This study focuses on the discovery of a single-component molecular resist for extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography by employing the ionizing radiation-induced decomposition of carbon–fluorine chemical bonds. The target material, DHP-L6, was synthesized by bonding perfluoroalkyl ether moieties to amorphous dendritic hexaphenol (DHP) with a high glass transition temperature. Upon exposure to EUV and electron beam irradiation, DHP-L6 films exhibited a decreasing solubility in fluorous developer media, resulting in negative-tone images. The underlying chemical mechanisms were elucidated by Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and nanoindentation experiments. These analyses highlighted the possible electron-induced decomposition of C–F bonds in DHP-L6, leading …

The Implementation And Barriers Of Green Recruitment: A Qualitative Study On Green Human Resource Management, Jinghan Wang, Lijun Tang, Tiancheng Zhang, Chris Phillips, Lamis Sultan Aldawish

Plymouth Business School

Green human resource management (GHRM) has become an indispensable strategy in green management. As the first step of GHRM, green recruitment and selection (GRS) has been emphasised as the important and probably the only practice to help the firm obtain green human capital directly. However, research has shown that not many firms implement GRS in practice, and there is a lack of studies exploring the barriers to GRS. This study fills this gap by examining the barriers to GRS across different industries in China. It adopted a qualitative and inductive approach, which is relatively rare in the GHRM field. Based …

Faculty Scholarship

Excitation-contraction coupling in skeletal muscle myofibers depends upon Ca2+ release from the sarcoplasmic reticulum through the ryanodine receptor/Ca2+-release channel RyR1. The RyR1 contains ∼100 Cys thiols of which ∼30 comprise an allosteric network subject to posttranslational modification by S-nitrosylation, S-palmitoylation and S-oxidation. However, the role and function of these modifications is not understood. Although aberrant S-nitrosylation of multiple unidentified sites has been associated with dystrophic diseases, malignant hyperthermia and other myopathic syndromes, S-nitrosylation in physiological situations is reportedly specific to a single (1 of ∼100) Cys in RyR1, Cys3636 in a manner gated by pO2. Using mice expressing a form …

Changes In Multimorbidity Among Hospitalized Adults In The Us, Christine Loyd, Lauren Picken, Richelle Sanders, Yue Zhang, Richard E. Kennedy, Cynthia J. Brown

School of Medicine Faculty Publications

OBJECTIVE: This investigation examines burden of comorbidity measured by the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) and Elixhauser Comorbidity Index (ECI) among inpatients based on age, sex, and race. METHODS: Cross-sectional analysis of 2012-2018 US NIS datasets. Participants were inpatients 55y+. ICD-9/10 codes for admitting diagnoses were used to calculate disease burden using the CCI and ECI. Unweighted mean CCI and ECI scores were compared across demographic variables. RESULTS: An increase in mean CCI and ECI scores across age, sex, and races (p < .001) was identified. Compared to the youngest age group (55-59y), all age groups had higher mean CCI and ECI adjusting for time (p < .001). Increases were greatest in older age groups until age 80-84 for CCI and 85-89 for ECI. The female group had lower CCI adjusting for time (p < .001) compared to males. There was no difference between sex groups in mean ECI (p=.409). Compared with the White group, all other race groups had higher mean CCI adjusting for time (p < .001). Black inpatients had the highest CCI followed by Native American inpatients. Findings were similar for ECI, but with no difference between Hispanic and White groups (p=.434). CONCLUSIONS: Growing multimorbidity burden among adult inpatients across age, sex, and race supports the continued need for programs for preventing and reducing multimorbidity, especially among communities that experience health inequity including older, Black, and Native American patients.

Supporting Students’ Physical Activity Self-Efficacy Within High School Physical Education, Ken Murfay, Aaron Beighle, Heather Erwin, Erin Aiello, Sarah Pyszczynski

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health

Research examining physical activity (PA) is significant because of the known benefits of PA. Studying high school (HS) students is particularly important due to the consistent decline in PA as students age. One strategy to increase PA is to increase someone’s self-efficacy (confidence) to be physically active which is commonly positively associated with PA. Most of the research on how to support physical activity self-efficacy (PASE) comes from outside-of-school interventions with minimal literature on how to support students’ PASE within HS physical education (PE). This study attempted to identify and share practices that current HS PE teachers were implementing to …

An Ecopsychological Reading Of Susan Fennimore Cooper’S “Rural Hours” Sep 2024

An Ecopsychological Reading Of Susan Fennimore Cooper’S “Rural Hours”

The International Journal of Ecopsychology (IJE)

Ecopsychology explores the relationships between the mind (psyche) and the surrounding environment. As Andy Fisher puts it in Radical Ecopsychology (2013), ecopsychology, “would approach the psyche in relation to its earthly or natural home, its native abode” as well as the “the basic shifts in our patterns of identity and relationship that occur when we include our connection to the web of life around us as essential to human well-being.” Fisher considers ecopsychology as a project that paves the ground for changing the role of humans from exploiters to members in the biotic community. If eco or ‘oikos’ refers to …

Concurrent Ependymal And Ganglionic Differentiation In A Subset Of Supratentorial Neuroepithelial Tumors With Ewsr1-Plagl1 Rearrangement, Julieann C Lee, Sonika Dahiya, Kaleigh Roberts, Et Al.

2020-Current year OA Pubs

Neuroepithelial tumors with fusion of PLAGL1 or amplification of PLAGL1/PLAGL2 have recently been described often with ependymoma-like or embryonal histology respectively. To further evaluate emerging entities with PLAG-family genetic alterations, the histologic, molecular, clinical, and imaging features are described for 8 clinical cases encountered at St. Jude (EWSR1-PLAGL1 fusion n = 6; PLAGL1 amplification n = 1; PLAGL2 amplification n = 1). A histologic feature observed on initial resection in a subset (4/6) of supratentorial neuroepithelial tumors with EWSR1-PLAGL1 rearrangement was the presence of concurrent ependymal and ganglionic differentiation. This ranged from prominent clusters of ganglion cells within ependymoma/subependymoma-like areas, …
