Sinaya: A Philippine Journal for Senior High School Teachers and Students
Anime has emerged not only as a form of entertainment but also as a cultural and philosophical medium exploring concepts such as identity, decision-making, and existential dilemmas. Despite its growing influence in both global and Filipino contexts, little scholarly attention has been given to how philosophical frameworks like Deleuze and Guattari’s can be applied to analyze such narratives. The study analyzed To Every You I’ve Loved Before (2022) and To Me The One Who Loved You (2022) while applying Deleuze and Guattari’s philosophical approach to understand how decisions, with identity formation and social norms, affect character development. The research applies …

An Analysis Of The Experiences Of Lawyers Handling Criminal Law Cases Within The Philippine Court System Through A Weberian Lens, Minami O. Iwayama, Mark Anthony M. Quintos
Social Sciences and Development Review
In accordance with the Weberian tradition of classical public administration, the core responsibility of the Philippine Public Administration is the efficient delivery of public services to its constituents. In the case of the Judicial branch of the government, this responsibility manifests in the form of a quick disposition of cases filed before its courts. This is particularly important in criminal cases where people may be deprived of liberty while awaiting conviction from the Court – leading to the sentiment that “justice delayed is justice denied.” This study aimed to explore the challenges observed in the Philippine court system by focusing …

In this Good Cause Eviction Law (GCEL) holdover proceeding, the landlord sought to non-renew the tenant's month-to-month tenancy due to alleged nonpayment of rent under Real Property Law § 216(a)(i). The tenant moved to dismiss, arguing the absence of a formal lease and pleading defects. The landlord cross-moved to amend the petition. The court denied the tenant's motion, holding that RPL § 216(a)(i) does not mandate a formal rental agreement for non-renewal based on nonpayment, unlike summary nonpayment proceedings. The landlord's cross-motion to amend was granted. The court further clarified that "rent due and owing" under GCEL requires proof of …

All Decisions
In this licensee holdover, the tenant moved to disqualify the landlord's counsel, arguing a conflict of interest because one of the firm's attorneys previously represented the tenant in a substantially related prior proceeding. The court found that a presumption of disqualification arose, but the landlord rebutted it by demonstrating that the attorney lived out of state, was not involved in the current proceeding, did not possess material information, and the firm had established an ethical wall. The court denied the tenant's motion but prohibited the firm from discussing the case with the attorney in question.

Investigating Trust Between Hispanic Immigrants And Law Enforcement, Nina Marie Morales-Perez
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
In this qualitative study, the evolving perceptions of law enforcement among child immigrants from Central and South America following their immigration to the United States were investigated. Anchored in social learning theory, the aim was to discern whether interactions with law enforcement in their home countries and the United States influence these perceptions. A phenomenological approach was used to conduct in-depth interviews with six Latino individuals who immigrated between the ages of 7 and 17 and are at least 18 years old at the time of their interview. Participants were recruited through purposeful sampling, and interview questions were used to …

2024–2025 was a big year for tort law in Georgia, particularly on the legislative side. Governor Brian Kemp achieved his primary goal for the 2025 legislative session, working with the Georgia General Assembly to enact significant tort reform measures. These measures change Georgia law on the collateral source rule, the relevance of seatbelt evidence, and—most notably—in the area of negligent security. All of these changes benefit tort defendants. The Supreme Court of Georgia also made its mark on tort law during the Survey period, deciding several cases involving the liability of professionals and adopting rules that— more often than not—benefited …
