Objectives: To investigate epidemiological changes in respiratory fungal infections (RFI), including fungal isolation and colonization, at one of the main centers in Medina. The incidence of RFI is rising due to an increase in the number of immunocompromised individuals, a higher prevalence of respiratory viral infections, and an aging population. Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted by extracting data of patients with fungal-positive respiratory cultures from King Fahad Hospital (KFH), Al Madinah Al Munawwarah from 2013 to 2023. Objectives: To ascertain the prevalence of depressive symptoms and identify related risk factors among adolescents. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was carried out using an online questionnaire completed by 1,413 adolescents from Central Java and Yogyakarta Provinces، Indonesia. The validated Indonesian version of the Children’s Depression Inventory (CDI) was used to evaluate depressive symptoms. Results: Symptoms of depression were identified in 28.5% of participants. Multivariate analysis revealed important risk factors, including female gender (OR 3.962, 95% CI 2.684–5.849), having mother who is a housewife (OR 4.155, 95% CI 1.424–12.126) or works in labor/farming/self-employment (OR 3.665, 95% CI 1.216–11.051), residing with a …

ABSTRACT Splanchnic artery aneurysms, particularly those involving the left gastric artery, are infrequent occurrences and often lack noticeable symptoms, but their rupture involves a significant risk of mortality. We present a case involving an unruptured left gastric artery aneurysm (LGAA) that extended into the right hemithorax. This case report outlines the categorization, clinical manifestations, and diagnostic challenges associated with such aneurysms. Our findings could offer valuable insights for clinicians and radiologists when adopting a systematic approach for the early detection and management of LGAA.

The paper explores the impact of venture capital (VC) on the innovation performance of companies listed on the ChiNext and STAR markets of China’s A-share market. By examining the effect of VC involvement on the number of patent applications and patents granted to listed companies, the study reveals the role of VC in promoting corporate innovation and its potential mechanisms. The research finds that venture capital significantly enhances firms’ innovation performance through increased R&D investment and management incentives. Additionally, the degree of marketisation, as an important external factor, significantly amplifies the positive impact of VC on corporate innovation.

Understanding social determinants of HIV late presentation with advanced disease (LPWA) beyond individual-level factors could help decrease LPWA and improve population-level HIV outcomes. This study aimed to examine county-level social determinants of health (SDOH) with HIV late presentation. We aggregated datasets for analysis by linking statewide HIV diagnosis data from the South Carolina (SC) Enhanced HIV/AIDS Reporting System and multiple social contextual datasets (e.g., the American Community Survey). Childhood sexual abuse (CSA) is linked to substance use and lower antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence. However, studies examining the mediational role of substance use between CSA and ART adherence are lacking. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the potential mediational role of substance use between CSA and ART adherence among older adults living with HIV (OALH) (n = 91). Mediation analyses assessed the direct and indirect relationships between CSA, substance use, and ART adherence.
