Physiological Changes And Clinical Findings In Females Textile Factory Workers, Saad Jone Hamza, Amjed Hassan Abbas, Samir Sawadi Hamoud
Al-Qadisiyah Medical Journal
About 60 million people worldwide work in the textile or clothing industry. The conditions of working and the dust that produced from processing of cotton in industries can cause many morbidities to the health of workers. Many recent studies have found a high ratio of chronic diseases especially chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in those workers. This study was done to assess the effect of working in textile industry from physiological and clinical points of view. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 75 randomly selected textile factory workers, all subjects were females. Information was collected through interview, in addition to …

Al-Qadisiyah Medical Journal
Background: Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is an autoimmune multifactorial disease characterized by progressive destruction of pancreatic beta cells by genetic and environmental factors which leads to an absolute dependence of insulin for survival and maintenance of health. Materials and methods: One polymorphic sites of PTPN22 gene was genotyped in 64 patients with T1DM, and 25 healthy controls. Genotypes were determined by the polymerase chain restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method. Results: The single nucleotide polymorphisms T/T, of the PTPN22 gene may be participate in the susceptibility of T1DM in the Iraqi population. Conclusion: Although PTPN22-T/T polymorphism not associated with …

Al-Qadisiyah Medical Journal
Background: Bad obstetric history (BOH) implies previous unfavorable fetal outcome in terms of two or more consecutive spontaneous abortions, early neonatal deaths, stillbirths, intrauterine fetal deaths, intrauterine growth retardation and congenital anomalies. The immune factors associated with pregnancy loss are classified as autoimmune and alloimmune factors. The autoimmune factors include the synthesis of autoantibodies (anti-phospholipid antibodies, anti-nuclear antibodies, anti-thyroid antibodies). The main types of antiphospholipid antibodies are Lupus Anticoagulant (LA) and Anticardiolipin (aCL) antibodies (IgG & IgM).Objective: To measure the level of anticardiolipin antibodies in the sera of women with bad obstetric history.Patients & method: the study was conducted from …

Patients with higher significant education had the highest knowlegde score in comparison with those with secondary eduction; the difference was statistically highly significant (P<0.001). Patients living in urban areas showed significantly higher mean score than those living in rural areas (P<0.001). Patients who had jobs experienced a significantly higher knowledge score than those without job (P<0.001). Smoker patients had significantly higher KAP scores than non-smoker patients (P<0.001). Conclusion: The study concluded that low/ moderate knowledge, attitude and practice of diabetes among the diabetic patients, which need more effort and role to be played by clinical pharmacist to fulfill this gap.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, accounting for 23% of all female cancers around the globe. breast cancer molecular disease occurs due to the alteration in the genes that control cell growth and proliferation , such as HRE2/neu, c-MYC, K-RAS, RB, P53,PTEN,BRCA1 and BRCA2. The p53 tumor suppressor gene is located on chromosome 17p13, consists of 11 exons and encodes a53-kDa nuclear phosphoprotein, that has a very important function in many cellular processes, such as cell-cycle control, DNA repair , apoptosis and gene transcription. p53 is the most common mutated gene in human cancers , including breast. …

Entamoeba histolytica is the causative agent of amebiasis and mortality worldwide in humans. Although recent studies highlight the recovery of E. dispar andE. moshkovskii from patients with gastrointestinal symptoms. The cultivation of three identical Entamoeba species was done successfully in Lock’s-egg medium , a high number of trophozoite were found in culture .these three identical Entamoeba species did not differentiation by using microscope .but the devolution of scientific they could differentiation by using PCR technique …

Neonatal jaundice is a common health problem in Iraqi neonates and oriental populations in general. Proper diagnosis and management is crucial to prevent brain damage by high concentrations of bilirubin (kernicterus). Neonatal jaundice is also regarded as the most common cause of hospitalization of neonates. It is widely agreed that the causes of neonatal jaundice is alteration of a panel of physiological factors including rapid postnatal destruction of excess red blood cells, derangement of liver clearance function and prematurity. This study was designed to reveal the importance of determining serum albumin level as a predictor of liver function in neonates with …
