Raphael Say Dan Non-Toxic Masculinity Dalam Dunia Mode Prancis, Layyina Arifah Shabira, Airin Miranda

Multikultura

Exploring Local Residents’ Response To Ecological Resettlement Policy: A Tpb-Based Study In Zhalong National Nature Reserve, Zhi Wang

Double Helix Methodology

Studies on residents' ecological conservation behaviors primarily focus on personal and socio-economic factors, neglecting crucial psychological aspects like intentions and perceptions. To address this gap, this study investigates the implementation of the ecological resettlement policy in the Zhalong Nature Reserve in northeast China, analyzing how residents respond to it using the Theory of Planned Behavior as the analytical framework. Drawing on survey data, the study quantitatively assesses the influence of residents’ attitudes, subjective norms, and policy evaluations on their behavioral intentions. The results reveal that higher evaluation of ecological resettlement policy promotes policy adoption. Attitudes towards policy positively influence intentions, …

Atypical Abdominal Pain: Uncovering Malignant Peritoneal Mesothelioma In Suspected Crohn's Disease: A Case Report, Catherine Loehr, Lara Boudreaux, Ann Porter Uhlhorn, Nisha Loganantharaj

School of Medicine Faculty Publications

BACKGROUND: Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM) is a rare and aggressive cancer from the serosal membranes of the abdominal cavity. In the United States, MPM accounts for about 10-15% of all mesothelioma cases, and translates into approximately 600 new cases diagnosed annually. It is typically diagnosed in Caucasian individuals, and while asbestos exposure is a well-established risk factor for pleural mesothelioma, its association with peritoneal mesothelioma remains less clear. Clinical symptoms of MPM, such as abdominal pain, bloating, and weight loss, overlap with other gastrointestinal disorders, which often leads to delayed diagnosis. This case report presents a unique instance of MPM …

School of Integrative Biological & Chemical Sciences Faculty Publications

Background: Aedes (Stegomyia) aegypti and Ae. (Stegomyia) albopictus mosquitoes are major vectors of diseases including dengue, Zika, chikungunya, and yellow fever. The excessive use of chemical insecticides has caused resistance in mosquito populations, along with negative environmental impacts and harm to non-target organisms. In this regard, mosquito control strategies, such as passive mass trapping interventions with autocidal gravid ovitraps (AGO) offer a promising alternative. Here we report the results of a pilot study evaluating a passive mass trapping treatment using AGOs against Ae. aegypti in the city of Harlingen, Texas, USA, during the peak mosquito season.

Methodology: Three treatments were …

A Green Manufacturing Model: Joint Optimization Of Maintenance, Scheduling, And Sustainability, Ahmed Attia, Mohamed Darghouth, Ahmed Ghaithan, Awsan Mohamed, Noha Mostafa

Mechanical Engineering

This study proposes an integrated framework for sustainable manufacturing that jointly optimizes production scheduling, maintenance planning, and carbon-conscious energy management. A Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) model is developed to minimize makespan while maintaining machine reliability and ensuring compliance with greenhouse gas (GHG) emission limits. The model incorporates speed scaling as a decision variable, capturing the trade-off between processing time, energy consumption, and machine degradation. Preventive maintenance (PM) and minimal repair (MR) strategies are explicitly modeled using a Weibull-based failure distribution, and a carbon cap constraint is introduced to bound total emissions. A case study demonstrates the model's practical relevance, and …

Reframing Nutrition Policy For Under-Five Children In Thailand: Beyond The First 1,000 Toward 2,500 Days, Saipin Chotivichien, Waraporn Jitaree, Wareethip Phuengpan, Saiyed M. Hyder

Indonesian Journal of Public Health Nutrition (IJPHN)

Malnutrition continues to threaten child health globally, with Thailand mirroring this trend: in 2022, 12.4% of children under five were stunted, 7.2% wasted, and 10.9% obese. While the country’s First 1,000 Days initiative—targeting pregnancy to age two—yielded early success in reducing undernutrition, emerging gaps among 3–5-year-olds prompted a policy shift toward a broader 2,500-day framework. This approach, launched in 2022, extends care from preconception through age five and integrates multisectoral action involving five key ministries. Anchored in the “Power of Three Pillars”—policy, partnerships, and resources—the initiative strengthens local governance, enhances service delivery, and fosters family and community engagement through sub-district …

Mandating Fluoride: A Constitutional Exercise Of Police Power, Anita Jahangiri

Seattle University Law Review

This Note addresses the ongoing debate over fluoridation: the regulation of fluoride levels in public water systems. Extensive research indicates fluoridation, when regulated at the recommended concentration, is both safe and highly effective in preventing dental caries. Better known as cavities, dental caries is a preventable yet widespread health issue that disproportionately affects low-income populations. Reducing dental health disparities among economic classes is a pressing public health issue. Fluoridation is not merely a policy option, but a critical, proven tool to address such disparities and uphold the collective welfare of Washingtonians. This Note focuses on fluoridation as a public health …

Neurodiversity In The Courtroom: Expanding Jury Service Accessibility Beyond Physical Disability, Samantha L. Mabe Oct 2025

Neurodiversity In The Courtroom: Expanding Jury Service Accessibility Beyond Physical Disability, Samantha L. Mabe

Seattle University Law Review

The Americans with Disabilities Act has required equal access to jury service for decades; however, efforts to accommodate jurors with disabilities have been slow to develop beyond some minor accommodations for physical disabilities. While neurodivergent people frequently struggle to navigate a world catered toward neurotypical people, jury service remains inaccessible for many neurodivergent people who need accommodations to attend trial and engage in jury deliberations. If courts and advocates do not consider how to develop accommodations to secure the service of neurodivergent jurors, they will miss out on the unique skillsets that neurodivergent people can bring to resolving disputes.

Embryonic Transcription Factors (TFs) are often reactivated in cancer, driving developmental gene programs that support phenotypic plasticity. Metabolic adaptation fuels this plasticity by supplying energy and molecular building blocks for growth. RUNX2, the master regulator of bone morphogenesis, is ectopically expressed in epithelial cancer, promoting metastasis through trans-differentiation processes like Epithelial-to-Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) and osteomimicry. By combining omics data with functional validation, we demonstrated that RUNX2 drives cancer cell metabolic rewiring by repressing mitochondrial respiration while promoting anabolic processes. We showed that RUNX2 upregulates key genes of lipid biosynthesis by regulating and cooperating with SREBP1. In vivo expression analysis in …

Trained immunity is a long-term functional reprogramming of innate cells that allows for the formation of immune memory akin to adaptive responses, but with a more rapid nonspecific response. We recently identified an anti-inflammatory trained immunity response, termed trained tolerogenic immunity (TTI), induced by low virulence Candida dubliniensis, that protects against acute lethal polymicrobial sepsis via myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs). Trained immunity and MDSCs arise following hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell (HSPC) expansion in the bone marrow. Here, we show that C. dubliniensis induces inoculum-dependent protection and HSPC expansion, whereas depletion of HSPCs following C. dubliniensis immunization abrogates protection. We …
