A Literature Review Of The Fundamentals Of Hippotherapy, Laura Weisberg Jan 1997

A Literature Review Of The Fundamentals Of Hippotherapy, Laura Weisberg

Physical Therapy Scholarly Projects

For centuries, horses have been used to help rehabilitate people with neuromuscular disorders. However, not until recently has it been recognized as a treatment modality utilized in the practice of physical therapy. Hippotherapy is implemented by a licensed therapist who uses the multifaceted movement of the horse as a treatment modality to address a broad range of special needs in individuals with disabilities. Unfortunately, there is limited information provided on this subject.

In a review of the literature, I will discuss the history, the different theories, the treatment techniques, and the research that has been done on hippotherapy. The purpose …

Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, And Latin: Languages Of New Testament Judea, Roger T. Macfarlane Jul 1996

Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, And Latin: Languages Of New Testament Judea, Roger T. Macfarlane

BYU Studies

A trilingual inscription placed by Pontius Pilate upon the cross proclaimed "Jesus of Nazareth the King of the Jews." This titulus was able to be read by many of the Jews, John says, not only because of Golgatha's proximity to the city, but also because the text was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin. Pilate's declaration addressed the multilingual population of Jerusalem, both its residents and also its visitors, who were filling the city during the Passover. Weeks later, on the day of Pentecost, Peter and some Apostles addressed Jews, residents of Jerusalem who had gathered from every nation, and …

A Directorial Experience: Noises Off, Jennifer Lynn Forrest Apr 1996

A Directorial Experience: Noises Off, Jennifer Lynn Forrest

Theses

Over the years I have been exposed to hundreds of shows, some excellent and other's not quite as good. Few shows that I have read, seen, or been involved with seem to have the appeal to both audiences and theatre groups as that of Michael Frayn's modem farce Noises Off. There are several strong reasons for its appeal.

One of the primary reasons for the play's popularity is that it is a reaction against modem theatre's tendency toward preaching at the audience. Contemporary plays tend to teach morality; and while modern playwrights do occasionally use comedy as a vehicle …

An Analysis And Prospect Of Korean Church Growth Based On Functions Of The Church, Timothy Hyun Seo Choi

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

A review of the functions of the church and growth of Korean churches illustrates that God has blessed Korean churches. The purpose of this thesis is to understand the biblical functions of the church and the relationship between these functions and church growth. This project explains the historical background of the Korean church for church growth and makes suggestions to prepare the Korean church for the 21st century. This thesis is based on conclusions drawn from an extensive published research on church growth and is illustrated by a scientific survey given to thirty-five Korean pastors.

Uneasy Burden: What It Really Means To Learn To Think Like A Lawyer, Peter R. Teachout

Mercer Law Review

If you think you can think about a thing that is hitched to other things without thinking about the things that it is hitched to, then you have [learned to think like a lawyer].
Thomas Reed Powell
It imposes the uneasy burden and occasional joy of a complex double vision, a fluid, ambivalent response to men and events which represents, at its finest, a profoundly civilized adjustment to the cost of being human in this modern world.
Ralph Ellison

I first met Jim Elkins in the summer of 1979 when we were fellows together in a Law and Humanities program …

On Generating The Greek Noun Phrase, Cheryl A. Black, Stephen A. Marlett Jan 1996

On Generating The Greek Noun Phrase, Cheryl A. Black, Stephen A. Marlett

Work Papers of the Summer Institute of Linguistics, University of North Dakota Session

This article examines the basic noun phrase of Koine Greek and proposes an analysis which is consistent with current views on phrase structure within X-bar theory. The fact that the syntactic distribution of quantifiers, demonstratives and descriptive adjectives is different leads to the (not surprising) proposal that these are distinct word classes in Greek, as in many other languages. The distribution of articles is given serious attention and is found to support the relatively recent proposal (the DP hypothesis) that the traditional noun phrase is best analyzed as a determiner phrase which may then take an NP as its complement.

Women's and Gender Studies Program: Information and Materials

Since this newsletter is coming to you at the beginning and not the end of an academic year, and sinceyour entire Women's Studies staff is new, I would like to address you only briefly.

I am very excited about the opportunity to serve you all and am deeply honored by your confidence in me. I am not even going to try to fill Barbara DiBernard's wonderful shoes; I simply plan on keeping Women's Studies "on track" these two semesters.

Genre And Outline: The Key To The Literary Structure Of Hebrews, Harald Tomesch Jan 1996

Genre And Outline: The Key To The Literary Structure Of Hebrews, Harald Tomesch

Doctor of Theology Dissertation

The primary purpose of this dissertation is to outline the relationship of the opening periodic sentence (Figure 3.1) and its syntactical, grammatical, semantic, exegetical and hermeneutical relationship to the Sermon in Miniature found in Figures 3.2 and 3.3. With this as the primary focus the ground will have been laid for the ongoing appraisal of the sermon as a whole (Figure 3.4). The overall outline of the sermon will be examined briefly so that the reader may understand that the schematic does function in a simple fashion for the rest of the epistle. As we move through the veil of …
