The Boy Scouts Of America Merit Badge Program And Career Development, Todd R. Van Auken
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of the study was to determine whether a youth’s career development, as defined by the Career Maturity Inventory (CMI Form C), is associated with motivation, student grade level, and number of merit badges earned as a result of participation as Boy Scouts. For close to three decades there has been a call to improve career counseling for middle and high school youth. However, due to a shortage of school counselors in middle and high schools, counselors are inundated with heavy workloads of various responsibilities and do not always have the ability to focus on youth career development. Thus, …

In 2016, the City of Portland adopted the Vision Zero Action Plan with the goal of eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries on Portland’s streets. The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) also makes a commitment in all of its plans to create a more equitable transportation system by prioritizing areas of the city with a disproportionate number of BIPOC community members and people with lower incomes, all of whom face a greater risk from traffic violence. To achieve its Vision Zero goals, the City and PBOT have undertaken a number of actions, including redesigning streets through traffic calming and traffic …

ABSTRACT
The disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has not only brought higher educational institutions to navigate through uncharted learning experiences, but also affected the perspectives and priorities of students. In the Philippine setting, it has affected the college students’ learning environment in terms of family and personal health, economics, career directions, and persistence to graduate. This study aims to narrate the experience of a college student who, during the course of his/her study, has been affected by family trials and uncertainty. Despite such challenges, the student chose to persist to finish a college degree. The story of the student …

Our Creator has wired us to be in relations and nurturing teamwork and teambuilding is essential. One way to build cohesion is to have our team complete the Clifton Strengthsfinder survey to identify our top strengths. Once these strengths are identified then we can help people to work more in our strengths.
Our school of nursing and online campus have monthly meetings to make sure we are all on the same page and moving in the same direction. All of the committee members have completed the Clifton Strengthsfinder survey and have shared their top five strengths.

E. G. White's Human View And It's Educational Application To Adventist Education, Jinseop Kim
Andrews University Teaching and Learning Conference
I would like to present the educational applications to Adventist Education based on the human view of E. G. White who laid the philosophical foundation. According to her, in order to understand the work of education, it is necessary to consider human nature and God's purpose in creation. So I will first talk about the human state at the creation, God's purpose for them, and His educational approach, and secondly, about the human state after corruption, God's plan for them, and educational approach to him. Through this research, I expect to understand how the class in Adventist educational institutions can …

Autism Camouflaging In Relation To Views About Autism, Mental Health, And Gender Identity, Joshua A. Evans
Global Tides
This study examined relationships between autism camouflaging behavior, personal views about autism, community support, camouflaging emotional impact, depression, anxiety, ability to be one’s authentic self and gender in autistic adults. Participants were recruited through Facebook groups. There were 248 participants (174 cisgender women, 22 cisgender men, and 43 nonbinary people). It was hypothesized autism camouflaging behavior, its emotional impact and authentic self would correlate with depression and anxiety. Gender and camouflaging emotional impact were correlated with depression levels, but camouflaging behavior was not correlated with depression or anxiety. Participants with lower self-reported acceptance of authentic self had higher depression and …
Retrenchment Clauses And The Problem Of Force Majeure: Evidence From Aaup Chapter Collective Bargaining Agreements In Ohio, Dominic Wells, Trey Peters
Retrenchment Clauses And The Problem Of Force Majeure: Evidence From Aaup Chapter Collective Bargaining Agreements In Ohio, Dominic Wells, Trey Peters
Journal of Collective Bargaining in the Academy
In May of 2020, the University of Akron administration invoked the force majeure clause in their collective bargaining agreement with faculty, which they used to justify bypassing the negotiated retrenchment procedures. The AAUP-Akron challenged the decision by administration, but ultimately lost in arbitration. Faculty at the university were laid off without consideration of rank or tenure status. The arbitrators decision in favor of the administration underscores the need for clear retrenchment language in contracts. This article analyzes the retrenchment language in AAUP chapter contracts in Ohio. Contracts are coded for language on financial exigency, conditions, consultation, order, alternatives, notice, and …

Leveling Up, Nearly Falling, & Getting Back On The Ladder: Differentiating Library Research, Apa & Endnote Instruction For Even More Online Students While Not Hurting Yourself In The Process, Josette M. Kubicki
Georgia International Conference on Information Literacy
Note to reviewers: This proposal is for a presentation that builds on what I meant to present at the 2021 conference. Due to a storm, a black-out occurred, and I couldn’t get back online in time to present most of it because my computer was so slow. The GICOIL moderator kindly offered me a break-out room at the end of the day, but only two people showed up, and an informal conversation was more suited. This proposal expands on that presentation and elaborates on what I did this year. I have a much faster computer now and will log in …

The Limits Of Law And Ai, Ryan Mccarl
University of Cincinnati Law Review
For thirty years, scholars in the field of law and artificial intelligence (AI) have explored the extent to which lawyers and judges can be assisted by computers. This Article describes the medium-term outlook for AI technologies and explains the obstacles to making legal work computable. I argue that while AI-based software is likely to improve legal research and support human decision making, it is unlikely to replace traditional legal work or otherwise transform the practice of law.
