A Historical Study Of The Armory Show Of 1913 As A Factor In The Development Of American Art, Jurdan G. Myers Jul 1951

A Historical Study Of The Armory Show Of 1913 As A Factor In The Development Of American Art, Jurdan G. Myers

Art & Art History ETDs

For many years lecturers and art historians have been aware of the importance of the Armory Show (The international Exhibition of Modern Art) held in New York in 1913. This awareness has not been sufficient to stimulate the presentation of the entire history of the Armory show. Although most lecturers and art historians dismiss the exhibit by saying that it was important, there are a few who have given as much as ten pages to a discussion of the show.

An Evaluation Of Adult Confirmation Materials, Frederick Koehler Jun 1951

An Evaluation Of Adult Confirmation Materials, Frederick Koehler

Bachelor of Divinity

Working with adults has proved to me an enjoyable and rewarding experience. This thesis is written with a desire to help give adults that which has proved to be a blessing to me and to fulfill in their lives this same joy which they may have never known.

The author does not pretend to be an authority on this subject matter, but is writing on adult confirmation materials merely because of his love in this field. Neither does he intend to exhaust all the material related to this paper, but merely to present an overview in order to evaluate some …

The Principium Cognoscendi Of Roman Catholic Theology, F. E. Mayer May 1951

The Principium Cognoscendi Of Roman Catholic Theology, F. E. Mayer

Concordia Theological Monthly

For a time it seemed that Rome made honest attempts to bring about a rapprochement to Protestantism and to remove as far as possible all obstacles in the way of a reunion of all Christian denominations. In the encyclical Provida Matris of May, 1895, the Pope suggested prayers for the reconciliation with the separated brethren (italics our own). In the encyclical Mystici Corporis Christi of 1943 and again in the Christmas message of 1949 the Roman pontiff seemingly welcomed discussions between Catholic and Protestant theologians. In the Christmas message the Pope did not seem to be averse in principle to …

Our Legal System And How It Operates, Burke W. Shartel

Michigan Legal Studies Series

Five lectures delivered at the University of Michigan February 23, 24, 25, 26, and 27, 1948 on the Thomas M. Cooley Lectureship, enlarged and revised.

First, it is descriptive of the American legal system as it now exists, not of past law and not of legal systems in general. Second, it portrays the legal system as an operating institution. Third, I have given a large place to the discussion of language in relation to law. Fourth, I have given a considerable amount of space to a discussion of the ways in which statutes are made and interpreted. Fifth, technical ideas …

A Study Of The Vocabulary Used And The Spelling Errors Made In Written Compositions Of The Sixth-Grade Children In The Hebert Elementary School Of Beaumont, Texas, Naomi Lee Guidry Molett

All Theses

A historical study of the books and methods used in spelling instruction shows marked changes from Colonial times to the present. In the latter part of the eighteenth and the beginning of the nineteenth centuries, spelling was used to introduce children to reading. They learned the alphabet, syllables, and words in order to read religious material. Some early books published were a combination of speller and reader, such as the New England Primer and the American Spelling Book. At present, spelling takes its place as a partner of writing, serving as a tool for written expression. The spelling books have …
