Biosynthesis Of Glutamic Acid, Wee Chong Tan, Bernard Malin Jun 1964

Biosynthesis Of Glutamic Acid, Wee Chong Tan, Bernard Malin

Butler University Botanical Studies

An unknown microorganism was isolated from the soil by using defined selective medium. It could synthesize glutamic acid from glucose and urea. When subjected to repeated ultra-violet light and X-ray irradiations, and after process of screening, the organism had increased the yield of glutamic acid biosynthesis up to 10 mgm per ml of broth. The pathway of glutamic acid biosynthesis is unknown. Evidence indicated that the TCA cycle was probably not involved. The microorganism could be a new species of Micrococcus.

An Analysis And Development Of The Baptismal Rite Of The Lutheran Agenda, Hans Carl Boehringer Jun 1964

An Analysis And Development Of The Baptismal Rite Of The Lutheran Agenda, Hans Carl Boehringer

Master of Sacred Theology Thesis

This thesis is intended to be a practical study of two closely related problems involved in the use of the baptismal rite of the Evangelical Lutheran Synodical Conference of North America as it is found in The Lutheran Agenda, the conference's official guide to rites other than those most directly associated with the celebration of the Eucharist or with the observance of Matins and Vespers. The first quest i on to be studied is, “What does the rite itself mean?" The second question is, “How best may baptism be administered in an edifying manner in the congregations of The Lutheran …

School District Reorganization And Consolidation In Cache County, Utah, Grant Richard Bagley

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

A historical study of school organization and school district consolidation enables both educators and lay citizens to have a better understanding and appreciation of schools as they are today. The Cache County School System as presently constituted has evolved over the years from a cluster of small independent village schools with separate boards of education to a highly centralized system with one board of education and consolidated schools. The purpose of this study is to trace and analyze …

Comparison Of The Scope And Effectiveness Of Soviet And United States Foreign Economic Aid Programs, Levon Yeganiantz

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Of the three billion people who presently inhabit the world, about one-third live under communist rule, one-sixth constitute the population of free industrial lands, and the rest, which add up to one-half of the whole live in the poorer, less developed countries, most of which politically are considered to be “uncommitted.” These uncommitted countries, which like to be referred to as the “non-aligned group” and hope to develop one day into a third force, for all the purpose of international politics could be considered as “contested” areas. In one way or another they are trying to achieve at least a …

British Statutes In American Law, 1776-1836, Elizabeth Gaspar Brown Jan 1964

British Statutes In American Law, 1776-1836, Elizabeth Gaspar Brown

Books

When a dependency severs its formal connection with the mother country - irrespective of the century in which such severance occurs - the act of independence can neither eradicate the past nor solve all problems of the future. In the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, the United States of America discovered that independence from Great Britain in itself did not abolish the need for rules and regulations by which men could anticipate with some degree of certainty the consequences of particular actions. Wholesale adoption of such English statutes as were suited to their condition offered a solution to the …

Volksgeist And A Piece Of Sulphur, Frank W. Elliott Jan 1964

Volksgeist And A Piece Of Sulphur, Frank W. Elliott

Faculty Scholarship

Savigny was a principal architect of the historical theory of jurisprudence which holds that law must be consonant with the spirit of the people it governs. In his own times, however, he was more than a philosopher. As a participant in a great debate, Savigny developed his theory as a weapon to resist the wholesale imposition of a legal code which he regarded as alien to and ill suited for the emerging German states. Professor Elliott explores the thought of this controversial man in a fashion which is of interest not only to the philosopher and historian, but also to …

Social Stratification And Political Behavior: An Emphasis Upon Structural Dynamics, Christopher Bates Doob Jan 1964

Social Stratification And Political Behavior: An Emphasis Upon Structural Dynamics, Christopher Bates Doob

Honors Papers

The interrelationship of social stratification factors (Social stratification is the relative position of ranks, and their distribution found within a society.) and political institutions is a frequent problem of interest to social scientists. In studies of the relationship between political behavior and social stratification, there are numerous analyses of location or rank. in the stratification system and their effects on political behavior. There also are studies on the relationship between social mobility, status crystallization, (Social mobility for the purposes of this study concerns the comparative social rank between a father and his son.) and political behavior. The interaction between mobility, …
