2020-Current year OA Pubs

Prolonged or broad-spectrum antibiotic courses are associated with intestinal dysbiosis and cytopenias, and depletion of hematopoietic progenitor populations after antibiotics is associated with loss of peripheral immune cells, leading to increased susceptibility to systemic infections. We evaluated the bone marrow hematopoietic compartment in a murine model of antibiotic exposure. Single-cell RNA sequencing revealed a substantial and previously unrecognized depletion of bone marrow B cells at all stages of development in antibiotic-treated mice, further confirmed by flow cytometric analysis. Depletion of the microbiota was associated with rapid changes in the peripheral B-cell compartment, yet fecal microbiota transfer did not rescue either …

Community violence intervention and prevention (CVI) programs aim to reduce gun violence and its associated harms through community-driven strategies. Programs’ long-term sustainability is challenged by inconsistent and insufficient funding, however, which can be detrimental to the individuals who depend on these services as they navigate recovery from a violent injury. As states explore new funding mechanisms, Medicaid reimbursement has emerged as a viable option, however little implementation guidance exists specific to this policy option in the CVI context. This study combines the implementation science and public health infrastructure literatures with data from a recent multistate case study (n = 17 …

Cultivating A Culture Of Civility In Healthcare, Clayton Edward Collins, John Michael Leger

Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)

Promoting civility in healthcare is necessary to provide safe, reliable, and effective patient care (Frankel et al., 2017). The consequences of incivility especially affect many aspects of care provision and are detrimental to a healthy work environment. The lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have contributed to an increase of incivility in the workplace, and additional efforts to promote a culture of civility are paramount to enhancing patient care quality and staff psychological safety (El Ghaziri et al., 2022). Assessment of the work environment can reveal opportunities for improvement and more effective interventions to meet organizational needs (Harris et al., …

Wadsworth Associates Llc V. New York State Division Of Housing And Community Renewal

All Decisions

In this Article 78 proceeding; the Appellate Division affirmed a Supreme Court judgment that partially denied and partially granted a landlord's petition challenging a DHCR determination. The court upheld DHCR's finding of a rent overcharge due to the landlord's failure to adequately substantiate individual apartment improvements (IAIs); citing an identity of interest with the contractor and insufficient proof. However; the court affirmed the vacatur of treble damages; finding DHCR's imposition arbitrary and capricious. The court reasoned that DHCR deviated from its own precedent; which generally does not treble damages when claimed improvements are undisputed but costs are not fully established; …
