Index of Texas Archaeology: Open Access Gray Literature from the Lone Star State
In 1986, cultural resources investigations were carried out to prepare a synthesis of the archeology of the Whiteoak Bayou area in western Harris County, Texas, and to conduct subsurface testing at prehistoric sites that may be affected by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Upper Whiteoak Bayou Flood Damage Reduction Project. The tasks undertaken during these investigations are: (1) background research into the environment and archeology of the area; (2) historic/archival research and reconnaissance survey to summarize the historical development of Whiteoak Bayou and to identify any important sites in the project area; (3) intensive survey of Vogel Creek, a …

Select Bibliography Of Works On The History Of Accounting 1981-1987, R. H. Parker
Accounting Historians Journal
This bibliography is a continuation of those published in R. H. Parker (ed.) Bibliographies for Accounting Historians (New York, Arno Press, 1980). It has been drawn up upon the same principles and the arrangement is the same. Most items date from 1981-1987 but a few fall outside this period. Some works are included which I have not had the opportunity of examining.

Influences From Early Accounting Literature On Contemporary Research, Robert J. Bricker
Influences From Early Accounting Literature On Contemporary Research, Robert J. Bricker
Accounting Historians Journal
This study explored the citation of pre-1960 literature in a body of contemporary accounting research. In a database of nearly 11,000 citations from 428 source articles, 117 pre-1960 accounting citations were identified. From the set of 413 nonhistorical articles, forty pre-1960 accounting citations were found. This study also examined the breadth of coverage of these citations and their distribution among journals. The results showed that many pre-1960 accounting documents traditionally considered important were not cited. This result may be useful to accounting historians by helping them to identify early research traditions that are in danger of being forgotten by nonhistorians.

Since Cumorah, Hugh Nibley
Since Cumorah, Hugh Nibley
Maxwell Institute Publications
A hundred years ago, the Book of Mormon was regarded by the scholarly world as an odd text that simply did not fit their understanding of the ancient world. Since that time, however, numerous ancient records have come to light, including the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Nag Hammadi texts.
These discoveries have forced scholars to change their views of history, and they place the Book of Mormon in a new light as well.
That is why respected Latter-day Saint scholar Hugh Nibley wrote Since Cumorah, a brilliant literary, theological, and historical evaluation of the Book of Mormon as an …

Some Reflections On The Role Of Legal History In Legal Education, David W. Raack
Some Reflections On The Role Of Legal History In Legal Education, David W. Raack
Duquesne Law Review
Despite its recent increase in popularity, the subject of legal history is generally viewed as having relatively little importance in the law school curriculum. While there may at one time have been some justification for this view, the changes in legal history-both as a scholarly discipline and as a law school courseover the past several decades, and the shift away from an exclusive focus on medieval English law, have made legal history a subject with much potential for legal education. A course in legal history can enhance students' understanding of the legal system and the long-term forces at work within …

The Sudbury Area To The Great Depression: Regional Development On The Northern Resource Frontier, Peter Vaino Krats
The Sudbury Area To The Great Depression: Regional Development On The Northern Resource Frontier, Peter Vaino Krats
Digitized Theses
An historical study of the Sudbury area of Northern Ontario raises important questions about the interplay of frontier North and settled South. Did progress in the "Nickel Belt" rely on outside-directed staples exploitation, or did local initiative play any part? What sort of society emerged--urban or rural, chaotic or tranquil? Questions such as these guide this thesis, which adopts a narrative coverage of local events from prehistory to the Great Depression. Changes in the resource sectors, administration and society are emphasized, for these best reflect the successive stages of areal development from a Northern "wilderness" to a modern region.;This broad-ranging …
