In Vivo Pharmacokinetic Evaluation Of A Gastro-Retentive Triple Drug Delivery System Utilizing Natural Polymers For Enhanced Helicobacter Pylori Eradication, Edukulla Satheesh Kumar, Hindustan Abdul Ahad, Thirumalesh Naik Sugali Banoth

Bulletin of Faculty of Pharmacy Cairo University

This study evaluates the in vivo pharmacokinetics of triple-drug gastro-retentive formulation (metronidazole- Plantago ovata seed mucilage/ clarithromycin- Abelmoschus esculentus fruit mucilage/enteric-coated pantoprazole) for Helicobacter pylori eradication, with a focus on pharmacokinetic parameters (e.g., relative bioavailability vs. conventional doses) as the true contribution. In a cross over study using six rabbits, plasma concentrations of metronidazole, clarithromycin, and pantoprazole sodium were measured via High Performance Liquid Chromatography technique, and pharmacokinetic parameters were determined. A single dose of the optimized formulation (C-8) produced optimal drug levels, with a mean Cmax of 24.36 ± 0.84 μg/mL and tmax at 6 hours. The other pharmacokinetic …

Global Seafarer Shortage In The Age Of Automation “A Cross National Analysis Of Maritime Workforce Gaps, Met System Performance, And Digital Readiness”, Zouheir Abd Elfattah Badawy

Blue Economy

The maritime transport sector is confronting an intensifying shortage of qualified seafarers, particularly licensed officers, which poses substantial threats to global logistics and shipping sustainability. This study conducts a comparative analysis of four key seafarer supplying nations the Philippines, India, China, and the United Kingdom to identify root causes of this workforce crisis in the context of technological change and automation. Utilizing a mixedmethods design, the study integrates statistical workforce data from BIMCO, ICS, and national maritime bodies with survey responses from 428 cadets and junior officers enrolled in accredited MET institutions. The findings reveal that although India and the …

Global Citizenship Education In Ghana: An Evaluation Of The Junior High School Social Studies Curriculum, Benjamin Takyi, Anthony Bordoh Dr., Isaac Eshun Prof., Frederick Owusu Nov 2025

Global Citizenship Education In Ghana: An Evaluation Of The Junior High School Social Studies Curriculum, Benjamin Takyi, Anthony Bordoh Dr., Isaac Eshun Prof., Frederick Owusu

Journal of Educational Research and Practice

The aim of global citizenship education (GCE) is to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to address global challenges. Despite its significance, GCE is often insufficiently integrated into curricula, particularly in the Global South. The purpose of the study was to examine the alignment of the junior high school standards-based social studies curriculum with GCE principles. Using a qualitative case study design and content analysis, the study explores cognitive, socio-emotional, and behavioral aspects of global citizenship embedded in the curriculum. The findings indicate a strong alignment between social studies learning outcomes and GCE principles, with content incorporating …

Evaluating Student Proficiency In Quantitative Reasoning, Gabriel Chavez, Jennifer Clinkenbeard, Tolga Tezcan, Celine Pinet, Jennifer Duggan, George Beckham, Sumadhur Shakya, Christina Zhang

Numeracy

Quantitative Reasoning (QR) competencies are increasingly vital for academic and professional success across disciplines. This study examines the QR proficiency of over 400 undergraduates through a mixed-methods approach, integrating survey-based self-assessments (n = 469) with direct evaluations of final exams (n = 80). This study took place at a public, primarily undergraduate, four-year state university in Northern California with approximate enrollment of 7,500 students. Although students reported frequent engagement in foundational QR tasks— such as calculation and interpretation—rubric-based scoring revealed inconsistent levels of mastery, particularly on higher-order skills like evaluation and coherence. Regression analyses linked confidence to calculation …

Does The National Benchmark Quantitative Literacy Test Predict Performance In Stem Programmes In Commerce, Engineering And Science?, Robert N. Prince Nov 2025

Does The National Benchmark Quantitative Literacy Test Predict Performance In Stem Programmes In Commerce, Engineering And Science?, Robert N. Prince

Numeracy

In South Africa, university completion rates remain low, with only 23% of students finishing within the regulation time (three or four years). These completion rates continue to reflect racial inequalities, with ‘White’ students significantly more likely to complete degrees in professional fields such as engineering and commerce compared to their ‘African’ counterparts. To address these challenges, the South African higher education institutions, through their umbrella body, introduced the National Benchmark (NB) tests to assess students’ academic literacy skills—including quantitative literacy, academic literacy, and mathematics—to identify those most at risk of struggling with the curriculum. The NB tests aim to evaluate …

Cross-Pollination Of Ideas: Exploring The Mental Health Implications Of Academic Pressure In Dual Enrollment Programs For Students, Lorenzo Rene Nov 2025

Cross-Pollination Of Ideas: Exploring The Mental Health Implications Of Academic Pressure In Dual Enrollment Programs For Students, Lorenzo Rene

Concurrent Enrollment Review

The research examined the mental health implications due to the DE program’s academic pressure on students. The available literature demonstrates that the DE program is associated with a large number of students entering colleges, academic success in college, and self-confidence development. Nevertheless, the DE program exerts some pressure on the high school learners in terms of their mental health. Besides managing the high school curriculum, DE students are supposed to complete the relevant degree courses in the DE program. This leads to duplication of academic classes that strains the work-life balance, leading some students to encounter high levels of stress …

Supporting Faculty Liaisons In Concurrent Enrollment Programs, Nicole A. Diederich Nov 2025

Supporting Faculty Liaisons In Concurrent Enrollment Programs, Nicole A. Diederich

Concurrent Enrollment Review

Collaboration between concurrent enrollment instructors and faculty liaisons is crucial to a successful concurrent enrollment program. Discussions of such collaboration importantly focus on bridging the gap between high school and college for students, teachers, and curriculum, and, as a result, do not always emphasize the challenges, rewards, and assistance faculty liaisons experience. This article shares the perspectives of faculty liaisons at a private four-year NACEP-accredited institution: their reasons for taking on the role, the challenges they experience, and the supports they appreciate and want. Focusing more exclusively on faculty liaisons’ perspectives reveals that, despite some depictions of them as antagonistic, …
