Library Staff Publications

Allied professionals comprise a significant portion of the law library workforce, yet their experiences and career pathways are often overlooked in discussions about the profession’s future. This article presents findings from a survey examining how allied professionals pursue professional development, upskilling, and career mobility. While respondents demonstrated a strong commitment to growth, opportunities varied widely and were often limited by institutional support. The authors discuss the survey findings, explore the implications for the profession, and offer recommendations for better supporting allied professionals and recognizing their essential contributions to law librarianship. This is the first in a two-part series.

Mandatory Cooperation Under International Law, Evan J. Criddle, Evan Fox-Decent Jan 2026

Mandatory Cooperation Under International Law, Evan J. Criddle, Evan Fox-Decent

Faculty Publications

Humanity in the twenty-first century faces serious global challenges and crises, including pandemics, nuclear proliferation, violent extremism, refugee migration, and climate change. None of these calamities can be averted without robust international cooperation. Yet, national leaders often assume that because their states are sovereign under international law, they are free to opt in or out of international cooperation as they see fit. This book challenges conventional wisdom by showing that international law requires states to cooperate with one another to address matters of international concern – even in the absence of treaty-based obligations. Within the past several decades, requirements to …

Star Vale. Design For Gentle Transition, Nadia Sue Juneide Jan 2026

Star Vale. Design For Gentle Transition, Nadia Sue Juneide

Grado en Diseño de Interiores

While perhaps a bit unorthodox, the idea to design a pediatric palliative care facility for my thesis really came from watching a New York Times video on the lack of it in the United States (NYT, 6). Fascinated, this lead to a rabbit hole on what consisted of palliative care, what options there were for parents, and what it looked like in Spain, which concluded in me seeing that the problem is the same here (Porqueviven, 7). A year later, when it was time to chose a topic to design for, I thought I would try to tackle what I …

Osmosis “Where Nature Encourages Becoming”, Jimena Cuevas Tello

Grado en Diseño de Interiores

Osmosis proposes the transformation of “Casa del Marqués de Villora,” designed by Rafael Bergamín, into a cultural and recreational centre dedicated to art, nature, and thought. Located on Calle Serrano in Madrid, the project reimagines the historic building as a “living ecosystem” where visitors can engage with culture while reconnecting with themselves and the environment. The project creates an opportunity to provide not only functional spaces but also spaces capable of supporting reflection, learning, creativity, and renewal in a contemporary city such as Madrid, where there is constant movement, stimulation, and acceleration that often leave little room for contemplation and …

Golden Symbiosis, Marta Susperregui Muñoz Jan 2026

Golden Symbiosis, Marta Susperregui Muñoz

Grado en Diseño de Interiores

The concept of Golden Symbiosis emerges from the desire to redefine the relationship between aesthetics, wellbeing, and nature. The term Golden refers to the therapeutic and symbolic value of bee-derived products such as honey, propolis, royal jelly, beeswax, and pollen. For centuries, these natural substances have been associated with healing, nourishment, and regeneration. Within the project, they form the basis of the clinic’s treatment philosophy while representing a return to more restorative and preventative approaches to skin health. The term Symbiosis refers to a mutually beneficial relationship between different living systems. Applied to this project, it becomes the guiding architectural …

The House That Builds A Book, Mercedes Vergara Urquijo Jan 2026

The House That Builds A Book, Mercedes Vergara Urquijo

Grado en Diseño de Interiores

The project proceeds from the hypothesis that a house can build a book: architecture does not passively house writing but actively participates in its production through physical and sensory variables, height, light, colour, texture, acoustics, correlated with specific cognitive states in the writing process. This hypothesis draws on Michel Foucault’s theory of heterotopia, on Evidence-Based Design (EBD), on the phenomenology of architecture, and on cognitive-behavioural research into creativity and attention. The theoretical framework that follows sets out, in full, the four bodies of theory the project relies on before turning, from section 2.8 onward, to the resulting programme
