Early Prediction And Diagnosis Of Peripheral Neuropathy In Type 2 Diabetes Using Biochemical Parameters, Eman Naim Taher, Narjis Hadi Al – Saadi Feb 2026

Early Prediction And Diagnosis Of Peripheral Neuropathy In Type 2 Diabetes Using Biochemical Parameters, Eman Naim Taher, Narjis Hadi Al – Saadi

Al-Ameed Journal for Medical Research and Health Sciences

Background: Type II diabetes mellitus is commonly related to diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPNP), which manifests as a gradual progression of damage to the peripheral nerves after excluding other causes. As initial alterations may lie hidden, focus has moved to easy crude markers. Neuron-specific Enolase (NSE) was chosen since it increases early after axonal injury, Whereas, Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) reflects neurotrophic activity. Material and Methods: A case control study was done on 45 cases of DPNP after diagnosing through a nerve conduction study (NCS), 48 diabetics without neuropathy DWNP and 45 healthy individuals. Ages ranged from 35 to 60. …

The Stories Of African American Mothers Working Part-Time Without Mandated Job Protections, Chantelle Sharese Yancy Feb 2026

The Stories Of African American Mothers Working Part-Time Without Mandated Job Protections, Chantelle Sharese Yancy

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provides unpaid, job‑protected leave only for eligible workers, and rules tied to hours, tenure, and employer size often exclude mothers working part-time. Research on U.S. family and medical leave has documented inequities in access to job protections. The lived experiences of African American/Black mothers navigating this gap remain underrepresented. The purpose of this narrative qualitative study was to explore the lived experiences of African American/Black mothers who worked part-time without mandated job protections, with specific attention to FMLA. General systems theory provided the theoretical framework, and an Afrocentric paradigm centered African/African American/Black voice …

The Predicting Value Of Grit And Helicopter Parenting On Relational Satisfaction, Ashley Ann Puga Feb 2026

The Predicting Value Of Grit And Helicopter Parenting On Relational Satisfaction, Ashley Ann Puga

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Helicopter parenting has been extensively studied within the emerging adult population. However, previous studies have recruited their participants solely from a university setting. The current literature on grit and emerging adults is limited. Therefore, this study sought to add to the current literature by recruiting emerging adults through multiple platforms, such as multiple social media platforms, to allow non-university participants. This study also sought to add to the current literature on emerging adults and grit. Utilizing the theories of social learning theory and self-determination theory, the purpose of this quantitative, correlational study was to determine if helicopter parenting and grit …

Staff Education To Improve Consistent Utilization Of The Phq-9 Depression Screening Tool, Ekaette Akpabio Feb 2026

Staff Education To Improve Consistent Utilization Of The Phq-9 Depression Screening Tool, Ekaette Akpabio

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project addressed the inconsistent use of standardized depression screening tools in an outpatient behavioral health setting. The purpose of the project was to implement a structured staff education intervention to improve clinician knowledge, confidence, and consistency in PHQ-9 documentation. Guided by the Johns Hopkins Evidence-Based Practice Model, the project involved delivering targeted education to behavioral health clinicians and evaluating practice implications. Findings support that staff education promotes improved documentation practices, supports accurate symptom assessment, and enhances patient safety. Incorporating standardized screening education into onboarding and ongoing professional development may contribute to sustainable, evidence-based mental …

Staff Education To Improve Timely Intake Response And Follow-Up Communication, Evelyn Noel Feb 2026

Staff Education To Improve Timely Intake Response And Follow-Up Communication, Evelyn Noel

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

A lack of staff knowledge regarding timely intake response and follow-up communication processes resulted in inconsistent management of client follow-up at the private mental health clinic in Florida. This gap in practice guided the practice-focused question: Does educating mental health clinical staff on timely intake response and follow-up communication improve staff knowledge in managing client follow-up processes in a private mental health clinic, as evidenced by pre- and post-surveys? This educational initiative employed the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) model, the Johns Hopkins evidence-based practice (JHEBP) model, the Walden University DNP Project Checklist, and the DNP Project Process …

Staff Education To Nurse Practitioners On Proper Std Treatment, Jolanda Monique Amey Feb 2026

Staff Education To Nurse Practitioners On Proper Std Treatment, Jolanda Monique Amey

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This Doctor of Nursing Practice project implemented a structured staff education project to strengthen nurse practitioner knowledge related to the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases in a public health setting. Nurse practitioners often serve as the primary providers of sexually transmitted disease care for underserved and uninsured populations. Maintaining current knowledge of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) treatment guidelines is essential to reducing reinfection, limiting transmission, and promoting safe, evidence-based care. When guideline knowledge is inconsistent or outdated, opportunities for appropriate treatment may be missed. The practice-focused question guiding this project was “Among nurse practitioners in …

Itbs Stimulation Of The Bilateral Ifg/Ipl Alters The Oscillatory Pattern In Asd, Mitra Assadi, Reza Koiler, Ryan Ally, Richard Fischer, Rod C. Scott

Farber Institute for Neuroscience Faculty Papers

BACKGROUND: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by impairments in social communication, reciprocity, and adaptive behavior. Converging neurobiological evidence suggests that these clinical features arise from aberrant connectivity and dysregulated neuronal oscillations across distributed brain networks. In particular, dysfunction within the mirror neuron regions, concentrated in the inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) and inferior parietal lobule (IPL), has been implicated in deficits of imitation, empathy, and social cognition in ASD. Non-invasive neuromodulation using repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has shown modest behavioral benefits in ASD. However, most studies apply the conventional protocols targeting the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. The …

Early Detection Of Infectious Diseases: A Review Of Recent Advances In Pathogen Identification, Molecular Tools, And Metabolomics-Driven Biomarker Discovery, Patrica Ivy Agorsor, Michael O. Eze Feb 2026

Early Detection Of Infectious Diseases: A Review Of Recent Advances In Pathogen Identification, Molecular Tools, And Metabolomics-Driven Biomarker Discovery, Patrica Ivy Agorsor, Michael O. Eze

Chemistry Faculty Research & Creative Works

The recent COVID-19 pandemic has heightened public interest in noninvasive methods for early diagnosis of infectious diseases. In addition, various government agencies have implemented "infectious disease preparedness" to mitigate future outbreaks. This review highlights conventional and advanced methods for infectious disease diagnosis with an emphasis on emerging mass spectrometry methods. Conventional methods for pathogen identification, such as culture-based techniques and molecular methods, have limitations with respect to sensitivity, specificity, and turnaround time. Recent advances in high-resolution mass spectrometry have revolutionized the field of infectious disease biomarker discovery. These techniques enable the comprehensive profiling of metabolites in various biological samples, identification …
