The Nebraska Judicial Article: A Time For Reform, Thomas D. Sutherland Jan 1969

The Nebraska Judicial Article: A Time For Reform, Thomas D. Sutherland

Nebraska Law Review

The purpose of this Comment is to examine further a proposal for complete court reform in Nebraska put forth in an article entitled The Justice of the Peace in Nebraska, and to study some of the advantages of a unified court system. Such a court system would vest the judicial power of the state in one court of justice, rather than in several autonomous courts. However, this one court would be divided into courts of different levels under one administrative head. The problem is approached in two ways, which will first indicate the need for some kind of reform, …

The succeeding chapters reviewed the textbooks chosen for study for each twenty-year period to gain an insight into each author's philosophy of teaching gesture in delivery. Each textbook contained definitions of the various terms involved, which definitions also served to disclose the author's attitude toward the teaching …

The Rise And Decline Of A Small Midwestern Town, Mitchell, Iowa, Jack D. Frisbie Jan 1969

The Rise And Decline Of A Small Midwestern Town, Mitchell, Iowa, Jack D. Frisbie

Dissertations and Theses @ UNI

After the frontier had reached the Midwest, settlement proceeded at a rapid pace. When the Black Hawk Purchase opened Iowa to settlers in 1832, farmers and merchants soon replaced the trappers, miners, and fur traders of an earlier era. By the outbreak of the Civil War the state was one-third settled. By 1890 all of the counties in the state had been settled and developed. Such rapid occupation of these lands encouraged dreams of great cities and the creation of country villages in numbers which were excessive for the survival of many. Numerous communities developed only to become ghost towns …

Comment, John W. Wade Nov 1968

Comment, John W. Wade

Vanderbilt Law Review

The majority opinion in the Illinois Supreme Court held that if a change was to be made, the task was for the legislature, not the court. The five in the majority were not ready to deliver an opinion like that in MacPherson, Henningsen, Greenman.' If they had, there is real reason to believe that a similar consequence of an immediate and substantial judicial following would have developed. Without saying so, they seemed to be influenced by the thought that they would be complete pioneers in uncharted territory, with no precedents to rely upon or to interpret. Are there any judicial …

The Maynooth Grant And The Conservative Party, R S. Mcgregor

Student Work

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the impact of the Maynooth Bill upon the Conservative party and the careeer of Sir Robert Pool. Because of the limitations of time and space and in the interest of a concise narrative, a great deal of Peel's Irish program has either not been mentioned or only dealt with in passing: the Devon Commission, the Irish Colleges Bill, and the Charitable Bequests Act are the most notable of these omissions or glosses.

An Historical Study Of The Solo Concerto Cadenza, Toni Christine Rydman Aug 1968

An Historical Study Of The Solo Concerto Cadenza, Toni Christine Rydman

All Master's Theses

The study of the solo concerto cadenza is one that encompasses the areas of performance, history and theory. Even though the cadenza occupies a small place in the total music literature, it is a sort of microcosm of music. It would be impossible to make a study of the cadenza without completely understanding the concerto and related forms of music. An historical study such as this can lead to deeper understanding of the music to be performed.

This researcher feels that an objective and technical viewpoint should be included among the various literature concerning the issue at hand.
