The concept of Enhanced Activities of Daily Living (EADL) recognizes that older adults engage in activities that go beyond the basic and instrumental ADLs. EADLs contribute to health, well-being, and social engagement, which are critical for successful aging. However, they are understudied using the ADL framework, including what older adults consider EADLs. We conducted an online survey wherein participants chose four EADLs from 31 activities (e.g., arts and crafts, working, hiking) developed based on the literature and prior interviews. Then, they rated their satisfaction and challenges for each activity (1 = strongly disagree to 5 = strongly agree). The final …

Sinaya: A Philippine Journal for Senior High School Teachers and Students
Just like leveling up in a game, dating has transcended the physical world into the realm of multiplayer games where individuals are able to communicate and interact with one another within the virtual third space, the magic circle–the boundary that separates life from play. Within these immersive environments, players create shared experiences that often extend beyond the screen, blurring the line between in-game interactions and real-life emotions. This blurring can lead to emotional spillovers and identity challenges as players navigate the complexities of digital intimacy in world and relationship formation. To define the fluidity of the magic circle, the study …

Reliable assessment of prognosis after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is essential to inform clinical decision-making and prevent premature assumptions of poor outcome. The enhanced SAH (eSAH) score combines three routinely available variables-age, Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), and subarachnoid hemorrhage blood volume (SAHV)-to provide an objective framework for early outcome stratification. SAHV is estimated using the ABC/2-derived ellipsoid method applied across five major cisternal compartments on non-contrast CT. While the eSAH score has shown promise in initial derivation studies, its external performance and calibration have not yet been validated across diverse healthcare settings. We conducted a retrospective cohort study using consecutive …

In the mid-twentieth century, the United States of America had an unsung problem. The country had emerged from World War II as a superpower and the high of victory was still fresh, but under the surface the nation was desperately searching for stability to cope with the trauma of war. This search saw a cultural push back to traditional values and gender roles and a heavy focus on the nuclear family as the heart of society. As such, a great amount of pressure was placed on the shoulders of the American housewives who were at the center of the home and …

In recent years, smart healthcare systems (SHS) spurred by the Internet of things have revolutionized how people manage their health. Despite their numerous benefits, SHS still face many challenges worldwide, including limited user motivation. This study builds on the valence-instrumentality-expectancy theory to examine the motivational factors influencing the use of SHS, while also considering the moderating role of social support. We conducted two studies— one in the United States and the other in Qatar—to assess how well the proposed model applies across different cultural contexts. Our findings show that the model explains users’ motivations to use SHS and the interdependencies …

Green Bonds As A Green Investment To Prevent Greenwashing And Green Financial Crime In Indonesia, Cita Yustisia Serfiyani
Indonesia Law Review
Overcoming the climate crisis should not only be pursued from the aspect of technological invention but also from the financial aspect through issuing securities instruments that align with the green economy mission. Unfortunately, irresponsible parties such as corporations still use the green economy concept for personal gain through greenwashing and green financial crime. The presence of green bonds as green instruments shows a positive trend towards improving the quality of environmentally friendly technological innovations, building green infrastructure, and increasing income in line with increasing public participation in climate issues. However, its application in Indonesia is constrained by the complexity of …

This study examines the effects of Official Development Assistance (ODA) on Nigeria’s economic growth, social welfare, and political development from 1960 to 2024. Using thematic content analysis, the findings reveal that ODA’s impact has been marginal, falling short of expectations. Instead of fostering economic growth and strengthening social and political systems, ODA often generated unintended outcomes.
