Designing Inclusive Planning, Collaboration, And Communication Practices For Neurodivergent Individuals In Project-Based Environments, Siddhanth Janakiraman
Harrisburg University Dissertations and Theses
In a knowledge-driven economy where project-based work structures dominate, project management methodologies have become central to how organizations plan, collaborate, and communicate. However, these frameworks are often built around neurotypical assumptions of communication fluency, executive functioning, and time perception—creating systemic barriers for neurodivergent professionals. This study, Designing Inclusive Planning, Collaboration, and Communication Practices for Neurodivergent Individuals in Project-Based Environments, investigates how project management methodologies and tools can be adapted to foster more inclusive participation and performance. Grounded in the neurodiversity paradigm and informed by principles from Project Management and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), the research adopts a qualitative, exploratory approach. Through …

Artemisinin partial resistance, driven by Plasmodium falciparum K13 mutations, threatens malaria control. Zanzibar is vulnerable to artemisinin partial resistance spread but lacks recent molecular surveillance. We sequenced samples in Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania collected from 2022 to 2024. K13 mutations were found in 2 of 1440 participants (P441L, A675V) in Zanzibar and 6 of 3762 (R561H, P441L) in mainland Tanzania. Based on whole genome sequencing data, K13 mutations appear to be of African origin with regional spread. Frequent parasite importation appears to maintain partner drug mutation frequencies similar to the mainland, where artemether-lumefantrine selects for mutations favoring artesunate-amodiaquine sensitivity. Ongoing …

Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible blindness, primarily due to elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) that damages the retina and optic nerve. Most topical glaucoma treatments focus solely on IOP-lowering without direct neuroprotection, as drug delivery to the posterior eye is challenging. Here, we developed NeuProIO, a dual-action solid drug nanoparticle (NP) eye drop for simultaneous IOP reduction and neuroprotection. Using flash nanoprecipitation in a multi-inlet vortex mixer, we fabricated the first NeuProIO solid drug NPs incorporating the repurposed neuroprotective agent maprotiline (MAP) and the IOP-lowering agent betaxolol (BX), forming MAP/BX NPs for synergistic glaucoma treatment. The NeuProIO improved stability …

Math anxiety represents a substantial barrier to many students’ math learning. In this paper, we apply interdisciplinary perspectives to data on over 13,200 ninth graders and their math teachers from the High School Longitudinal Study. Results suggest that being perceived as dis/abled relates to heightened math anxiety regardless of adolescents’ gender, or race and ethnicity. Our intersectional approach reveals that adolescents’ expressions of math anxiety do not always correspond with gender, racial, and ethnic stereotypes, with Black girls, Black boys, and Latine boys expressing relatively low levels of math anxiety. Finally, consistent with the principles of inclusion and universal design, …

Alkali-activated materials have emerged as promising low-carbon alternatives to ordinary Portland cement-based binders; however, their practical application is strictly limited by rapid setting and poor workability. To address these challenges, this study proposes an evaluation methodology combining setting time measurement, cloud point tests for chemical stability, and wide-range rheological analysis. While conventional superplasticizers like polycarboxylate ether (PCE) proved unstable in high-alkaline environments, cloud point tests revealed that polynaphthalene sulfonate (PNS) and butyl acrylate (BA) exhibited superior chemical stability. Notably, BA was identified as a novel and effective dispersant in 3.5 M KOH-activated systems, reducing yield stress of fresh mortar by …

Crafting Power, Piety, And Memory: The Sabil-Maktab Of 'Abd Al-Rahman Katkhuda In Bayn Al-Qasrayn, Cairo (1157 Ah/ 1744 Ce), Nehal Hany Al-Shamy
Theses and Dissertations
Among hundreds of sabil-maktabs in Cairo, the one ʿAbd al-Rahman Katkhuda built in Bayn al-Qasrayn in 1157/1744 stands out as an iconic jewel, rising to be a symbol of the city itself. However, this sabil is more than just a beautiful building, for its beauty was only a means to channel political, commemorative, and spiritual connotations. This thesis is concerned with analyzing the raisons d’être of constructing the sabil through investigating the historical and political circumstances that influenced its patron at the time, and their reflections in the artistic choices he made. I argue that crafting the sabil as a …
A Review Of Motion-Preserving Cervical Spinal Implants And Fusion Constructs, Frank Vrionis
A Review Of Motion-Preserving Cervical Spinal Implants And Fusion Constructs, Frank Vrionis
All Publications
Spinal fusion remains a common surgical treatment for degenerative cervical spine pathology. By eliminating segmental motion, fusion alters spinal biomechanics and redistributes mechanical loads to adjacent levels. These changes contribute to adjacent segment degeneration (ASD). Motion-preserving spinal implants have been developed to address these limitations. Cervical disc arthroplasty (CDA) is the most widely used example. Such devices aim to maintain physiologic kinematics while preserving segmental stability. Their biomechanical behavior varies with implant design, material properties, and constraint characteristics. Previous research does not holistically compare fusion with motion-preserving treatments on the spine, resulting in an incomplete understanding of when motion-preserving devices …

Psycholinguistic Factors And Technology Appropriation In Efl Learning: An Instrumental Case Study, Marlon Vanegas Rojas, Claudia María Uribe Hoyos
The Qualitative Report
This instrumental case study described the psycholinguistic factors related to technology appropriation and language learning among English as a foreign language university students in Medellín, Colombia. Conducted at a private university’s language department, the 64-hour English course combined traditional and digital teaching methods with 22 participants from diverse undergraduate programs. Employing maximum variation sampling, the study captured perspectives across age, gender, technology appropriation, academic performance, and cultural background. Data collection included interviews, a technology appropriation self-perception survey, language proficiency tests, and classroom observations. Using the analytical framework of Miles et al. (2014) the analysis revealed that students relied on digital …

The Impact Of Environmental Communication On Consumer Behavior: The Mediating Role Of Ascription Of Responsibility And Attitude, Nada Hussam El-Maghraby
Theses and Dissertations
The current study aims to examine the effect of environmental communication on promoting pro-environmental behaviors (PEBs) in the Egyptian society. The study also tests the mediating roles of ascription of responsibility and attitude toward pro-environmental behavior on the examined relationship. Another aim of the study is to explore intention as a mediator in the relationship between attitude toward pro-environmental behavior and behavior. The research is based on the Norm Activation Theory (NAT) and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). A mixed-methods approach was implemented in this study. Quantitatively, a survey was conducted, and 406 responses were collected using convenience sampling …

Compositionally complex (Hf,Ti,Zr,W)B2/(Hf,Ti,Zr,W)C-based ceramics were produced with different boride and carbide phase contents by varying the C/B4C molar ratio used in boro/carbothermal reduction. A monoboride phase based on WB was detected in all compositions. As the C/B4C ratio was varied, the WB content decreased from 23.7 vol% for a C/B4C ratio of 6.0–15.3 vol% for a C/B4C ratio of 10.3. Further increases in the C/B4C ratio increased the WB content. The monoboride phase contained mainly W and Ti in a solid solution with the nominal composition of (W …

Background: In randomized clinical trials (RCTs), anticipating control arm outcomes is important for power calculations and enrollment goals. Unexpected overperformance of the control arm can underpower RCTs. The objective of this study was to estimate the prevalence of control arm overperformance in phase 3 oncology RCTs.
Methods: The authors conducted a meta-epidemiological study of two-arm, superiority-design, phase 3 oncology RCTs. They reviewed articles/publications and protocols for power calculations, justification, and outcomes. Control arm performance was measured as the ratio of observed control arm outcomes relative to pretrial estimates, and overperformance was defined as a 10% improvement.
Results: In total, 385 …

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) could transform evidence synthesis and revolutionize the global scientific enterprise, yet its agricultural applications are understudied. Here, we systematically assess the performance of three web-grounded AI engines (ChatGPT, ScholarAI and DeepSeek) in synthesizing the global literature on biological control of the fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda, and benchmark their outputs against a recent, near-exhaustive human review. Though all engines rapidly screened vast literature corpora, they exhibited shortcomings in factual accuracy, reporting reliability and data consistency. In machine-run syntheses, natural enemy prevalence and performance data often diverged from published records while the level of agreement in enumerating top-performing …
