Pollution Characteristics Of Heavy Metals In Solid Waste Subgrade Filling Materials, Du Qianhui, Fu Wei, Zhang Junhui, Tang Qiang, Gu Fan
Journal of China & Foreign Highway
Using solid waste in the road engineering field for subgrade filling is an important approach for building green and low-carbon emission roads. However, most solid waste contains heavy metal pollutants to varying degrees, and heavy metals will be released under complex environments including rainfall infiltration and groundwater immersion, thereby causing pollution to the surrounding soil and groundwater if not handled properly. This paper reviewed the current status of research on four aspects, including the comprehensive use of solid waste materials in subgrade engineering, the leaching and migration behaviors of heavy metals in solid waste, and the prevention and control treatment of heavy metals in solid waste. It is found …

A Rapid Test Method For Deflection Of Small And Medium‑Span Bridges, Zhang Aipin, Ma Lindong, Chang Zhugang, Fan Zhihao
Journal of China & Foreign Highway
Bridge deflection response is on e of the most important indicators used for structural condition assessment of bridges. There are currently many methods and devices for deflection measurement, but they are not satisfying in terms of economy, applicability, and measurement accuracy at the same time. This paper proposed a rapid and highly accurate method for measuring mid-span deflection of small and medium-span bridges.By using the high accuracy of displacement transducers in direct contact measurement,an auxiliary measurement device was developed to transfer the deflection of the measurement points on the bridge to the displacement transducer in the form of a rigid connection, thus achieving accurate and dynamic …

Deflection Basin Characteristics Of Distressed Roads Under Moving Load, Cai Yingchun, Xie Shenjian
Journal of China & Foreign Highway
The deflection basins of roads under moving load imply the distress information of subgrade and pavement. Therefore, how to use the information of deflection basins under moving load to rapidly test road distresses non-destructively has received much attention. In this paper, the finite element model of semi-rigid base asphalt pavement was established.By setting different types and degrees of finite element distress models, the continuous changes of surface deflection basins under moving load were analyzed. The results show that when the load moves to the distress area, the center deflection value of surface deflection basins in each distress model will become larger. When transverse cracks appear in the pavement …

The Nordic countries are, together with the United States, forerunners in online record access (ORA), which has now become widespread. The importance of accessible and structured health data has also been highlighted by policy makers internationally. To ensure the full realization of ORA’s potential in the short and long term, there is a pressing need to study ORA from a cross-disciplinary, clinical, humanistic, and social sciences perspective that looks beyond strictly technical aspects. In this viewpoint paper, we explore the policy changes in the European Health Data Space (EHDS) proposal to advance ORA across the European Union, informed by our …

Employee Retention Strategies Of The U.S. Power Industry, Michael Robert Schulz
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Employee turnover in the U.S. power industry continues to be a challenging issue. Leaders of U.S. power organizations tend to be concerned about employee turnover, which has a negative impact on productivity and profitability. Grounded in Herzberg’s hygiene-motivator theory, the purpose of this qualitative pragmatic inquiry was to identify and explore successful strategies that some U.S. power company leaders use to improve employee retention. The participants were seven business leaders from seven power companies across the Midwestern United States who successfully implemented strategies to improve employee retention. Data were collected using semistructured interviews and company website information. Through thematic analysis, …
Changes In Lean Body Mass With Glucagon-Like Peptide-1-Based Therapies And Mitigation Strategies, Ian J. Neeland
Changes In Lean Body Mass With Glucagon-Like Peptide-1-Based Therapies And Mitigation Strategies, Ian J. Neeland
Faculty Scholarship
Weight loss induced by glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) and dual glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R)/glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor agonists is coming closer to the magnitudes achieved with surgery. However, with greater weight loss there is concern about potential side effects on muscle quantity (mass), health and function. There is heterogeneity in the reported effects of GLP-1-based therapies on lean mass changes in clinical trials: in some studies, reductions in lean mass range between 40% and 60% as a proportion of total weight lost, while other studies show lean mass reductions of approximately 15% or less of total weight lost. There …

Reporting Clinical Cases: Advancing Homoeopathy, One Case At A Time, Subhash Kaushik
Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy
Case reports have been invariably contributing to the research world in their own way. They remain a popular genre among the readers, especially the clinicians who lay their hands upon a clinical journal with an interest to pick new knowledge about a certain disease or a drug than to learn about new evidence generated through statistical calculations. Its presence in medical literature is reported to be quite ancient, with some evidence dated back to the Egyptian antiquity. In fact, a well-documented case report is a representative version of many similar clinical success stories.

Broadened Positive And Emotion Congruent Attentional Biases And Emotion Regulation, Michael Mctighe
Broadened Positive And Emotion Congruent Attentional Biases And Emotion Regulation, Michael Mctighe
Theses
Attentional processes or concentration of mental faculties is a vast area of research in the cognitive sciences that is complicated by an abundance of other variables. Evidence overwhelming suggests that exogenous attention is biased toward emotional stimuli. Prevailing theories suggest that positive emotions can improve attentional processes, and that a participant’s emotional state can lead people to better attend to congruent information. Systems associated with emotion regulation overlap with processes related to biased attention. This study sought to further explore the theories of broaden and build, and emotion congruence, while also exploring how emotion regulation influences various types of attentional …

Roles Of Mitochondrial Chchd2 And Gpcr-Associated Β-Arrestin2 In The Pathogenesis Of Lewy Body Disorders, Teresa R. Kee
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Coiled-coil-helix-coiled-coil-helix domain containing 2 (CHCHD2) is a mitochondrial protein that plays important roles in cristae structure, oxidative phosphorylation, and apoptosis. Multiple mutations in CHCHD2 have been associated with Lewy body disorders (LBDs), such as Parkinson’s disease (PD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), with the CHCHD2T61I mutation being the most widely studied. We generated the first transgenic mouse models expressing human CHCHD2WT and the PD-linked CHCHD2T61I mutation driven by the mPrP promoter. CHCHD2T61I Tg, but not CHCHD2WT Tg mice exhibit perinuclear mitochondrial aggregates, neuroinflammation, and have impaired long-term synaptic plasticity associated with synaptic dysfunction. Dopaminergic neurodegeneration, a hallmark of PD, …

Cutaneous Warts Treated With A Single Dose Of The Homoeopathic Medicine Carcinosin 200c: An Evidence-Based Case Report, Sivakumar K, Mamatha Mohan
Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy
Introduction: Cutaneous warts are hyperkeratotic protrusions over the skin caused by human papilloma virus (HPV). These are common throughout the world. Cutaneous warts can occur at any age but are unusual in early childhood and infancy. Warts are often diagnosed clinically on physical examination, but some dysplastic lesions may require laboratory confirmation of HPV. Spontaneous clearance is not always possible, and offering a reliable prognosis to the individual case is impossible. Even though warts are frequently encountered in the day-to-day practice of homoeopathy, and the results are promising, there are limited research studies available in the online database. Case Summary: …
