotions are represented. This study uses a fine-tuned Robustly Optimized Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers Approach

(RoBERTa) to offer a Transformer-based model for identifying multilabel emotional context in textual data. To balance emotion categories and enhance the model's capacity for generalization, data augmentation is applied on two different datasets: Semantic Evaluation and Cross-lingual Emotion Dataset (SemEval and XED) English corpus. This stage is considered one of the most important steps in preprocessing as it greatly helps to improve the results. The RoBERTa model was then …

More Than Storytime: Intentional Read-Alouds For Literacy Instruction And Formative Observation, Shelia Tate

Spark! Innovations in Early Childhood Education: A Research-to-Practice Journal for Educators

Read-alouds have long been valued in early childhood classrooms for promoting engagement, enjoyment, and a love of reading. When intentionally planned, they can also reinforce foundational literacy skills and provide formative information about student understanding. This article examines how early childhood educators can move read-alouds beyond a familiar classroom routine by connecting them to specific literacy objectives and using student responses to guide subsequent instruction. The IPAQ process (Intentional Choice, Preplanning the Focus, Anticipating Misconceptions, and Questioning and Responses for Formative Observation) provides a practical framework for planning purposeful read-alouds. Classroom examples illustrate how teachers can use planned interactions and …

Comparative Analysis Of Takagi-Sugeno And Mamdani Fuzzy Inference Architectures With Anfis-Based Automated Rule Generation For Eeg-Based Cognitive State Monitoring, Amina Radončić, Mehrija Hasičić, Jasmin Kevrić Sep 2026

Comparative Analysis Of Takagi-Sugeno And Mamdani Fuzzy Inference Architectures With Anfis-Based Automated Rule Generation For Eeg-Based Cognitive State Monitoring, Amina Radončić, Mehrija Hasičić, Jasmin Kevrić

Communications of the IIMA

Fuzzy inference systems have demonstrated considerable promise for EEG-based cognitive state monitoring in neurodegenerative conditions. However, two design decisions significantly influence system performance and clinical applicability: the choice of inference architecture (Takagi-Sugeno vs Mamdani) and the method of rule and membership function generation (manual expert-driven vs data-driven automated). This paper presents a comparative analysis of both dimensions in the context of an EEG-based Alzheimer’s disease monitoring system operating on the ds004504 OpenNeuro dataset (88 subjects: 36 AD, 23 FTD, 29 HC). A Takagi-Sugeno system, implemented as a hybrid FSM-Fuzzy architecture, is compared against a Mamdani equivalent across four axes: inference …

A Hybrid Rule-Based And Large Language Model Framework For Extracting Acronym–Definition Pairs From Scientific Literature, Petro Skrypnyk Sep 2026

A Hybrid Rule-Based And Large Language Model Framework For Extracting Acronym–Definition Pairs From Scientific Literature, Petro Skrypnyk

Theses and Dissertations

Authors of scientific papers rely heavily on acronyms and often use them without defining them, making the literature harder to read and index. This thesis develops and evaluates a hybrid rule-based and large language model (LLM) framework that extracts acronym–definition pairs from scientific PDF documents. It extends an earlier Rowan University system that combined a regular-expression parser with a single LLM on 200 papers. That system showed that neither the parser nor the LLM alone is sufficient for accurate extraction of the pairs. The framework is a fully automated pipeline from PDF input to scored results. It compares four LLM …

Business Process Redesign Through Hybrid Automation: A Case Study Of A Remittance Service Provider, Mary Rose P. Andrada, Leilani De Guzman

Journal of Management for Global Sustainability

Remittance service providers operate in highly regulated environments that demand strict compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) requirements. Despite advances in financial technology, many remittance organizations still rely on traditional processing systems marked by manual data entry, fragmented workflows, repetitive verification procedures, and multiple operational touchpoints. These inefficiencies lead to processing delays, higher operational costs, heavier employee workloads, and lower customer satisfaction. This study examines the potential of hybrid automation as a process redesign strategy within business process management (BPM) to address operational challenges in remittance processing. Drawing on existing literature, the study explores how integrating robotic process …

Signifying Nothing? Narnia, Inanity, And A. L. Rowse, Michael Ward Sep 2026

Signifying Nothing? Narnia, Inanity, And A. L. Rowse, Michael Ward

Sehnsucht: The C. S. Lewis Journal

"This essay explores the origins of the word Narnia, the name that Lewis gave to the fictional kingdom in which his seven Chronicles of Narnia are mostly set. How did he come by it? What, if anything, does the word mean?...I will be pursuing two lines of enquiry and two sets of intriguing connections that strike me as potentially illuminating. What follows is more of a theory for consideration than a hard-and-fast conclusion for acceptance. But though I write with a degree of tentativeness, I hope, nonetheless, to shed some light upon Lewis’s statements about his naming
of Narnia and …

What Did Tolkien Really Think About Narnia?, Holly Ordway Sep 2026

What Did Tolkien Really Think About Narnia?, Holly Ordway

Sehnsucht: The C. S. Lewis Journal

"We are presented with two questions: “what did Tolkien really think about Narnia?” and “how did the idea that Tolkien hated Narnia become accepted as common knowledge?” In this essay, I will address both questions and conclude by suggesting why they matter for Inklings scholarship. At the outset, I will merely observe that since Tolkien and Lewis are two of the greatest fantasy writers of the twentieth century, it is worth knowing what one of them thought of the other’s work. …I have drawn my primary evidence from Tolkien’s published Letters (in the Revised and Expanded Edition), unpublished letters, and …

Technical Specification Spec-143: Anamorphic Ternary Compute Mesh And Phantom Token Suppression Topologies In High-Gravity Attention Fields, Christopher L. Eckes Sep 2026

Technical Specification Spec-143: Anamorphic Ternary Compute Mesh And Phantom Token Suppression Topologies In High-Gravity Attention Fields, Christopher L. Eckes

Defensive Publications Series

This specification details the structural implementation, mathematical formalisms, and computational validation models for an un-hackable, decentralized multi-agent computing layer. Operating under the Dimensionally Extended Holographic Projection (DEHP) framework, the system eliminates discrete binary logic gates and linguistic tokens in favor of continuous, non-linguistic token-latching over an anamorphic fluid-canvas substrate. By utilizing a multi-layer sub-wavelength photonic crossbar array, data states are mapped as continuous spatial-harmonic vectors. High-gravity attention fields are generated within the hardware layer to isolate and completely suppress phantom tokens, maintaining context window equilibrium under infinite tensor ingestion loads. Python execution arrays verify that external adversarial perturbations and state-level …

Saudi Coffee And Representations Of National Identity: A Comparative Study Of Nabati Poetry And Travelogues, Bader I. Al-Harbi, Ahmad Ahmad Abd Al-Maqsoud Abd Al-Aal Sep 2026

Saudi Coffee And Representations Of National Identity: A Comparative Study Of Nabati Poetry And Travelogues, Bader I. Al-Harbi, Ahmad Ahmad Abd Al-Maqsoud Abd Al-Aal

Scientific Journal of King Faisal University: Humanities and Management Sciences

This study examines Saudi coffee as a symbol of national identity in the discourses of Western and Arab travelers and Saudi Nabati poets. Using comparative cultural criticism, it analyzes the emotions, collective images, and cultural meanings associated with coffee across these differing discourses. The findings identify three patterns of cultural representation: an ethnographic pattern in Western travel discourse that documents and defines the “exotic” other; a renaissance- oriented (nahḍawi) pattern in Arab travel discourse that presents coffee as a symbol of Arab national identity and views the Saudi state as a source of hope for unity and renaissance; and a …

An Interval-Valued Spherical Fuzzy Critic–Waspas Framework For Prioritizing Healthcare Delivery Models To Enhance Patient Satisfaction Under Uncertainty, Mariam Hamada, Ahmed Samy, Mohamed M. Abdelhafeez, Shrouk El-Amir Sep 2026

An Interval-Valued Spherical Fuzzy Critic–Waspas Framework For Prioritizing Healthcare Delivery Models To Enhance Patient Satisfaction Under Uncertainty, Mariam Hamada, Ahmed Samy, Mohamed M. Abdelhafeez, Shrouk El-Amir

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

Selecting an appropriate healthcare delivery model is important for improving the quality of healthcare services and enhancing patient satisfaction. However, this decision is complex because it involves several criteria, uncertainty, and different expert opinions. To handle this uncertainty, this paper uses Interval-Valued Spherical Fuzzy Sets (IVSFSs), which allow experts to express their evaluations more flexibly. This paper proposes an integrated interval-valued spherical fuzzy CRITIC-WASPAS approach to prioritize healthcare delivery models. The CRITIC method is used to determine the objective weights of the evaluation criteria, while the WASPAS method is used to rank the healthcare delivery models. Expert evaluations are expressed …

A Neutrosophic Event-Graph Legal Ai System For Detecting Contradictions In Witness Testimonies Under Egyptian Law, Shimaa Abdelghany Attalla, Alaa Elmor, Nada Hesham, Abduallah Gamal

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

Witness testimony is an important source of evidence in criminal proceedings, but it may contain contradictions, incomplete details, or conflicts with other case-file materials. This paper proposes a neutrosophic event-graph legal AI framework for detecting materially contested claims in witness testimonies under the Egyptian criminal-procedure context. The framework converts testimony and related records into structured claims containing actor, action, object, time, location, source, and modality. These claims are then connected through an event graph and evaluated using neutrosophic components of support, indeterminacy, and opposition. The system produces source-grounded legal-review alerts when a claim has sufficient opposition from other claims or …
