Are Long-Term Hospitalized Geriatric Patients Abandoned By Their Families?, Thea Karola Froehlich
Are Long-Term Hospitalized Geriatric Patients Abandoned By Their Families?, Thea Karola Froehlich
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study is twofold: first, to find out to what extent and for what reasons contacts with relatives have been exhausted for long-term geriatric patients in public institutions, and second, whether there is a significant difference in family contacts for the State Hospital patient as compared to the County Hospital patient. Are the reasons for changes in the family contacts basically social-psychological, medical, or economic.
Such a study of family interaction requires an investigation of (a) living arrangements, family relationships, and socio-economic background prior to the hospitalization; (b) the reasons for hospitalization and the present medical diagnosis; …

The Relationship Of Selected Factors To The Personal Adjustment Of Residents Of Homes For Aged In Eastern South Dakota, Darlien G. Klug
The Relationship Of Selected Factors To The Personal Adjustment Of Residents Of Homes For Aged In Eastern South Dakota, Darlien G. Klug
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
To say that the problems of aging are universal, touching all of all culture at one time or another, appears to be something of a truism. Yet, short of birth and death, scarcely any part of the pattern of living affects all mankind to so great degree. In American society these problems are particularly acute, largely because of the predominantly urban and industrial character of our culture. In South Dakota, particularly, growing numbers of elder citizens give …
