The Effects Of Schema Therapy On Shame In Victims Of Intimate Partner Violence, Annette Ibarra Skeen Jan 2025

The Effects Of Schema Therapy On Shame In Victims Of Intimate Partner Violence, Annette Ibarra Skeen

Theses and Dissertations

Intimate partner violence (IPV) is prevalent in the United States and worldwide. Despite the deleterious effects of IPV on personal and societal wellness, there is limited research on effective interventions for IPV victims. Among the detrimental effects of IPV on mental health, shame is a common emotion experienced by IPV victims. Shame can contribute to an array of mental health concerns, such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, PTSD, substance abuse, and suicidality. Using a multiple baseline, singe case design, the aim of the current study was to evaluate the effects of Schema Therapy (ST) on shame on IPV victims. Based …

Involvement Of Integrated Stress Response In Primary And Secondary Dystonia, Tricia Aleena Dulice Simon Jan 2025

Involvement Of Integrated Stress Response In Primary And Secondary Dystonia, Tricia Aleena Dulice Simon

Theses and Dissertations

ABSTRACT Dystonia is the third most common movement disorder in the United States of America , the first two being essential tremor and Parkinson’s disease. Gaining mechanistic knowledge about pathobiology of dystonia is essential for development of effective therapies. As the only therapies currently available are invasive procedures such as deep brain stimulation (DBS) or frequent botulinum toxin injections, it is critical to understand the underlying molecular mechanisms leading to dystonia. A maladaptive integrated stress response (ISR) involving dysregulation of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor  (eIF2) mediated signaling is observed in DYT-PRKRA patient cells. Mutations in PRKRA gene, which …

The Life Of Or Measure 110: Evolution, Implementation, And Impact, Matthew D. Albertson Jan 2025

The Life Of Or Measure 110: Evolution, Implementation, And Impact, Matthew D. Albertson

Anthós

In 2020, Oregon voters approved Measure 110, a groundbreaking policy that decriminalized possession of small quantities of controlled substances and redirected cannabis tax revenues to treatment and recovery centers. This article examines the passage, implementation, and rollback of Measure 110 with HB 4002, enacted in 2024. Drawing on state audits, legislative records, and public health data to contextualize Measure 110 within broader debates on public health, criminal justice reform, and policy-making, Albertson analyzes the progressive policy’s aspirational, reform-minded goals and the practical shortcomings in its enactment. Albertson argues that while Measure 110 has faced justified criticism and partial reversal, it …

Review: Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Actuators For In-Flight Applications, Sabeel Saleem Mohammed Jan 2025

Review: Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Actuators For In-Flight Applications, Sabeel Saleem Mohammed

Anthós

Dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) is a phenomenon observed when high voltage is passed through a dielectric barrier at high frequencies. Current DBD plasma actuators (PAs) excel at laminar fluid boundary layer control but suffer from limited momentum flux and fluid mechanic inefficiencies. In this article, Mohammed analyzes previous discourse on DBD PAs and offers directions for future research and potential DBD PA applications. Previous work on DBD PAs documented thrust generation at high voltages and frequencies, thrust in varying fluid compositions, and vortex generation. However, certain arrangements hinder flow magnitudes, limiting the use of multiple DBD PAs in close proximity. …

The Implementation Of The Queensland Health Smoking Cessation Clinical Pathway In A Western Australian Private Hospital Setting: A Feasibility, Leah Jane Epton Jan 2025

The Implementation Of The Queensland Health Smoking Cessation Clinical Pathway In A Western Australian Private Hospital Setting: A Feasibility, Leah Jane Epton

Theses

As smoking is prohibited on most hospital grounds, hospitalisation presents a valuable opportunity for healthcare professionals to identify smokers, administer smoking cessation treatments, and ensure appropriate inpatient support, as well as continued follow-up on discharge. It has been reported both anecdotally and in published research that encouragement from a health professional is a significant external prompt for a smoker to attempt quitting. It has also been noted in the inpatient setting, one in every 33 conversations will lead to the successful cessation of smoking.

More broadly, a 2012 Cochrane review on smoking cessation interventions for inpatients identified that they are …

Vision Or Exemplification? Augustine And Aquinas On Divine Illumination, Matthew Richard Cain Jan 2025

Vision Or Exemplification? Augustine And Aquinas On Divine Illumination, Matthew Richard Cain

Theses

Many interpreters of Thomas Aquinas since the second half of the twentieth-century emphasise the Platonist dimensions of his thought, particularly his metaphysics. This contrasts with, and is a shift away from, the dominant Aristotelian interpretations of previous generations. Aquinas’s theory of knowledge, however, tends still to be interpreted in Aristotelian terms, according to which Augustine’s Platonist illuminationism is replaced by a Peripatetic emphasis on sensation and abstraction in the soul.

This thesis reexamines the role of illumination in Augustine and Aquinas’ theories of knowledge. It asks whether scholarship today ought to reconceive the relationship between these two major thinkers in …

Defining Barriers In Pulmonary Hypertension: Pulmonary Hypertension In Remote And Rural Settings In Australia: An Epidemiologic Study Aided By Echocardiography, Pyi Naing Jan 2025

Defining Barriers In Pulmonary Hypertension: Pulmonary Hypertension In Remote And Rural Settings In Australia: An Epidemiologic Study Aided By Echocardiography, Pyi Naing

Theses

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a common, complex, and potentially lethal haemodynamic condition with many underlying aetiologies. It is poorly understood, and diagnosis is usually made late in the disease process resulting in poor outcomes even in the developed world. An innovative universal framework is required to achieve early and accurate diagnosis for improved outcomes, especially in remote and rural areas. The thesis documents my substantial body of work that unlocks a collective framework to assist patients with PH, particularly in areas not classically serviced by tertiary level PH care.

The first chapter of my thesis outlines the history, important milestones …

Surface Morphology And Moisture Adsorption/Desorption Characteristics Of Hybrid-Dielectric Moisture Sensors, Ronak Ali

Theses and Dissertations--Electrical and Computer Engineering

Relative humidity sensors are used for high-humidity measurement. Moisture sensors, or dew point sensors are used for low-humidity measurement (< 1 ppmv). The dissertation contains two parts of studies. In the first part, the effect of surface morphology on the response speed of moisture sensors is studied. Moisture sensors using α-Al2O3 films as porous dielectric materials deposited by anodic spark deposition are studied. In this part of the study, a variety of small pores have been studied to investigate the response speed of moisture sensors. Three different surface morphologies have been studied using scanning electron microscopy. One …

The Effect Of Woc Nurse Rounding On At-Risk Patients In The Icu In Reducing Hapis: An Integrative Review, Sydney Conrad, Ayoka Allen, Abby Fitzpatrick, Raquel Luague, Emily Lindall Jan 2025

The Effect Of Woc Nurse Rounding On At-Risk Patients In The Icu In Reducing Hapis: An Integrative Review, Sydney Conrad, Ayoka Allen, Abby Fitzpatrick, Raquel Luague, Emily Lindall

Master's Projects

Hospital-acquired pressure Injuries (HAPIs) are a “never event” and a nursing quality indicator closely monitored by hospitals. Pressure injury prevention strategies have been widely researched and used to reduce HAPI rates; however, despite this research, HAPI rates, especially in the intensive care unit (ICU), remain high. Prevention is a complex, individualized process that requires nursing understanding and application. Wound, Ostomy, and Continence nurses (WOC nurses) are specially trained and certified in wound management and can provide tremendous clinical insight into risk and prevention factors. This integrative review examines whether WOC nurse rounding in the ICU reduces HAPI rates.

Jurnal Ekonomi dan Pembangunan Indonesia

Poverty issues have always been in the world spotlight. Monetary poverty measurements are considered only to be able to capture a small part of the various poverty issues, so measurements involving multidimensions are needed. This study attempts to measure poverty based on multiple levels of deprivation experienced by people in Riau Province. This study uses aspects of health, education, and standard of living. The results of the study show that all indicators simultaneously have a significant impact on monetary poverty. These indicators are calorie and protein consumption, length of schooling, school sustainability, and housing-related indicators. In addition, differences were also …

Studi Komparasi Kesiapan Indonesia Menerapkan Carbon Trade 2025, Muhammad Rayhan Ali Ferdiansyah, Hanif Rosyadah, Fikri Fajar Ramadhan

Jurnal Ekonomi dan Pembangunan Indonesia

This study aims to assess Indonesia’s readiness to implement carbon trading in 2025 to achieve net zero emissions by 2060. The research uses a mixed-method approach, combining literature review, multivariate linear regression, and Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The results indicate that the Human Development Index (HDI) has a negative and significant impact on CO2 emissions in the long term. This impact is greater than the results observed in Singapore and Thailand. With established policies and a demographic bonus in 2045, optimizing human resources is crucial for achieving net zero emissions by 2060.

Phosphodiesterases (Pdes) As Potential Targets For Disrupting The Life Cycle Of Nematodes Using Molecular And Chemical Agents, Kranti Galande Jan 2025

Phosphodiesterases (Pdes) As Potential Targets For Disrupting The Life Cycle Of Nematodes Using Molecular And Chemical Agents, Kranti Galande

Doctoral Dissertations

There are nearly 4,100 species of plant-parasitic nematodes that pose a serious threat toglobal food security, and it is estimated that about $100 billion of crops are damaged annually due to these plant parasitic nematodes. Also, animal-parasitic nematodes pose a major global health challenge, impacting approximately 3.5 billion individuals annually, particularly in tropical and developing areas. PDEs are significant determinants of cellular levels of cyclic nucleotides because the process of lowering active intracellular cyclic nucleotide second messengers (cAMP and cGMP) in cells is mediated through PDEs. Nematode behavior and lifecycle depend on cyclic nucleotide signaling. However, at present, there is …
