International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity and International Symposium on Physical Activity and Visual Impairment and Deafblindness
Introduction and Aim Children with visual impairments (VI) often experience delayed fundamental movement skills (FMS) development, potentially impacting physical activity participation and quality of life. Early intervention is crucial to fostering motor competence, confidence, and social inclusion which contributes to sustained healthy PA levels later in life. This study aimed to improve FMS of children with VI through a six-week intervention programme.
Method A quantitative research strategy using quasi-experimental design was used to collect the data. Children aged 5–9 years with VI (N = 30) were purposefully recruited from the local school for children with VI. The children participated in …

International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity and International Symposium on Physical Activity and Visual Impairment and Deafblindness
This project exemplifies the intersection of policy, practice, and research in adapted physical activity, highlighting the importance of user participation in creating inclusive play and recreation spaces. Traditional playground designs often reflect adult perspectives, which can inadvertently exclude children with diverse abilities, leading to missed opportunities for play and social interaction. Our initiative uniquely engaged both children and adults as "user experts" alongside "professional experts" in co-designing a state-of-the-art inclusive play area in Cork, Ireland, over a 30-month period, culminating in its launch in Summer 2022.
By actively incorporating children’s voices throughout the design process, we sought to align our …

International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity and International Symposium on Physical Activity and Visual Impairment and Deafblindness
Introduction: Campus recreation programming is a primary resource for physical activity among students [1], yet an estimated 68% of college students with disabilities (SWD) use these facilities less than five times per year [2]. An assessment of the campus recreation accessibility is needed to identify modifiable barriers [3]. This study evaluated the structural and programmatic accessibility of campus recreation facilities as defined by (1) an objective, standardized instrument, and (2) the perceptions of staff - aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 11, article 9 and 30.5 of the UNCRPD.
Methodology: This mixed-methods collective case study recruited a purposive sample of three …

Psycho-Analysis Will Not Save Us: Reflections On The Gen Z Mental Health Crisis, Victor Dubitans
Middle Voices
Generation Z (born between 1997 – 2012) is characterized as having both unprecedented mental health awareness and unprecedented mental distress. An apparent contradiction with troubling implications for the mental health field: Either the response to the mounting crisis has been insufficient or the field forms part of the problem. Taking seriously Wilks’ (2023) criticism of “therapeutic overreach” of the contemporary mental health field in the lives and development of youth, this paper attempts a selfanalysis and moral inventory about the field’s potential complicity in the crisis and in the history of hysteria. Lacan’s writings on the “analyst’s discourse” are considered …

Uncompelling Uniformity, Jacob Sandler
Uncompelling Uniformity, Jacob Sandler
Florida Law Review
When the potential for a circuit split arises, courts face competing values in determining the best course of action. A circuit may strive to balance consistency, predictability, uniformity, and correctness, among other values. But balancing uniformity and correctness is beyond the circuit’s remit; to engage in it frustrates the constitutional structure and congressional design of the federal judiciary. In other words, it is an illegitimate form of adjudication. Contemplating uniformity between circuits throws courts into the world of policymaking, a domain rightly reserved for the political branches.
By prioritizing uniformity, courts not only overstep their bounds but also introduce additional …

Few of us are happy with the state of American democracy. Our political institutions appear dysfunctional and our political culture more generally has become increasingly toxic and tribalistic. Our current election structures make it too easy for extreme or factional candidates to win office even when they lack the support of electoral majorities. Additionally, our current system also creates incentives for candidates and those in government to be more responsive to the ideological wings of the parties, rather than to citizens more generally.
I want to help shift the focus of election law from rules about voting policy and …

Gum recession is a common condition where the gum tissue pulls away from the teeth, exposing the roots and making them more prone to damage. This report describes the treatment of a 30-year-old woman who had severe gum recession on her lower left canine tooth, caused by her long-term habit of scratching the gums with her fingernail. To restore the lost tissue and protect the tooth, a double papilla flap (a surgical technique that moves nearby tissue) along with a connective tissue graft (transplanted tissue from the roof of the mouth) was used. Over 2 years, the recession was reduced …

A Multidimensional Model Of Attitudes Toward Sponsorship, Zachary C. T. Evans, Terry Eddy
Global Sport Business Journal
Sport sponsorship is an important marketing tool, with many of its elements having received previous research attention. Although researchers have examined attitudes toward sport sponsorship, the theoretical grounding of attitudes is often incomplete, and theoretically distinct terms are frequently used interchangeably (e.g., attitudes and beliefs). The purpose of this study was to critically examine the literature regarding attitudes toward, and beliefs about, sponsorship to review the common frameworks utilized in examining the constructs, and analyze their theoretical appropriateness. A systematized review methodology was undertaken, through which a definition for attitude toward sponsorship was developed using the tripartite framework for attitude …
