Entrepreneurial New Firm Survival As A Performance Indicator : A Multi-Level Process Perspective, Szabolcs Németh, Andrea Bikfalvi Phd, Neus Vila-Brunet
Journal of Business & Entrepreneurship
Understanding the survival of new firms requires examining the intricate interplay of internal and external factors across various levels and stages. While existing literature often emphasizes performance metrics, mortality rates, or antecedents of survival, it frequently overlooks the dynamic and continuous nature of entrepreneurial survival. This study extends empirical research on new firm survival through multiple case studies of seven incubated firms within four incubators in Catalonia, north-eastern Spain. aiming to (1) examine new firm survival as a performance indicator by categorizing the elements of the process across various levels and stages; (2) integrate the factors influencing survival by identifying …

Senate Documents
The University Honors Program is working to revise the curriculum and policies to better align with broader University of Dayton mission and values. Currently, the curriculum for the University Honors Program requires students to complete six honors courses (or four honors courses plus an honors thesis for 6 credits) to earn the Honors Diploma. This is equivalent to 18 honors credits. To earn the Honors with Distinction Diploma, students must complete six honors courses plus an honors distinction project (6 credits; equivalent to 24 honors credits).

Pharmacy Faculty Scholarship
ASCPT has a mission to advance clinical pharmacology and translational sciences to reduce health disparities. The development, regulatory, and outcomes (DRO) network within ASCPT strives to advance pharmacoequity globally. Pharmacoequity, coined by Utibe Essien (2021), is the principle that all individuals, regardless of race, ethnicity, geography, or socioeconomic status, should have access to high-quality and evidence-based therapies. This perspective spotlights the network's contributions toward this goal and identifies priority areas to build equitable health outcomes.

Perinatal Depression And Anxiety Among Adolescents: Knowledge, Perception, Care Preferences And Access To Pmh Care, Olajumoke Ojeleye
Perinatal Depression And Anxiety Among Adolescents: Knowledge, Perception, Care Preferences And Access To Pmh Care, Olajumoke Ojeleye
Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)
Introduction: Pregnant and parenting adolescents (PPA) experience perinatal mental health (PMH) disorders, especially perinatal anxiety (PA) and perinatal depression (PND), 3 - 4 times more in comparison to adult mothers. Despite the burden of PND and PA in this population, most of the existing resources and interventions, are either not readily available or targeted to serve the PMH needs of this vulnerable population. This integrative review aims to capture the current state of the science of PND and PA in PPA, focusing on their PMH knowledge, perception of preventive practices, PMH needs, preferences for care, and access to available PMH …

Background:
Conventional angiography remains the standard diagnostic modality for arteriovenous (AV) access dysfunction in hemodialysis patients, but its geometric accuracy is limited. Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) offers superior lesion detection, yet its absolute measurement accuracy remains uncertain. Using three-dimensional (3D) printed vascular conduits as reference standards, we assessed the accuracy of IVUS versus angiography, hypothesizing that complex conduit geometry, quantified by Gaussian curvature, would exacerbate angiographic error.
Methods
Clinically relevant AV access geometries were modeled with computer-aided design (CAD) and fabricated using 3D printing. Lumen diameters were measured by contrast angiography and IVUS and compared with CAD dimensions. Conduit geometry was …

Perspectives On Healthy Romantic Relationships In The Black Youth Community, Jharman M. Lightner
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The perceptions of what constitutes a healthy romantic relationship impact relationship choice that, when unhealthy, has long term effects on mental and emotional wellbeing. This qualitative study explored how African American/Black adolescents ages 18–19 define, perceive, and experience healthy romantic relationships. Using focus group methodology, the study addressed four research questions concerning (1) definitions and perceptions of healthy romantic relationships, (2) influences on relationship beliefs, (3) essential components for maintaining relationship health, and (4) lived experiences with healthy romantic relationships. We conducted two focus groups in which data saturation was reached when no new codes, conceptual insights, or themes emerged …

Assessing The Threat Of Southern Pine Beetle To Pitch Pine In Acadia National Park, Caroline R. Kanaskie, Mark J. Ducey, Jeff R. Garnas
Faculty Publications
Many of the mountain summits of Acadia National Park (ACAD) are dominated by Pinus rigida (Pitch Pine). The ACAD Pitch Pine population is particularly valuable due to its position at the northernmost edge of the species’ range, its association with unique animal and plant communities, and its contribution to the aesthetics of the park. Pitch Pine is host to Dendroctonus frontalis (Southern Pine Beetle [SPB]). As the name suggests, SPB is native to the southeastern US, and can kill large numbers of healthy pines via mass-attack. With warming winters, SPB can establish and persist further north than ever before, presenting …

Background and Purpose
- Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is an innovative technology that is reshaping healthcare with potentials ranging from improved efficiency to advancing personalized medicine.1
- Ensuring the appropriate use of GenAI in teaching and learning has expanded in academia to also ensure graduates can competently use and partner with this technology in their fields.2-4
- GenAI needs to be both accepted and adopted for these initiatives to translate into professional practice.
- Use of GenAI in physical therapy (PT) is being explored5,6and though therapists appear to understand aspects of this technology, current perceptions and actual use of GenAI in practice …

Nurse Well-Being And Patient Specific Outcomes: A Scoping Review, Stacy L. Pryor, Hope Brunner, Janet Chan, Ardis Hanson, Rayna Letourneau, Usha Menon
Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)
Background: In late 2019, the COVID-19 virus spread across the world causing a global pandemic that affected populations, health care workers, and the health care industry. The health and well-being of the nursing workforce received attention due to nurse attrition and the critical projected national nurse shortage. However, the concept of nurse well-being is inconsistently defined in the literature perhaps due to its fluidity. Additionally, patient adverse outcomes continue to occur in the hospital setting and are costly to patients, families, nurses, and healthcare organizations. There is limited information on the association between nurse well-being and the occurrence of adverse …
Encouraging Naturalization: The Broader Effects Of Daca On U.S. Immigration, Emily Battaglia, Thomas Pearson
Encouraging Naturalization: The Broader Effects Of Daca On U.S. Immigration, Emily Battaglia, Thomas Pearson
Center for Policy Research
This paper examines how protection from deportation and work authorization affect immigration outcomes, focusing on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Using a difference-in-differences design exploiting geographic variation in exposure to DACA-eligible immigrants, we find that DACA significantly increased the number of naturalized citizens without increasing the number of noncitizens. This increase is driven by higher naturalization among prior noncitizens, most of whom are likely not DACA beneficiaries. We provide evidence consistent with DACA increasing incentives for, and reducing barriers to, naturalization by protecting undocumented DACA-eligible contacts, suggesting temporary protections can encourage longer-term commitments and permanent residence among existing immigrants.
