Hybridity And Identity In Contemporary Artistic And Literary Creation In Morocco, Ikram Alami, Abdellah Kaaouas Feb 2026

Hybridity And Identity In Contemporary Artistic And Literary Creation In Morocco, Ikram Alami, Abdellah Kaaouas

Faits de Langue et Société (FLS)

Since the late 1980s, artistic and literary creation in Morocco has been defined by an aesthetic and formal hybridity, operating through a fusion of traditional heritage and the imperatives of modernity. This "metis" production, marked by multiculturalism and the use of new technologies, deconstructs academic canons to generate multidisciplinary works (visual arts, literature, digital media). In literature, this heterogeneity manifests as the fragmentation of genres, the interpenetration of orality and literacy, and a heterolinguism (code-switching between French, Arabic, and English) that reflects a multipolar identity. Faced with the pressures of globalization, this dynamic of cross-breeding (métissage) is not a mere …

Objectives: To investigate the incidence and risk factors for Acute kidney injury (AKI) following cardiac surgery in children with congenital heart diseases, and to identify modifiable factors that remain insufficiently studied. Acute kidney injury is common after cardiac surgery for children with congenital heart disease (CHD). Children with AKI are known to have complicated hospital courses, including their need for kidney replacement therapy, and have increased mortality.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of children admitted to the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (PCICU) at King Abdulaziz University Hospital over 7 years (2014–2021), using the Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcome …

Artificial Intelligence In Radiology: Hidden Fragilities And The Path To Resilience, Mustafa S. Alhasan Feb 2026

Artificial Intelligence In Radiology: Hidden Fragilities And The Path To Resilience, Mustafa S. Alhasan

Saudi Medical Journal

Radiology artificial intelligence (AI) is advancing however its adoption faces fragile foundations that threaten sustainability. Despite bold promises of efficiency and accuracy, current deployment is undermined by weaknesses in economics, evidence, infrastructure, human factors, regulation, security, and environmental impact. Nearly 90% of radiology AI studies report process metrics rather than patient outcomes, while hidden costs elevate ownership to 400% to 500% of subscription fees. Technical fragilities include 25% or greater performance loss with routine protocol or scanner shifts, compounded by vendor consolidation that has eliminated 63% of companies since 2020, creating migration costs averaging 180,000 dollars per exit. Human factor …

In The Belly Of The Beast:The Struggle For Abortion Rights And Reproductive Freedom In El Salvador, Cho, Karen Hyunbee

Santa Clara Journal of International Law

El Salvador maintains one of the most restrictive abortion regimes globally. Abortion is prohibited in all circumstances, and women who undergo the procedure may face prosecution for aggravated homicide, punishable by sentences of up to fifty years’ imprisonment. Healthcare professionals who assist with such procedures can likewise face criminal liability, with penalties of up to twelve years of imprisonment. This article concerns the case of a woman named Beatriz (surname unlisted) in El Salvador who sought an abortion in 2013 when she was medically diagnosed with a high-risk condition and an anencephalic fetus during her pregnancy. She was denied her …

The Structure, Pathogenesis, And Inhibition Of The P53-Mdm2 Pathway, Amanda L. Brown, Xiaoying Lian, Qian Wang Feb 2026

The Structure, Pathogenesis, And Inhibition Of The P53-Mdm2 Pathway, Amanda L. Brown, Xiaoying Lian, Qian Wang

Faculty Publications

The p53 tumor suppressor protein plays a central role in maintaining genomic stability by regulating cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, and DNA repair under cellular stress. Mouse double minute 2 (MDM2), an E3 ubiquitin ligase, negatively regulates p53 via direct binding and proteasomal degradation. Overexpression or amplification of MDM2 can disrupt this pathway and promote tumorigenesis, even in cancers with wild-type p53. This review outlines the structural features of MDM2, particularly its N-terminal hydrophobic pocket and C-terminal RING domain, and their roles in p53 regulation. We further examine the pathological effects of MDM2 dysregulation and SNPs linked to increased cancer risk. …

Money And Desperation: Petruchio’S Love Language In The Taming Of The Shrew, Hannah Steck Feb 2026

Money And Desperation: Petruchio’S Love Language In The Taming Of The Shrew, Hannah Steck

Titan Humanitas

In The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare, a young man, Petruchio, aims to tame the unmarriable Katherina. This desire to tame the “shrew” leads to physical fights, arguments, and struggles throughout the play, not only for Katherina but for Petruchio as well. Petruchio is established early on as a character who must find his own way in the world after the death of his father, therefore, perhaps his need to tame Katherina is guided by a desire besides love. Using literary analysis and close reading of the play, this paper argues that Petruchio’s motivation to tame Katherina is …

Artificial Intelligence In Medical Ethics Education: A Descriptive Study Of Eight Models In Multiple Choice Question Generation, John Obeid, Christopher Bobier, Alex Gillham, Adam Omelianchuk, Daniel Hurst

Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy Staff Publications

Introduction: Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into medical education poses barriers and opportunities for medical educators. One of those opportunities is content creation for medical ethics assessment. Assessing the performance of AI in generating multiple choice questions (MCQs) in ethics that aligns with United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) is important. The present study evaluates the performance of eight AI models-GPT-4 Turbo, GPT-3.5 Turbo 0125, o1 Mini, o1 Preview, GPT-4, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, Claude 3 Opus, and Gemini-in regard to the relevance, clarity, and accuracy of generated ethics-based MCQs.

Methods: Each of the eight models was tasked with generating two sets …

Ai Integration In English Language Teaching: Exploring Efl Teachers’ Perceptions And Challenges In Saudi Universities, Waheeb Shadid Al-Biladi

UB Journal for Humanities

In response to the growing integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in English language education, this study explores how EFL educators in Saudi universities perceive and respond to the challenges associated with incorporating AI into their teaching practices. A quantitative study including 158 male and female EFL faculty members at Saudi institutions was executed using a standardized questionnaire to evaluate perceived barriers connected to AI and corresponding coping methods. Descriptive statistics and inferential tests were used to examine differences based on gender, teaching experience, and educational qualification. The findings indicate that educators somewhat recognize hurdles, including technological difficulties, inadequate training, and …
