Physics & Astronomy Faculty Publications

We present a search for gravitational waves from inspiraling, planetary-mass ultracompact binaries using data from the first part of the fourth observing run of LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA. Finding no evidence of such systems, we determine the maximum distance reach for such objects and their merger rate densities. Then, we identify classes of primordial black hole mass distributions for which these rate limits can be translated into relevant constraints on the mass distribution of primordial black holes, assuming that they are all composed of dark matter, in the mass range [10−6,10−3]⁢𝑀⊙. Our constraints for the class of primordial black hole …

Analisis Makna Denotatif, Konotatif, Dan Struktur Harmoni Pada Lagu Rabiya Karya Duane Fatri Rasfaesia, Rohid Atana, Tutut Pristianti

Journal of Language, Literature, and Arts

This study aims to analyze the denotative and connotative meanings, as well as the harmonic structure, in the song Rabiya by Duane Fatri Rasfaesia. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory to examine the meanings embedded in the lyrics and harmony theory to analyze the song's musical structure. The research data consisted of the song lyrics and harmonic composition. Data were collected through literature review, interviews, and documentation. Interviews were conducted with the songwriter, a Sumbawa community leader, and listeners to strengthen the interpretation of the findings. Data trustworthiness was established through source and technique triangulation, …

Regulatory Innovation Through Authority: An Analysis Of India’S Central Consumer Protection Authority’S Functioning (2020–2025), Gaurav Pathak, Mohit Yadav, Anush Ganesh

International Journal on Consumer Law and Practice

This article presents the first comprehensive empirical analysis of India’s Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), since its establishment in 2020, based on an examination of 165 orders across 118 cases through 2025. The study fills a critical research gap by systematically analysing CCPA’s enforcement patterns, procedural efficiency, and regulatory evolution. The unique dataset reveals that CCPA has fundamentally transformed India’s consumer protection landscape through a distinctive dual approach that combines reactive enforcement with proactive regulation. This study finds that 72 per cent of cases were initiated suo moto, indicating a paradigm shift from complaint-driven to preventive market surveillance and that …

The Influence of Buerger Allen Exercise on Lower Extremity Circulation in Patients with Diabetic Foot Ulcer. Diabetic footulcer (DFU) is a complication of diabetes caused by impaired venous and arterial blood circulation. Buerger allen exercise is a modality therapy with active postural movement. This study aims to assess the effect of buerge rallen exercise on the circulation of lower extremities in DFU patients. The study design was pre experimental pretest and posttest without control. The sampling technique was consecutive sampling and the large sample of 43DFU patients, analysis data was using Wilcoxon test. Increased circulation is measured using the Ankle …

How Do Habitual Entrepreneurs Develop Entrepreneurial Addiction?, Wan Khairul Anuar Wan Abd Manan, Athirah Ismail, Puteri Fadzline Muhamad Tamyez Fadzline

Journal of Business & Entrepreneurship

Habitual entrepreneurs are a key driver of economic development. Hence, it is important to generate a more detailed understanding of their addictive behaviour while running their businesses. The purpose of this study is to explore whether and how habitual entrepreneurs develop entrepreneurial addiction and the effects of this addiction. The study is based on a qualitative research design and analyzes the development of entrepreneurial addiction among habitual entrepreneurs. Findings indicated that habitual entrepreneurs actively develop entrepreneurial addiction after owning three businesses, due to several symptoms, namely, fulfilment, opportunity obsession, tolerance, engagement, and neglect, along with prior entrepreneurial experiences. Habitual entrepreneurs …

“He Had Named Himself The Stranger”: From 'Germanic' Heroic Hospitality To Elvish Memorial Mediation In Tolkien’S Book Of Lost Tales, Paolo Pizzimento Dr. Jul 2026

“He Had Named Himself The Stranger”: From 'Germanic' Heroic Hospitality To Elvish Memorial Mediation In Tolkien’S Book Of Lost Tales, Paolo Pizzimento Dr.

Journal of Tolkien Research

This article examines the narrative functions of strangeness and hospitality in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Book of Lost Tales, focusing on Eriol’s transformation from foreign traveller into listener, witness, and transmitter of Elvish tradition. Through a comparative reading of selected Old Norse and Anglo-Saxon texts—particularly Hávamál, Gylfaginning, and Beowulf—it identifies recurrent literary configurations in which hospitality regulates admission, identity, reciprocity, danger, and access to knowledge. The comparison is morphological rather than genetic: it does not posit direct derivation or a uniform Germanic code. Drawing on Jan Assmann’s theory of cultural memory, the article argues that Tolkien redirects …

Sustainable Consumer Behavior Modeling: A Complex-Systems Approach To Neuromarketing, Preethi Nanjundan, Nupoor Sanjay Bhute, Ragini Topre, Lijo Thomas Jul 2026

Sustainable Consumer Behavior Modeling: A Complex-Systems Approach To Neuromarketing, Preethi Nanjundan, Nupoor Sanjay Bhute, Ragini Topre, Lijo Thomas

Northeast Journal of Complex Systems (NEJCS)

This study examines the application of complex-systems modeling to neuromarketing data for gaining deeper insights into the mechanisms underlying sustainable consumer behavior. It investigates how neural and biometric responses, interpreted through a systems-based perspective, can uncover dynamic interactions, feedback mechanisms, and emergent behavioral patterns influencing sustainable purchase decisions. The research explores the impact of sustainability-oriented marketing stimuli on long-term behavioral intentions by emphasizing the interconnected roles of cognitive processing, emotional engagement, implicit associations, and collective consumer dynamics. Through simulation-based modeling and structural analysis, the study demonstrates how subconscious neural responses and affective mechanisms mediate the relationship between marketing interventions, consumer …

Does Reporting Of Israeli Organ Harvesting Constitute Blood Libelous Folklore, And Why Does It Matter?, Simon J. Bronner Jul 2026

Does Reporting Of Israeli Organ Harvesting Constitute Blood Libelous Folklore, And Why Does It Matter?, Simon J. Bronner

Jewish Folklore and Ethnology

Global news reporting of “organ harvesting” by Israeli soldiers for medical institutions in the twenty-first century is analyzed as “newslore,” defined by folklorist- journalist Russell Frank as “folklore that comments on, and is therefore indecipherable without knowledge of, current events.” Built on hearsay, the reports, especially in the Arab press during the Israel-Hamas War, begun in 2023, have connections to a complex of antisemitic “blood libel” narratives in Europe about Jews violating the bodies of Christian children. The accusations of organ harvesting invoked a number of antisemitic tropes that were visually conveyed globally through memes and posts on the internet, …

Words Of War: The Rhetorical Weapons Of Folklore After October 7, Steve Siporin Jul 2026

Words Of War: The Rhetorical Weapons Of Folklore After October 7, Steve Siporin

Jewish Folklore and Ethnology

The chant “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” became well known after the beginning of the Israel-Hamas War (October 7, 2023) due to its widespread use at anti-Israel demonstrations and on news broadcasts, social media, and YouTube videos. A retort that mocked the inability of demonstrators who espoused the slogan to answer the questions “Which river? Which sea?” also circulated widely. Noncombatants on the domestic front relied on these two items of folklore (among others), a chant and a retort, to support their aims and satisfy their emotions. This essay traces the origins of each of …
