Management Behavior Required For Creating Social Value In The Uae, André De Waal, Meerna Mroueh

Arab Economic and Business Journal

This study explores how specific managerial behaviors support social value creation in UAE-based Takaful organizations. Using the High-Performance Organization (HPO) framework - particularly the Management Quality factor - it analyzes data from 230 questionnaires and 59 interviews. Findings show strengths in trust and relationship-building, but weaknesses in decision-making, leadership effectiveness, and performance management. Compared to national and global HPO benchmarks, the case organizations scored lower, indicating cultural and organizational barriers. The study offers industry-specific recommendations and presents a practical approach for measuring the alignment between managerial behaviors and ESG, CSR, and EDI goals in Islamic financial institutions.

Journal of the Saudi Heart Association

Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of death and disability globally. In Saudi Arabia, the burden of CVD is exceptionally high, with age-standardized mortality and prevalence rates that far exceed global averages. The current CVD risk prediction tools have several limitations, and those classified as low to intermediate risk still experience cardiovascular events, underscoring the urgent need to address CVD through effective screening and prevention strategies.

Methods: A panel of Saudi experts reviewed evidence on the use of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin (hs-cTn) to enhance cardiovascular risk assessment among seemingly healthy individuals. Consensus recommendations tailored to the Saudi context …

Is Therapeutic Lying Ethically Justifiable If It Leads To Improved Care?, Deborah Murphy Aug 2025

Is Therapeutic Lying Ethically Justifiable If It Leads To Improved Care?, Deborah Murphy

Journal of Social Care

Problem statement

Although therapeutic lying is used extensively as an intervention in dementia care, its use is ethically controversial, firstly, because lying is usually viewed negatively, and secondly, because people with dementia are an especially vulnerable cohort. It is claimed that therapeutic lying improves wellbeing and supports a person-centred approach to dementia care.

Research Question

Is lying to people with dementia ethically justifiable if it leads to improved care?

Aim

To investigate whether care can be improved using therapeutic lies, to explore the ongoing ethical debate around its justification and to examine whether therapeutic lies support person-centred interventions.

Method

This …

The 6-Frame Model: Transforming Supervision With Creative Interprofessional Methodologies, Delores Crerar

Journal of Social Care

This article introduces the 6-Frame Model, a dynamic framework designed to enhance interprofessional practice through creative supervision within a community-based family support service. Grounded in constructivist, interpretivist, and critical realist perspectives, the model supports critical reflection, effective communication, and insights through creative processes. By integrating various theoretical approaches, it provides a robust structure for supervisors to engage in meaningful reflective dialogue with supervisees, addressing both subjective experiences and underlying objective realities impacting practice.

The model consists of six stages: Invite, Initiate, Engage, Reflect, Explore, and Apply. This approach begins with the constructivist 'Invite' and 'Initiate' phases, incorporates the interpretivist 'Engage' …

Recognising The Unseen: Emotional Labour In Teenage And Adolescent Care, John Bowe

Journal of Social Care

This study delves into the often-overlooked aspect of Emotional Labour (EL) within social care work, specifically focusing on its impact on social care workers who support teenagers and adolescents. EL, defined as managing emotions to meet organisational objectives, is crucial in shaping best practices within care professions. While EL can yield positive outcomes, this study primarily examines its negative repercussions, particularly in relation to professional burnout among social care workers. The study explores the organisational barriers that may compel social care workers to emotionally detach from their roles as a protective measure through quantitative analysis. Drawing on Hochschild's EL concept …

Iraqi Journal for Computer Science and Mathematics

Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) is a prevalent sleep disorder characterised by repeated episodes of partial or complete upper airway obstruction during sleep, primarily due to the relaxation and collapse of soft tissues in the throat. These interruptions lead to disrupted sleep patterns and reduced oxygen saturation, increasing the risk of cardiovascular complications. Although Polysomnography (PSG) is considered the gold standard for diagnosing OSA, it is often uncomfortable for patients due to the extensive use of sensors and prolonged monitoring duration. As a result, there is a growing need for alternative diagnostic methods that are more efficient, comfortable, and cost-effective. This …

Retracted: High-Performance System For Predicting Icu Patient Durations Using Artificial Neural Networks With Transfer Learning, Mahmood. K. Awsaj, Yousif Al Mashhadany, Lamia Chaarifourati

Iraqi Journal for Computer Science and Mathematics

In the wake of disease outbreaks such as COVID-19, real-time health monitoring and prediction systems have become essential for ensuring effective patient care. These systems rely on sensors to monitor biometric parameters such as blood pressure, body temperature, and heart rate, providing continuous and accurate data that medical staff cannot collect manually around the clock. This study presents a robust framework for managing Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients using Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) with Transfer Learning. The data is analyzed across five distinct time windows, each representing a period of ICU stay based on vital signs and medical test results. …

Reframing Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (Me/Cfs): Biological Basis Of Disease And Recommendations For Supporting Patients., Priya Agarwal, Kenneth J Friedman

Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine Departmental Research

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) is a worldwide challenge. There are an estimated 17-24 million patients worldwide, with an estimated 60 percent or more who have not been diagnosed. Without a known cure, no specific curative medication, disability lasting years to being life-long, and disagreement among healthcare providers as to how to most appropriately treat these patients, ME/CFS patients are in need of assistance. Appropriate healthcare provider education would increase the percentage of patients diagnosed and treated; however, in-school healthcare provider education is limited. To address the latter issue, the New Jersey Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Association (NJME/CFSA) has developed …

Effect Of Gait Retraining In Minimalist Footwear Or Barefoot On Running Footstrike And Cadence: A Systematic Review, John Desrochers, Alexis Chow, David Rubin, Altamash Raja

Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine Departmental Research

Gait retraining programs take a structured approach to altering a runner's gait, often with the goal of decreasing footstrike angle and increasing cadence, as these outcomes have been correlated to a reduced rate of injury and optimal performance. Minimalist footwear, or running barefoot entirely, has been explored as a tool for gait adjustment in runners, largely due to the increased feedback from ground forces experienced by the runner. This systematic review aims to decipher the effect of gait retraining with minimalist footwear or barefoot running on footstrike angle and cadence. The comparison group included runners that underwent gait retraining in …

The Impact Of Socio-Emotional And Provider Support On Hiv Testing In Southern United States, Ijeoma Onyinyechi Nwazuruokeh

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

HIV was first diagnosed over 40 years ago in the United States; however, HIV remains an epidemic. An understanding of how socio-emotional support, social isolation, and support from an individual's provider influence HIV testing in the Southern United States can be a key to increasing testing rates and ultimately reducing the incidence and prevalence of HIV in the Southern United States. The purpose of this non-experimental quantitative study was to examine the relationship between HIV testing, socio-emotional support, and social isolation, and how these variables are further moderated by an individual having provider support in the Southern United States. The …
