Improving Collaboration And Data Storage At An Ihs Facility: Kotter’S Method Of Organization Change, Madison Spellman, Dwight Kappl

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Purpose: Inefficient communication and knowledge sharing have been linked to delayed patient care and reduced staff collaboration1. The integration of applications for healthcare communication and knowledge storage2 can improve clinic efficiency and staff communication3.

Documents and data at an IHS facility are stored on the clinic’s Z-Drive: a collection of folders on a clinic server containing outdated documents. If a staff member is editing a shared document in the Z-Drive, another staff member cannot also be editing the same document. If staff do not save a document correctly, multiple copies of the same document can …

Enhancing Pediatric Stoma Nursing Care: Analyzing Youtube Videos For Pediatric Stoma Care Techniques, Aylin Akca Sumengen, Inci Kirtil, Damla Ozcevik Subasi, Gokce Naz Cakir, Gozde Turkmenoglu Kucukakca

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Background: Stoma care requires a multidisciplinary team, but when the patient is a child, family-centered care is crucial [1, 2, 3]. Caregivers and patients without prior experience in ostomy care often share their experiences and seek answers to their questions on digital platforms like social media and YouTube [3, 4]. YouTube is considered a valuable resource for educating pediatric patients and parents. It provides interactive and visual education, which is more accessible than traditional written materials [4, 5, 6]. However, it's important to assess the reliability and validity of these videos through content analysis.

Purpose: The purpose of this study …

Nursing Pedagogy: Using Gaming For Multifaceted Knowledge And Skills For Emotional Intelligence, Ashley Lanai Harmon, Jill Jackson Van Der Like Sep 2025

Nursing Pedagogy: Using Gaming For Multifaceted Knowledge And Skills For Emotional Intelligence, Ashley Lanai Harmon, Jill Jackson Van Der Like

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

The current academic climate shows that students entering nursing school do not have the emotional mindset that will allow them success and longevity post-graduation in nursing (Budler et al., 2022; Christianson, 2020; Cleary et al., 2018; Crawford et al., 2021; Dugué et al., 2021) . Students often struggle through their program, with clinical and didactic or either independently in relation to academic success or performance. Additionally, once these students pass their NCLEX exam, they tend to find themselves overwhelmed and emotionally unable to withstand the pressures of floor nursing. As of 2024, research has shown that nationally, about 31% of …

Cross-Cultural Adaptation And Validation Of Social Abuse Scale In South Korea And Turkey, Kader Tekkas-Kerman, Sihyun Park

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Background: Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a pervasive issue worldwide (United Nations, 2024). Various forms of IPV have been investigated (Henry et al., 2021), including the recently explored concept of social abuse. Social abuse refers to the intentional act of violating an individual’s rights and needs for social belonging within an intimate relationship (Park & Jeon, 2022). These actions can lead to a myriad of negative effects on the victims’ mental health and social relationships, as well as result in the victims’ social isolation (Stoff et al., 2021). Recently, we have developed an English version of the Social Abuse …

Examining Latent Class Variations In Adult Women Diagnosed With Pelvic Congestion Syndrome, Sarah E. Patel, Steven R. Chesnut

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Purpose: Pelvic pain is a classic textbook symptom of pelvic congestion syndrome (PCS). Historically, PCS pain has been described as dull and achy. Yet, women’s PCS pain experience and description may differ from classic textbook presentations. In recent work, women’s PCS pain profiles are either intense and debilitating or mild but consistent. Women in the intense and debilitating group reported pain as intense, unbearable, sharp, stabbing, shooting, sickening, and exhausting, while women in the mild but consistent class reported pain as nagging, troublesome, tiring, aching, and pressing. These differences may explain variability between groups of women with PCS …

Take The Vitals Of Council Health! Re-Empowering Shared Governance, Justin Peterson, David Smith, Kristiina Hyrkas

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Background: In our academic Magnet® hospital, we have six shared governance councils including an active Interprofessional Research and Innovations council (IRIC). The nursing council structure serves as the nexus between organizational planning and frontline delivery of healthcare. Like the patients we provide care for, the health of our councils need periodic checks for intended function and health. The current literature has suggested that by surveying council members, especially during times of change, we can gain insight into the strengths and areas for potential improvements as they relate to council structure, processes, and outcomes. Our organization merged in 2024 with two …

Hmongcentric Niche Charter Schools: The Role Of Social Capital On Students’ Perceived Academic Competence, Zha Blong Xiong, Ting Xu, Kyle Nickodem, Malina Her

Journal of Southeast Asian American Education and Advancement

Using Coleman’s (1988) social capital theory, this study investigated the connection between family and school social capital and the perceived academic competence of students enrolled in Hmongcentric niche charter schools. The study analyzed 124 participants consisting of third, fourth, and fifth-grade students residing in Minnesota, with 93% identifying as Hmong. Results of structural equation modeling showed that school social capital, as measured by school attachment and school connection, is significantly linked to students’ perceived academic competence. Further analyses suggested that school attachment, especially in charter schools that focus on culture and language, plays a more crucial role in shaping students’ …

Performance Fatigability At Task Failure And Beyond: Distinct Patterns Of Recovery Following Constant Load Versus Intermittent Cycling Exercise, Zachary J. Mcclean, Keenan Macdougall, Matthew J. Jordan, Danilo Iannetta, Martin Macinnis, Saied J. Aboodarda

International Journal of Exercise Science

International Journal of Exercise Science 18(7): 971-983, 2025. The total work completed during an exercise session is often assumed to be the primary factor influencing the kinetics of post-exercise recovery. However, the duration of work and rest periods during high intensity interval training (HIIT) have been shown to impact the magnitude of physiological stress and could also impact post-exercise recovery. The aim of this study was to characterize the recovery time course of neuromuscular function following work-to-rest matched HIIT protocols with different work interval durations and conducted to task failure. Participants (n=12, n=6 females) completed a ramp incremental exercise test …

From Emerging Supporters To Seasoned Mentors: Teachers’ Well-Being And Responses To Student Wellness Needs Across Career Phases, Megan C. Sharkey, Elizabeth Levine-Brown, Christy Galletta Horner

Mid-Western Educational Researcher

Educators report feeling overwhelmed by shifts in their working conditions and responsibilities since the pandemic, leading to significant levels of burnout and reduced professional satisfaction. Beyond traditional instructional roles, teachers are increasingly expected to serve as first responders to students’ wellness needs, manage complex behavioral issues, and provide ongoing emotional support. While teachers’ instructional practices, ability to manage classroom dynamics, and engagement in leadership roles evolve over time, findings here show that their well-being and approach to supporting students’ wellness needs shift across different career phases as well. This study examines, via a mixed methods approach, how K-12, full-time, U.S. …

Restoring Chevron Deference By Statute, Scott Dodson Sep 2025

Restoring Chevron Deference By Statute, Scott Dodson

Duke Law Journal Online

This paper details a solution for legislatively restoring Chevron deference: amend the APA to direct lower federal courts to give deference to reasonable agency decisions but retain nondeferential judicial review by the U.S. Supreme Court. This solution restores most of the practical benefits of Chevron by giving agencies flexibility to implement congressional policy directives with the expertise they have acquired, by maintaining stability in administrative regulation, and by relieving lower federal courts of the burdens of nondeferential review. And retaining nondeferential judicial review in the Supreme Court will preserve the constitutional role of the judicial branch to say what the …
