This disclosure establishes the public domain agricultural parameters for synthesizing a specialized ruminant milk fat base optimized structurally and biochemically for long-duration lactic acid fermentation and traditional Beurre de Baratte churning. This invention defines the precise thermodynamic climate requirements, soil chemistry thresholds, and botanical poly-culture ratios required to yield a milk lipid profile characterized by robust fat-globule membranes and elevated precursor volatile compounds (yielding distinct diacetyl and hazelnut notes upon culturing), independent of a restricted geographic location or specific animal species. ALSO  This specification establishes the public domain manufacturing protocol to transform raw ruminant milk harvested from the climate-conditioned pasture …

Developing Robust Human Formation For Ministerial Training, Mary L. Parks Jun 2026

Developing Robust Human Formation For Ministerial Training, Mary L. Parks

Obsculta

The Apostolic Exhortation Pastores Dabo Vobis recognizes that effective ministerial formation is holistic, attending to all aspects of a minister’s being. The document therefore outlines four pillars of formation: human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral. In Co-Workers In the Vineyard of the Lord, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) extends the same four pillars of formation to the development of lay ecclesial ministers. The USCCB also applies these pillars to diaconal formation in The National Directory for the Formation, Ministry, and Life of Permanent Deacons in the United States of America.

I Cry At Night Before You: Theologies Of Depression In The Psalms, Travis Spillum Osb Jun 2026

I Cry At Night Before You: Theologies Of Depression In The Psalms, Travis Spillum Osb

Obsculta

This work looks to the Psalms to discover theologies that resonate with experiences of depression. If one struggling with depression feels as if God is angry with them, that their condition is oppressing them, that loved ones have abandoned them, or that God's love for them is wavering, they can utilize the psalmist's words to voice their feelings and express their anguish in prayer to a God who is seemingly deaf to their groaning.

A Holistic Framework For Enhancing Machine Learning Reliability: From Model Architecture And Algorithm Design To Human Interpretability, Kyle Naddeo Jun 2026

A Holistic Framework For Enhancing Machine Learning Reliability: From Model Architecture And Algorithm Design To Human Interpretability, Kyle Naddeo

Theses and Dissertations

Modern machine learning systems can perform well on benchmarks yet fail in ways that are difficult for users to anticipate, interpret, or manage. This dissertation treats reliability as more than accuracy: a reliable system performs when it can, signals when it should not be trusted, and supports abstention, fallback, escalation, or human review. Unlike robustness, which emphasizes performance under shift, corruption, adversarial perturbation, or drift, reliability also requires recognizing limited competence, preserving useful semantic structure when fine-grained certainty is unjustified, and exposing mechanisms that make failures understandable. The dissertation develops this view through four contributions. Uncertainty-aware decision heads provide portable …

Continuing Medical Education As A Workforce Learning System For Artificial Intelligence In Clinical Practice, Tim Murphy, Rob E. Carpenter

Human Resource Development Faculty Publications and Presentations

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly embedded in clinical decision support, documentation, imaging, predictive analytics, and workflow management. However, the educational systems responsible for preparing practicing physicians to use AI have not fully addressed the interpretive, ethical, and organizational demands of AI-supported care. This qualitative case study examined how continuing medical education (CME) shapes physicians’ readiness to integrate AI into clinical practice. Guided by the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and human resource development (HRD), the study analyzed semi-structured interviews with 14 physicians from diverse specialties within a large academic health system. Organizational artifacts, including CME announcements, …

Forest and Society

This study examines how Malaysian national literature with forest themes may strengthen ecological literacy, conservation ethics, and restoration-oriented consciousness in rural education. Responding to the ecological orientation of Forest and Society, the article shifts the emphasis from literacy restoration as an educational outcome to ecological literacy as a cultural and pedagogical pathway for cultivating environmental awareness, stewardship, and responsibility toward forest environments. Using a descriptive qualitative design and an ecologically oriented literary text analysis approach, the study analyses two Malaysian novels, Seorang Tua di Kaki Gunung by Azizi Haji Abdullah and Kudup Hijau Tropika by Husna Nazri. These texts were …

The Empathetic-Perverse: A Contemporary Exploration Of The Grotesque In Southern Gothic Literature, Halle Elizabeth Griggs Jun 2026

The Empathetic-Perverse: A Contemporary Exploration Of The Grotesque In Southern Gothic Literature, Halle Elizabeth Griggs

Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive

Contemporary scholars and critics alike can agree that much of our understanding of Southern Gothic literature and its relation to the grotesque comes from Flannery O’Connor. O’Connor often portrays a transformation within that of grotesque characters (characters with moral flaws and/or physical disabilities). These transformations, depicted through use of pain, violence, and outlandish behavior, help to bring these grotesque characters closer to God, experiencing a sort of divine grace or redemption. Yet, often these grotesque characters are depicted in a way void of compassion. Despite describing fiction from the middle of the last century, most critics still rely on the …

Promiscuous Mutualisms: John Dupré And The Centrality Of Symbiosis In The Living World, Thomas Pradeu Jun 2026

Promiscuous Mutualisms: John Dupré And The Centrality Of Symbiosis In The Living World, Thomas Pradeu

Presidential Fellows Articles and Research

My goal in this chapter is to show that symbiosis, especially symbiotic interactions between ‘macrobes’ (non-microbial organisms) and microbes, is a central topic in John Dupré’s work. This topic is undeniably one of the topics by which Dupré has gained wide recognition among practicing scientists, in addition to his recognition within the philosophical community. I spell out why symbiosis has turned out to be a sort of ideal trope for Dupré, as it encapsulates many of his main personal themes—from promiscuous realism to process ontology. I then show that immunology offers one interesting and complementary entry point into microbial symbiosis …

Evaluating The Impact Of Place-Based Jobs Policies In Distressed Areas, David H. Nason Jun 2026

Evaluating The Impact Of Place-Based Jobs Policies In Distressed Areas, David H. Nason

Regional Research Institute Working Papers

Recent legislation for place-based investments has illustrated a growing debate among U.S. policymakers over strategically targeting specific areas to stimulate economic development. Although the literature on placebased policies is mixed, there is evidence that the benefits of local job-creation programs are most significant in areas with the greatest economic distress. However, most place-based spending in the U.S. comes from state and local business tax incentives that generally do not target distressed places, thus limiting research on existing customized business service and job-training programs for distressed places. This paper aims to fill this gap in the literature by using matching methods …

Canada’S Contributions To International Legal Discourse: Gender, Genocide, And Neocolonial Investments (2015–2025), Heidi Matthews Jun 2026

Canada’S Contributions To International Legal Discourse: Gender, Genocide, And Neocolonial Investments (2015–2025), Heidi Matthews

Articles & Book Chapters

This chapter critically evaluates Canada’s major points of engagement with international law in the period between 2015 and 2025. In partnership with European and Commonwealth allies, Canada has been an active participant in several contentious cases at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), including against Myanmar, Syria, and Afghanistan. Canada has taken progressive legal positions in this litigation with respect to the interpretation and application of international law as it relates to sexual and gender-based crimes, as well as abuses committed against children. However, the past decade also reveals that Canada’s policy responses to its genocide and other crimes against …

Schillebeeckx And Homilies: Why Should Sermons Be More Than Words?, Paulinus Daeli Jun 2026

Schillebeeckx And Homilies: Why Should Sermons Be More Than Words?, Paulinus Daeli

Obsculta

This article highlights the importance of good preaching by exploring the relationship between theology, rhetoric, and spirituality through the theology of Edward Schillebeeckx. It argues that preaching must go beyond words to create a deep experience for the congregation. By exploring Schillebeeckx's theological foundations, the article also discusses the conflict between the liturgy of the Word and the Eucharist in Holy Mass, and suggests a comprehensive approach to preaching. The article emphasizes that both aspects of the Mass must work in harmony to provide spiritual nourishment. Finally, it concludes by emphasizing the importance of preaching as a communal act, which …

Rural Youth In Time Of Climate Change: A Case Of Kajang, Indonesia, Fatwa Faturachmat, Andi Vika Faradiba Muin, Nurhady Sirimorok, Ishak Salim, Karno B. Batiran, Andi Mujetahid Jun 2026

Rural Youth In Time Of Climate Change: A Case Of Kajang, Indonesia, Fatwa Faturachmat, Andi Vika Faradiba Muin, Nurhady Sirimorok, Ishak Salim, Karno B. Batiran, Andi Mujetahid

Forest and Society

Global agriculture is deeply affected by climate change, and more so in rural areas of developing countries, where the local smallholder farmers are already facing pressures from market-induced problems. Although capable of absorbing a large number of youths, small-scale farming is shrinking mainly due to enclosures and price squeezes. Drawing on a case study of five villages in Indonesia that are part of the Kajang Indigenous Communities, we apply an extended sustainable livelihood approach (SLA) to examine the strategies adopted by rural youth in the face of deteriorating small-scale farming. We examine how local institutions and organizations, as well as …

Underground Economic Transformation On The Indonesia-Timor Leste Border: From Stigma To Inclusion Strategy, David Kaluge, Agus Suman, Marlina Ekawati, Frederic Winston Nalle Jun 2026

Underground Economic Transformation On The Indonesia-Timor Leste Border: From Stigma To Inclusion Strategy, David Kaluge, Agus Suman, Marlina Ekawati, Frederic Winston Nalle

Forest and Society

This study investigates the dynamics of the underground economy in the Indonesia–Timor-Leste border region, focusing on how cross-border informal activities evolve into a socially legitimized parallel economic system. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research was conducted in four regencies of East Nusa Tenggara Province that directly border Timor-Leste, utilizing field observations, in-depth interviews, and policy document analysis. The findings reveal that underground economic practices are not merely acts of legal transgression but adaptive responses to structural exclusion, regulatory ambiguity, and the absence of effective state services. Three primary factors sustain these activities: strong kinship-based social networks, cost-efficiency rationality …

Local Public Employees' Perceptions Of Climate Change Adaptation Capacity In South Sulawesi, Indonesia, Andi Lukman Irwan, Andi M. Rusli, Muhammad Chaeroel Ansar

Forest and Society

This study examines the perceptions of local government officials regarding adaptive capacity to climate change in South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. While previous research often emphasizes technical or structural aspects, this study offers a perception-based and multidimensional approach, capturing institutional views from within key climate-sensitive agencies. Data were collected through a structured survey involving 576 purposively selected respondents from five provincial departments. Adaptive capacity was assessed across five dimensions: environmental, social, financial, political, and human resources. The results reveal relatively high awareness of environmental issues and internal collaboration, yet significant weaknesses in financial resources, public engagement, and human capital. Regression analysis …

Movement Ecology And Population Dynamics Of Box-Nesting Black-Bellied Whistling-Ducks (Dendrocygna Autumnalis) In Louisiana, Katie E. Miranda

LSU Master's Theses

Understanding demographic and behavioral processes underlying population dynamics is essential for effective wildlife management, especially for species subject to harvest pressure or experiencing population shifts. Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks (Dendrocygna autumnalis) are currently undergoing a notable northward range expansion and are increasing in abundance across the southeastern United States, raising management concerns for both ecological and economic reasons. As a result, there is growing public support for a special Black-bellied Whistling-Duck-specific harvest season, yet little research has been conducted on this species, particularly within newly-established populations. To address this gap, I conducted this study with the goal of evaluating seasonal …

Omnipotence And Modesty: The Still, Small Voice Of God In 1 Kings 19, Scott Cooper Jun 2026

Omnipotence And Modesty: The Still, Small Voice Of God In 1 Kings 19, Scott Cooper

Obsculta

This article examines the sovereignty of God’s self-revelation to Ezekiel in a still, small voice on Mount Horeb and considers the difficulty of reconciling competing scholarly assessments of the prophet as faithful priestly servant of YHWH or disobedient free agent. This author considers Ezekiel’s experience as a site of spiritual union with God, inspired by the exegetical work of 14th century German Dominican priest and mystic Johannes Tauler.
