Characterization Of Tomographic Piv System For Single-Phase Immersion Cooling Applications, Joel Joshua Oommen Jan 2026

Characterization Of Tomographic Piv System For Single-Phase Immersion Cooling Applications, Joel Joshua Oommen

Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Theses

As the rapid expansion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) infrastructure and High-Performance Computing (HPC) pushes power requirements to new heights, traditional air-cooling methods have become inadequate for modern server demands. Consequently, single-phase immersion cooling (SPIC) has emerged as one of the effective and sustainable alternatives, utilizing dielectric fluids to remove heat through direct contact with electronic components. Despite numerous thermal and reliability studies, the complex three-dimensional movement of buoyant thermal plumes around intricate component shapes are not yet fully understood in confined spaces.

This thesis provides a detailed characterization of Tomo-PIV and a component level experimental study of flow patterns in …

Scaling Llm Inference: From Novel Attention Mechanisms To Efficient Kv Cache Management, Weishu Deng Jan 2026

Scaling Llm Inference: From Novel Attention Mechanisms To Efficient Kv Cache Management, Weishu Deng

Computer Science and Engineering Dissertations

The rapid scaling of artificial intelligence workloads has shifted the dominant performance bottleneck of modern computing systems from compute to memory. Graph neural networks (GNNs) issue increasingly irregular memory accesses, while large language models (LLMs) issue increasingly large ones; in both cases, the relative scaling of memory bandwidth and capacity continues to lag behind the scaling of compute. Consequently, naively executing these workloads on commodity GPUs results in stalled streaming multiprocessors, exhausted high-bandwidth memory (HBM), and serving stacks that incur PCIe transfers on the critical path. This dissertation argues that the efficient scaling of attention-based AI workloads requires the joint …

Cmai achieves an average AUROC of 0.907 across 17 antigens and 5 independent cohorts, and demonstrates clinical utility in predicting immune checkpoint inhibitor …

The Irrationality Of Punishing Homelessness, Nice, Julie A. Jan 2026

The Irrationality Of Punishing Homelessness, Nice, Julie A.

Santa Clara Law Review

The Supreme Court upheld the criminalization of public survival by unhoused people in City of Grants Pass v. Johnson in June 2024. This article examines that decision and considers why Grants Pass had not enforced its camping ban against unhoused people when the author visited the city one year later. One important reason is that Oregon had enacted legislation requiring that any camping bans in the state be objectively reasonable considering the totality of circumstances, including the impact on unhoused persons. Given the ongoing lack of shelter in Grants Pass after the Supreme Court’s ruling, the city’s unhoused residents obtained …

Not Dating, Just Doing The Dishes: Reducing Anxiety And Increasing Participation Through Low-Risk Interpersonal Role-Plays., Alison Leah Morris-Neuberger

2026 Scholarly Teaching Conference: Poster Session Papers

Soon after last semester began, I found myself in a classroom where students seemed disengaged and often unwilling to participate in open class discussion. I decided to ask students for feedback on how I could do better. What I heard was something I had not fully considered before. Many students, primarily Gen Z, asked that I use more examples centered on roommates. Several shared that they did not have experience with romantic relationships or professional work environments, but there was one common thread among them - they all had roommates. Talking about a roommate felt much lower stakes than talking …

Revolution Or Restoration? Historiographical Perspectives On The Glorious Revolution And The Evolution Of English Constitutionalism, Utku Özgür Jan 2026

Revolution Or Restoration? Historiographical Perspectives On The Glorious Revolution And The Evolution Of English Constitutionalism, Utku Özgür

2026 Claremont Colleges Library Undergraduate Research Award

This paper examines how historians have interpreted the Glorious Revolution of 1688-89 and asks whether it should be understood as a true modern revolution or as a conservative restoration. Rather than offering a narrative account of events, it traces three major historiographical frameworks through which scholars have analyzed the Revolution: legal, fiscal, and political. The legal interpretation shows how concepts such as abdication, social contract, trust, and consent allowed Parliament to frame the removal of James II as a constitutional act rather than an act of rebellion. The fiscal interpretation emphasizes the post-1688 transformation of public credit, parliamentary control over …

Jurisdiction And Citizenship, Ilan Wurman Jan 2026

Jurisdiction And Citizenship, Ilan Wurman

Articles

This Article makes a series of interventions into the existing literature on birthright citizenship. It makes three historical claims about the common law rule and its development. First, the Article centers the importance of parental status. The relevant status was not the citizenship of the parents, however, but whether they were under the protection of, and owed allegiance to, the sovereign. The common law rule therefore did not depend on descent, but the modern belief that the rule depended solely on place of birth is also mistaken. Second, it reveals through an examination of safe-conducts and English statutes from the …

Chaotic Complexity: Order And Chaos In Works Of Cage, Xenakis And Boulez, Levi Graham

Music Theses

My thesis explores specific applications of chaos theory in contemporary twentieth-century music and analyzes the relationship between order and chaos in their creation. I will do this by referencing the levels of chaos presented by Katherine Hayles and categorized by Judith Lochhead. These levels of chaos include “Expressive Chaos,” “Denotative Chaos,” and “Ontological Chaos,” which provide a framework for grouping expressions of chaos in music.  I will analyze works of John Cage, Iannis Xenakis and Pierre Boulez through the lens of these types of chaos, with a particular focus on “Ontological Chaos,” which describes chaos as both dependent on and …

Equitable Siting Of Green Stormwater Infrastructure In Urban Areas For Flood Resilience In Vulnerable Communities, Elnaz Chitsazzadeh

Planning Dissertations

Cities face increasing pressure from rapid urbanization, aging gray infrastructure, intensifying rainfall, and uneven flood protection. In this context, green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) and other nature-based solutions are increasingly promoted as tools for climate adaptation, flood resilience, and environmental justice. Yet a central planning challenge remains: how to identify where GSI should be prioritized when flood-related physical burden, weak environmental protection, social vulnerability, and lower recovery capacity overlap. This dissertation addresses that challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, by examining how equitable GSI siting can support flood resilience in vulnerable urban neighborhoods.

Framed by urban resilience and environmental justice, the study …
