What Covid-19 Taught Extension: Experiences Of Extension County Engagement Specialists Promoting Vaccinations In Meat Processing Plants In Rural Missouri., Wilson Majee, Ifeolu David, Lynelle Phillips, Rachel Buenemann, Kassandra Maturino

Journal of Extension

Extension played a significant role, in collaboration with other key community organizations, by disseminating information that debunked COVID-19 myths, and promoting vaccinations at the community level. In this article we present insights from the experiences of Extension faculty at the University of Missouri who were engaged in promoting COVID-19 vaccinations for meat processing plant workers. Findings from this quality improvement project highlight opportunities for leveraging Extension field faculty, and challenges to consider in future public health promotion efforts.

Seeking Kairos: Creating Oases of Rest through Contemplative Practice in the Elementary Classroom

This article introduces rest and restfulness as contemplative practice in the context of elementary schooling. As a Canadian elementary teacher, I have been researching ways to introduce contemplative practices of education to support children in their well-being. Children struggle under the pressures of expectations to achieve and excel, to conform and perform, which just as well applies to their teachers. Schooling in a burnout society prioritizes achievement, productivity, and always doing something: “No time to waste” and “keep busy” are mandatory. Not incidentally, the etymological meaning of …

Mapping The Importance Of Sports Facilities For Football Clubs: A Bibiiometric Insight, Imane Terhzaz, Abderrahim Rharib

Journal of Global South Sport Studies

This study presents a comprehensive overview of existing research on the relationship between sports facilities and the professionalization of sports clubs. The role of sports facilities has been increasingly acknowledged as critical to the organizational growth and competitive advantage of sports clubs. However, uncertainty remains regarding the effectiveness of investments in facilities and their impact on club development. Using the R-tool namely Bibliometrix, which offers a structured workflow for conducting bibliometric analysis, we analyzed a dataset of 535 articles published between 1988 and 2024 and indexed in the Web of Science database. The findings reveal a stabilization in research output …

Adapting And Addressing Pedagogy To The Needs Of The Day: George Floyd And American Literature And American Civilization To 1877, Alexis C. Jones, Don Bouchard Nov 2025

Adapting And Addressing Pedagogy To The Needs Of The Day: George Floyd And American Literature And American Civilization To 1877, Alexis C. Jones, Don Bouchard

Essays in Education

This article explores a unique educational response to the racial and social tensions ignited by George Floyd’s death and the subsequent protests and civil unrest in 2020. Two professors at a small private college near Minneapolis/St. Paul collaboratively redesigned their American Literature to 1870 and American Civilization to 1877 courses, aiming to foster a space for civil discourse, critical inquiry, and social awareness among students. Employing Paulo Freire's concept of “conscientização” and Parker Palmer's vision of a community-centered classroom, the professors created a curriculum focused on primary sources and research-based journaling, which allowed students to critically examine America’s history of …

Navigating Intersections: How Stereotypes And Oppression Shape Black Women Student-Athletes’ College Journeys, Tomika Ferguson, Cherese Fine Nov 2025

Navigating Intersections: How Stereotypes And Oppression Shape Black Women Student-Athletes’ College Journeys, Tomika Ferguson, Cherese Fine

Journal of Athlete Development and Experience

Black women college athletes navigate intersections of race, gender, and athletic ability within predominantly White institutions (PWIs). They can face stereotype threat, racialized academic expectations, and pressures to conform to dominant institution norms. This qualitative study explores the college experiences of Black women college athletes at a predominantly White institution (PWI), focusing on how intersecting oppressions and stereotypes influence their academic, social, and athletic lives. Guided by Black feminist thought (BFT) and stereotype threat theory, the research addresses two questions: What are the college experiences of BWCAs, and how do stereotypes affect these experiences? Findings reveal that pre-college experiences in …

Recognition Of Bangla And English Words In Bengali Texts Using A Modified Bert-Base-Ner Model, Md Parvez Hossain, Ohidujjaman Ohidujjaman, Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Mohammad Nurul Huda, Tetsuya Shimamura Nov 2025

Recognition Of Bangla And English Words In Bengali Texts Using A Modified Bert-Base-Ner Model, Md Parvez Hossain, Ohidujjaman Ohidujjaman, Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Mohammad Nurul Huda, Tetsuya Shimamura

Iraqi Journal for Computer Science and Mathematics

A fusion of Bangla and English words is frequently utilized, especially on social media. This phenomenon significantly hampers the learning and preservation of the Bengali language among future generations. This paper proposes a model to recognize Bangla and English words in Bengali texts. In addition, this study converts the detected English words into standard Bangla words. In this work, we redesign the BERT-base-NER model using the training input dataset. BERT is chosen for its strong contextual representation capabilities, which are well-suited to noisy and informal text. BERT-base-NER provides strong contextual embeddings but treats token labels independently, lacking explicit modeling of …

Interpersonal Violence Within Same-Sex Relationships: Survivors’ Perspectives Of Counselor Competency, Cheryl Ann D' La Rotta Nov 2025

Interpersonal Violence Within Same-Sex Relationships: Survivors’ Perspectives Of Counselor Competency, Cheryl Ann D' La Rotta

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Survivors of same-sex intimate partner violence (IPV) face negative mental health consequences. A lack of research exists on how social support, emotional and coping regulation, and counselors’ behaviors, knowledge, and skills affect the help-seeking behaviors and therapeutic outcomes of survivors of same-sex IPV. Addressing the gap is important because recent studies report an increase in same-sex IPV but low levels of help-seeking behaviors in response. If unaddressed, IPV can affect the well-being and safety of those partnered individuals. The purpose of this qualitative hermeneutic phenomenological study was to explore the experiences of same-sex IPV survivors who received therapeutic counseling. The …
