Tracking Removed And At-Risk Government Information, Molly Blake, Sanga Sung, Ben Amata, Jenny Mcburney

SJSU Open Access Conference

The current U.S. administration is intentionally undermining public access to information as well as scholarly research by removing documents, reports, datasets, images, and language from government websites. In doing so, this administration is withholding publicly-funded information that we have a right to access, including data from government-sponsored research, historical information about marginalized groups, and speech transcripts. In removing these materials, the government is also deliberately sabotaging research related to topics it does not like, such as LGBTQ health, COVID, and climate change.

It is difficult to grasp the scope of this problem: how do we know when something is gone, …

Comparing Hbs Haplotypes Identified With Different Sets Of Snps: An Analysis In A Sample Of Hbas And Hbss Individuals From São Tomé E Príncipe, Licínio Manco, Inês Salgado, Sara Miguel Almeida, Celeste Bento

Human Biology Open Access Pre-Prints

Sickle cell anemia (SCA) occurs in individuals who are homozygous for the sickle hemoglobin (HbS) allele. The haplotypes of the HbS alleles can be traditionally ascertained through the analysis of five to eight informative restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) within the HBB gene cluster, defining the five major HbS haplotypes, commonly referred to as Bantu or Central African Republic (BAN/CAR), Benin (BEN), Cameroon (CAM), Senegal (SEN), and Arab-Indian (AI). In a recent study, it was suggested that four single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs)—rs3834466, rs28440105, rs10128556, and rs968857—are sufficient to characterize most of the HbS haplotypes. In the present study, we investigated the …

Emotional Labor, Dissonance, And Job Satisfaction Among Black Student Affairs Professionals, Joseph Glover

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Black Student Affairs Professionals (SAPros) at predominantly White institutions (PWIs) experience high levels of emotional labor that diminish job satisfaction and increase turnover, threatening workforce diversity and culturally affirming student support. However, limited understanding exists of how emotional labor relates to job satisfaction among Black SAPros at PWIs and whether emotional dissonance mediates this relationship. Grounded in Hochschild’s emotional labor theory, the purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to examine the relationship between emotional labor scores as measured by the Emotional Labor Scale and job satisfaction scores as measured by the Job Satisfaction Survey and to determine whether emotional …
