Background: Meningiomas are the most common primary intracranial tumors in the United States, comprising nearly 41% of central nervous system tumors. While the majority are benign, atypical (World Health Organization Grade II) and malignant (Grade III) subtypes are clinically significant due to their aggressive biology, higher recurrence, and increased mortality risk. Despite their burden, national mortality trends and demographic disparities in meningioma-related deaths remain underexplored.
Methods: We conducted a population-based analysis of meningioma-related mortality among U.S. adults aged ≥65 years from 1999 to 2023 using the centers for disease control and prevention (CDC) wide-ranging online data for epidemiologic research (WONDER) …

Social media has become an integral part of the lives of teenagers and children, particularly in developing countries. Though it opens avenues for communication and expression, it also plays a serious role in mental health. This paper conducts a systematic literature review (SLR) of published studies from 2015 to 2025, utilizing the databases of PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, to assess the impact of social networking sites on the mental health of children’s populations in low- and middle-income countries. The review identifies three concern areas: cyberbullying, increased anxiety and depression rates, and socioeconomic factors’ effects. Literature suggests that adolescents …

The Impact Of Voluntary Tipping Vs. Mandatory Service Charges, Ainsley Gauthier
Undergraduate Honors Theses
This study examines the impact of voluntary tipping compared to mandatory service charges on consumer satisfaction. An analysis was conducted which contained data from restaurants based in the coastal region of southern California. The dataset utilizes a citizen-curated list compiled of restaurants that impose mandatory service charges alongside a list of restaurants. This second list is compiled of restaurants that offer comparable cuisine and pricing but contrasting tipping practices. Restaurants that impose mandatory service charges of 15% or 20% were compared to restaurants that use traditional voluntary tipping. This study uses Yelp star reviews to measure consumer satisfaction. The study …

IMPORTANCE: During early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, presentations for acute myocardial infarction (AMI) declined significantly, and outcomes worsened. However, the full extent and long-term sequelae of changes in AMI epidemiology during the pandemic remain uncertain, as does whether these patterns differed by rurality.
OBJECTIVE: To describe the epidemiology of AMI-related hospitalizations, interventions, and outcomes among Medicare beneficiaries throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on differences in urban and rural populations.
DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: This retrospective cohort study included all Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries with AMI between January 1, 2018, and December 31, 2023, in the analysis. Data were analyzed from …

Public procurement constitutes a significant portion of national expenditure and directly affects economic growth, service delivery, and governance quality. In Indonesia, education sector procurement absorbs more than half of the allocated budget but remains vulnerable to inefficiencies, rigid procedures, and corruption risks. This study aims to conceptualize an adaptive framework for Public Procurement Business Process Management (PP-BPM) that addresses environmental uncertainty, digital transformation, and governance challenges. This conceptual study integrates Deferred Action Theory (DAT), Emergent Business Processes (EBP), and Business Process Management (BPM) to develop a multi-level framework for procurement. The analysis covers strategic, managerial, and operational dimensions, emphasizing deferment …

GIS/ValuationTechnologies Conference 2026
Optimal segmentation of your market is critical to maximizing model performance. Most models / modelers use geographic segmentation by default, but that may not be the best way to define your submarkets. Using real-world examples, this session examines the strengths and weaknesses of different market segmentation strategies, giving you more options from which to choose.

The Secret Sauce: How Philadelphia’S 600 Nested Geographic Market Areas Blend Human Judgment And Augmented Intelligence, Bindi Shakya Cpe, Msc, Jimmy Williams, Alex Raju
GIS/ValuationTechnologies Conference 2026
As we all know, in our industry, it’s all about location, location and location. Philadelphia’s Geographic Market Areas (GMAs) exemplify what we call Augmented Intelligence—the fusion of human expertise and analytical systems to map how real markets behave. Rather than relying on automated clustering or static neighborhood definitions, Philadelphia’s GMAs are built through iterative collaboration between the Mass Appraisal (Modeling) team, Property Evaluators, GIS dept, and management, supported by regression feedback, data analysis, and geo-visual dashboards. Emerging from the informed judgment of evaluators, supervisors, and administrators, these market areas formalize decades of local expertise into a structured, data-driven geography—bridging human …

Connectivity And Tourism Flow In Small Island Developing States, Edmir Luciano Dos Santos Ferreira, João Paulo Madeira
Connectivity And Tourism Flow In Small Island Developing States, Edmir Luciano Dos Santos Ferreira, João Paulo Madeira
International Journal of Islands Research
Tourism in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) faces unique sustainability challenges, with connectivity emerging as a critical factor. These nations, often situated in remote locations, encounter significant accessibility constraints and limited infrastructure, which restrict tourist flows and adversely affect economic development. The primary aim of this paper is to analyse the relationship between connectivity and tourism flows in SIDS, exploring how connectivity, proxied by geographical and cultural-political distance, influences tourism in these regions. Furthermore, the study seeks to determine whether belonging to different SIDS regions or exhibiting varying levels of development helps destinations attract greater tourist flows, by examining several …

Making Space To Learn: Prison-Less Places, Nicole Patrie
Making Space To Learn: Prison-Less Places, Nicole Patrie
Journal of Prison Education Research
Diversifying modalities or modes of program delivery inside prisons is necessary and important to increase access to programs; however, this also demands that learning is intended to occur in most places of a prison. In this paper I present the concept prison-less places, relational, temporary places where the prison is less noticeable and where learning becomes possible. Exploring three dimensions of learning, I argue that the existence of prison-less places brings balance to these dimensions and is crucial for learning to occur inside prisons. As the boundaries between program and prison space become more fluid and permeable with modalities …
Infinite Justice: A Critique Of Capitalism & Capital Punishment, Anthony P. Farley
Infinite Justice: A Critique Of Capitalism & Capital Punishment, Anthony P. Farley
UC Law Journal of Race and Economic Justice
Capitalism began in murder. Bodies were marked by slavery, colonialism, and genocide, white to have, and black to have not. Capitalism, “covered in dirt and dripping with blood,” was born of these three “primitive accumulations.” Slavery is death, and just like colonialism and genocide, it is a capital sentence. The law of capital punishment continues this legacy of murder and racism, as if on “rails to infinity.” This article uses insights from the critique of political economy to examine the death penalty, and the role of law generally, in maintaining racial and other inequalities. Law’s Justice enacts an endless repetition-&-forgetting …
