Thermal And Reactive Transport Phenomena In Plasma With Numerical Modeling, Nitish Kumar Singh
Thermal And Reactive Transport Phenomena In Plasma With Numerical Modeling, Nitish Kumar Singh
Theses
As semiconductor node technology advances to below 5 nm, it is vital to control Non-uniformity, Line Edge Roughness (LER), and Line Width Roughness (LWR). These factors are crucial for meeting performance, reliability, and yield goals. This study presents a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model for optimizing Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) processes, focusing on the synthesis of thin films such as Silicon Dioxide from precursor gases like Silane and Nitrous Oxide. The model is designed to accurately simulate the complex transport and reaction dynamics within the low-pressure, non-equilibrium plasma environment. The transport of neutral radical species (which form the bulk …

All UNH Survey Center Polls
Three-quarters of Rhode Island residents rate their mental health as very good or good and a majority say their mental health has stayed about the same over the past 12 months. Nearly half of state residents report feeling bothered by feeling nervous, anxious, or on edge at least several days in the past two weeks and one in five have felt isolated from others at least several days in that time. Just over a quarter of Rhode Islanders report high levels of stress, with politics, work, international news, and physical health the most common contributors to daily stress. Rhode Island …
Exploring The Lived Experiences Within The First Two Years After Gray Divorce Among Middle-Aged Adults, April R. Hill
Exploring The Lived Experiences Within The First Two Years After Gray Divorce Among Middle-Aged Adults, April R. Hill
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this research was to explore the lived experiences within the first two years after gray divorce among middle-aged adults. Historically, the research has focused on young adults who have experienced divorce, with limited data on middle-aged adults divorcing after being married for at least a couple of decades. Utilizing the suggestion by Polkinghorne, phenomenological researchers conduct interviews with 5 to 25 participants who have gone through the same phenomenon. Thus, this researcher interviewed 14 participants, reaching saturation. These participants were operationally defined as middle-aged adults who have had recently divorced after 20+ years of marriage. This study …

An Exploration Of The Lived Experiences Of High School Teachers Using Assistive Technology With Students With Physical Disabilities In Inclusive Education Settings: A Transcendental Phenomenology, Chamarah Melonie Joseph
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this transcendental phenomenology was to explore the lived experiences of high school general education teachers using assistive technology for students with physical disabilities in inclusive education settings in Lightner Public School District in Florida. The theory guiding this study was Bandura’s theory of self-efficacy theory. This theory centers on the connection between an individual’s belief in their ability to execute a given task and their level of attainment on that task. The central research question for this research is: “What are the lived experiences of high school teachers using assistive technology (AT) for students with physical disabilities …
Use Of The Casper Test As An Admissions Test For Predicting Academic And Clinical Performance In Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists: A Predictive Correlational Study, Barbara A. Acord
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This quantitative, non-experimental, predictive correlational study examined the extent to which CASPer test scores predict academic and clinical performance among student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs). Certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) provide over 80% of anesthesia services in the United States, showing the importance of effective admissions processes to identify candidates most likely to succeed academically and clinically. Traditional admissions criteria in nurse anesthesia programs largely prioritize grades and may underrepresent non-cognitive attributes associated with student success. A convenience sample used a medium effect size, power of .8, and alpha level of .05, with G*Power calculated to be 85 participants 2nd …
Indicators Of Fontan Circulatory Failure In Pediatric Patients: A Scoping Review Of Early Clinical And Hemodynamic Factors, Marina Mcmahon
Indicators Of Fontan Circulatory Failure In Pediatric Patients: A Scoping Review Of Early Clinical And Hemodynamic Factors, Marina Mcmahon
Student Works
Structured Summary
a. Background/Introduction:
For patients with single ventricle congenital heart disease, the Fontan procedure is the definitive palliative procedure. Although advancements have been made in the surgical technique and management, the Fontan circulation is inefficient and prone to progressive dysfunction. Elevated central venous pressure, non-pulsatile pulmonary blood flow, and reduced cardiac output can lead to many complications, and eventual failure. These conditions can lead to protein losing enteropathy, plastic bronchitis, and hepatic fibrosis which often indicate advanced decline. Though a known problem, there is a lack of standardized criteria to guide optimal intervention timing of Fontan revision prior to …

A Case Of Sweet Syndrome In A Patient With Myelodysplastic Syndrome, Malia’Ka Hall, Do, Elizabeth Hutshinson, Md
Books, Presentations, Posters, Etc.
Introduction: Sweet syndrome, also known as acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis, is a rare inflammatory disorder characterized by the abrupt onset of high fevers and exquisitely tender, erythematous skin lesions that may appear on virtually any area of the body. These lesions typically manifest as papules, nodules, or plaques and often evolve rapidly, contributing to the dramatic clinical presentation. Although uncommon—with only several hundred cases documented in the literature—Sweet syndrome remains an important diagnostic consideration due to its distinctive combination of cutaneous findings and systemic symptoms, as well as its potential association with underlying malignancy, infection, or medication exposure. Presentation: A …

Individuals Deemed Low Risk For Cardiotoxicity With Her2-Directed Antibody Therapy Developed Modest Incidences Of Treatment-Related Lvef Decline And Heart Failure Across A Large Western Us Hospital System, Cameron Smith1, David Page1, Michael Layoun, Li Hsin-Fang
Books, Presentations, Posters, Etc.
Background: Incidence of anti-HER2 cardiotoxicity varies widely from 3-30%. Baseline cardiac risk factors can drastically affect an individual's risk of cardiotoxicity while on anti-HER2 therapies. Risk stratification calculators like the HFA-ICOS tool can estimate relative risk of cardiotoxicity based on preceding risk factors. High risk factors: Heart failure (HF), CAD, severe valvular heart disease. Mild-moderate risk factors: HTN, DM, CKD, age 65-79, anthracycline use, arrhythmia, smoking history, BMI>30. De-intensified surveillance has been proposed for low-risk patients. Objective: Characterize incidence and predictors of cardiotoxicity in a real world population of early-stage breast cancer patients receiving anti-HER2 therapies. Evaluate incidence of …

Introduction: Infective endocarditis (IE) of the native pulmonic valve is exceedingly rare. Reported cases most commonly involve Staphylococcus aureus and occur in patients with intravenous (IV) drug use or congenital valvular disease.
Case Description: A 50-year-old woman with coronary artery disease and a secundum atrial septal defect (ASD) presented after one week of rigors, dyspnea, chest pain, and vomiting. Initial evaluation showed leukocytosis (14.3 K/mcL) and unremarkable vital signs. A previously undocumented high-pitched murmur was noted at the left upper sternal border. Blood cultures drawn in the emergency department grew Streptococcus species at 19 hours, and empiric IV ceftriaxone was …
Changing Employee Motivation From Obligation To Opportunity: Increasing Intrinsic Motivation In Non-Profit Organizations, Evelyn L. Williams
Changing Employee Motivation From Obligation To Opportunity: Increasing Intrinsic Motivation In Non-Profit Organizations, Evelyn L. Williams
Senior Honors Theses
Motivation is a key driver behind tasks within the workforce. Harnessing employee motivation increases productivity, employee retention, efficiency, and output quality. Non-profit organizations, however, are often unable to devote resources to externally increasing motivation. This study presents a motivational model that is built from three motivation theories: Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, Herzberg’s Two Factor Theory, and Self-Determination theory. By incorporating principles from these theories this model helps organizations internalize and increase the effectiveness of their employees’ motivation through increasing the autonomy, competence, and relationality felt by each employee. The six tenets of the REWARD model give non-profit organizations a framework …

The widespread presence of bots on social media platforms, such as X (formerly Twitter), poses a significant threat to the integrity of online information by facilitating the dissemination of misinformation and manipulating public discourse. This study proposes a robust deep learning-based framework, DeepBot, to detect bot participation in trending hashtags and discussions on X. The approach uses a dataset sourced from Kaggle, comprising user profile metadata, including follower count, tweet frequency, account verification status, and engagement metrics. The data were subjected to comprehensive preprocessing, including noise removal, part-of-speech (POS) tagging, and word embedding using the pre-trained GloVe model. RoBERTa is …
Echoes Of Deception: The Historical Impact Of Propaganda And Disinformation On Public Opinion, Justina Zgaljardic
Echoes Of Deception: The Historical Impact Of Propaganda And Disinformation On Public Opinion, Justina Zgaljardic
Honors Theses
This study reconceptualizes propaganda not as a collection of regime-specific messaging practices, but as a structured and adaptive system of perception management operating across political and ideological boundaries. Addressing fragmentation within existing scholarship, it examines how propaganda constructs legitimacy, organizes interpretation, and aligns individual cognition with state objects through recurring narrative strategies and disinformation mechanisms. Using a qualitative framework, the analysis draws on primary materials from four wartime cases: the Stalinist Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, the United States during World War II, and wartime Britain. The findings demonstrate that, despite variation in political systems, propaganda consistently operates through three interrelated …
