"What's A Computer?" Exploring Insurance Agents' Role In Small Business Cyber Insurance Transactions, Dalton A. Crabtree
"What's A Computer?" Exploring Insurance Agents' Role In Small Business Cyber Insurance Transactions, Dalton A. Crabtree
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This mixed-methods study examined how insurance agents' role identity impacts cyber insurance transactions, addressing gaps in professional practice and academic literature. Small businesses increasingly rely on cyber insurance for protection as cyber risk continues to evolve. The study employed sequential explanatory methodology with 25 interviews across three groups: insurance agents (n=15), corporate cyber insurance professionals (n=5), and small business owners (n=5). Thematic analysis using Katz and Khan's Role Episode Model informed development of the Cyber Insurance Role Identity Scale (CIRIS), tested with 100 agents. Six themes emerged. Key findings reveal that successful cyber insurance transactions require agents to transition from …
Genetic Engineering Of Esophageal Organoids: Crispr-Based Knock-In For Cell Lineage Tracing, Kyung-Pil Ko, Jae-Il Park
Genetic Engineering Of Esophageal Organoids: Crispr-Based Knock-In For Cell Lineage Tracing, Kyung-Pil Ko, Jae-Il Park
Faculty, Staff and Student Publications
Esophageal organoids serve as powerful systems to study epithelial lineage hierarchies and cancer biology. Gene manipulation in these organoids has traditionally involved overexpression or knockout strategies. However, CRISPR-/Cas9-based knock-in (KI) approaches now enable precise cell lineage tracing and live imaging. Here, we describe protocols to generate fluorescent KI organoids from murine esophageal epithelium by tagging Krt13 (BFP) and Sox2 (mNeon). These dual-reporter organoids allow direct monitoring of growth dynamics and differentiation trajectories. We outline CRISPR/Cas9 design, donor construction using homology-independent approaches (CRISPaint), delivery into organoid cells, enrichment and single-clone isolation, and validation by fluorescence. For organoids, homology-directed repair (HDR) can …

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
Blastocystis is the most ubiquitous intestinal protozoan parasite found in humans and animals worldwide. Commonly, ST7 and ST6 are the major Blastocystis subtypes reported in birds, and their frequencies fluctuate greatly with various factors. However, little literature is available on the prevalence and subtype characteristics of this parasite in free-living wild birds in the same city. For this purpose, a total of 114 fresh fecal specimens were collected from wild free-living birds in urban districts of Xinxiang city and tested for Blastocystis using PCR of the barcoding region of the small subunit ribosomal RNA (SSU rRNA) gene. The positive isolates …
Faculty Perceptions Of Interprofessional Education To Prepare Physical Therapy Students For The Workforce, Marianne Hanover, Heather Pederson
Faculty Perceptions Of Interprofessional Education To Prepare Physical Therapy Students For The Workforce, Marianne Hanover, Heather Pederson
Journal of Educational Research and Practice
Interprofessional collaboration (IPC) aims to enhance patient care by improving outcomes. Interprofessional education (IPE), a teaching approach for IPC, is now mandated in Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) curricula. Although faculty perceptions of IPE in other healthcare fields are documented, studies exploring faculty attitudes in entry-level DPT programs remain limited. In this qualitative study, we investigated how DPT faculty perceive IPE as a means to prepare students for clinical practice. Using Rogers’s Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) theory as a guide, we collected data during interviews with PT faculty in DPT programs. Study findings suggest that the advancement of IPE in …

Surprises From The Shadows: Confronting Intrusions From Bots & Generative Ai In Survey Research, Vincent Cho, Sofia I. Duenas
Journal of Educational Research and Practice
Unbeknownst to many researchers, online surveys can be vulnerable to attacks from bots and generative artificial intelligence (AI), which can generate hundreds of fraudulent responses instantly. Confronting this challenge to data integrity, we employed an adaptive approach to test the effectiveness of various anti-fraud tactics (e.g., CAPTCHA; honeypot questions; question pairs; open-ended questions) and to distinguish between good-faith human respondents versus bots or fraudsters. Findings revealed that bots with generative AI capabilities bypassed some conventional defenses, including CAPTCHA, and effectively supplied human-like responses to open-ended questions. Other tactics, like removing response incentives and verifying IP addresses, showed promise but came …

Journal Of Indian Physician Associates
This case snippet describes the diagnostic journey and clinical management of a 72-year-old gentleman who presented with progressive cognitive decline, involuntary myoclonus, and severe insomnia. Through a detailed clinical workup, including electromyography and antibody testing, he was diagnosed with Contactin-Associated Protein-Like 2 (CASPR2) antibody-associated autoimmune encephalitis manifesting as Morvan’s syndrome, a rare but reversible neuroimmunological disorder. Prompt initiation of immunotherapy led to gradual improvement, underscoring the value of clinical suspicion, multidisciplinary care, and early intervention. This case serves as a reminder to consider autoimmune etiologies in atypical neuropsychiatric presentations, especially in elderly patients.

Consent For Organ Donation In India: Factors, Challenges, And Opportunities – A Review, Preetha Vijayalakshmi, Yashfeen M
Journal Of Indian Physician Associates
India’s organ donation rate remains under 1 per million population, markedly lower than the consent rates observed in Canada and Spain. This narrative review synthesizes evidence from Indian and global literature to explore systemic, sociocultural, and individual factors influencing consent for deceased organ donation in India. Systemic barriers include delayed referrals, inadequate hospital infrastructure, and a shortage of trained transplant coordinators. Sociocultural factors, such as family decision-making under the Transplantation of Human Organs Act (1994), religious misconceptions, and concerns about bodily integrity, significantly hinder consent. Individual factors, including low awareness and a knowledge–action gap despite altruistic intentions, impede progress. Comparative …

Assessing The Impact: Cerebral Palsy On Domains Of Quality Of Life, Sheetal Malhan
Journal Of Indian Physician Associates
Introduction Cerebral palsy (CP) is characterized by a group of permanent movement and posture disorders resulting from nonprogressive disturbances in the developing fetal or infant brain. CP is a chronic condition affecting approximately 1.2–2.5 per 1000 school-aged children, often accompanied by comorbidities such as visual, auditory, and feeding impairments, delayed language development, and epilepsy. These related challenges can markedly reduce a child’s quality of life (QoL), particularly when compounded by social and environmental limitations. Despite the importance of understanding QoL outcomes in this population, limited region-specific data exist. Understanding domain-specific QoL can guide targeted rehabilitation planning.
Methods A cross-sectional survey …
God’S Vow: A Note On C.S. Lewis’S Idea Of Human Freewill And Divine Omnipotence, Matthew Mckenna
God’S Vow: A Note On C.S. Lewis’S Idea Of Human Freewill And Divine Omnipotence, Matthew Mckenna
Mythlore: A Journal of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Charles Williams, and Mythopoeic Literature
This note uses G.K. Chesterton’s understanding of vows as a hermeneutical key for a line from C.S. Lewis’ Miracles where Lewis says that God relinquishes part of his power by creating freewill. Chesterton’s idea of vows sees them as acts of power and freedom which paradoxically limit one’s freedom in the future by compelling one to keep one’s vow. The vow is an act of freedom which relinquishes one’s freedom by committing one to certain actions. Viewed through this lens, God’s creation of freewill is seen as an act of power and freedom.

Mythlore: A Journal of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Charles Williams, and Mythopoeic Literature
This note revisits J.R.R. Tolkien’s trip to the Netherlands, March 28-31, 1958, including his attendance at the Rotterdam Hobbit-maaltijd (“Hobbit Meal” or “Hobbit Dinner”), and afterwards. It focuses specifically on his interactions with Prof. Dr. Maartje Draak, a prominent Dutch Celticist. Although Prof. Draak is not mentioned in René van Rossenberg’s paper, “Tolkien’s Exceptional Visit to Holland: A Reconstruction” (Mythlore 1996), items from Prof. Draak’s archives at Utrecht University and an offprint paper she sent to Tolkien in 1959 allow us to recover Tolkien’s acquaintance with this important Dutch scholar, to enhance our picture of the famous Hobbit Dinner, …

Overview Of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Grace Ann Steiner
Overview Of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Grace Ann Steiner
The Kabod
Traumatic events are often unexpected and can be experienced in a variety of ways; individuals may directly be involved, witness the event, or hear about traumatic events occurring to people that they know. Traumatic events can be due to human actions (such as war, terrorism, violence, or sexual abuse), but can also be secondary to nature (such as hurricanes, tsunamis, tornadoes, or flooding); the event itself does not determine if an event is traumatic, but rather, the individual’s perception and experience of such an event. Thus, trauma can occur at any developmental age and vary between individuals due to personal …

This paper will give an overview of primary hyperaldosteronism, which is a condition characterized by the excess production of aldosterone from the adrenal glands. Since its discovery in 1954 by James Conn, primary hyperaldosteronism has been discovered to have a variety of causes, with the more common ones being either benign tumors or inherited disorders such as congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Affected patients display conditions such as hypertension or hypokalemia, which may lead to symptoms including headaches, blurred vision, or dizziness. This paper will cover the anatomy of the adrenal glands, along with the normal physiology and synthesis of aldosterone. Aldosterone’s …
Types Of Burns And Burn Care, Frances Hagberg
Types Of Burns And Burn Care, Frances Hagberg
The Kabod
Burn treatment focuses on minimizing tissue damage, preventing infection, managing pain, and promoting optimal healing. The severity of burns—classified as first, second, or third degree—determines the appropriate therapeutic approach, which may include wound cleaning, topical antibiotics, dressings, fluid resuscitation, and surgical interventions such as debridement or grafting. Effective treatment requires careful monitoring and support through each healing stage to reduce complications and improve functional and cosmetic outcomes.
