Connecticut Residents Say Ice Making Country Less Safe, Illegal Immigration More National Problem Than Local 2/25/2026, Unh Survey Center Feb 2026

Connecticut Residents Say Ice Making Country Less Safe, Illegal Immigration More National Problem Than Local 2/25/2026, Unh Survey Center

All UNH Survey Center Polls

A majority of Connecticut residents say Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during President Trump's administration have made the country less safe and support the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. State residents favor several reforms of ICE but are split on calls to disband the agency entirely. Most Connecticut residents believe illegal immigration is a very or somewhat serious problem in the country, but far fewer believe it is a problem in Connecticut or in their local town or city. Trump receives low marks from Connecticut residents on his handling of immigration and his overall job performance, though his …

Purpose: Intra-articular hip injection is a common procedure in the United States for a number of hip pathologies. While these injections are often performed under fluoroscopic guidance, ultrasound-guided injections and anatomic landmark injections are popular choices for physicians as well. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to compare the accuracy of intra-articular hip injections between ultrasound-guided and anatomic landmark injections.

Methods: A search was conducted across MEDLINE/PubMed, Cochrane, and Embase databases to evaluate the accuracy of intra-articular hip injection techniques. The search used a combination of keywords and Medical Subject Heading (MeSH) terms. Titles and abstracts were screened for …

Social Roles And Emotional Distress Are Associated With Successful Aging In Adult Childhood Cancer Survivors, Samah Hayek, Kimberly A Miller, Michael E Roth, Michelle A T Hildebrandt, David R Freyer, Joel Milam

Faculty, Staff and Student Publications

Childhood cancer survivors (CCS) face complex long-term health consequences resulting from intensive treatments that may impact their aging trajectory. This study assessed the associations between social role attainment, emotional distress, and indicators of successful aging (SA) among adult CCS, considering treatment intensity. SA, is a multidimensional concept encompassing physical, cognitive, and psychosocial well-being, provides a framework for understanding and optimizing outcomes in this population. This cross-sectional study utilized data from Project Forward, a cohort, of 1,248 adult CCS diagnosed between 1996 and 2010. Participants were identified through the Los Angeles County Cancer Surveillance Program and completed a comprehensive self-report survey …

Background: Risk factors for severe respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) illness include early infancy, premature birth, and underlying medical conditions. However, the clinical significance of respiratory viral co-detection is unclear. We compared the clinical outcomes of young children with RSV-only detection and those with RSV viral co-detection.

Methods: We conducted active, population-based surveillance of children with medically attended fever or respiratory symptoms at 7 US medical centers (1 December 2016-31 March 2020). Demographic and clinical data were collected through parental interviews and chart abstractions. Nasal swabs, with or without throat swabs, were systematically tested for RSV and 6 other common respiratory …

An Alternative Sacrifice: Religious Arbitration Agreements In Ministerial Employment Contracts, Grace E. Brandt Feb 2026

An Alternative Sacrifice: Religious Arbitration Agreements In Ministerial Employment Contracts, Grace E. Brandt

Pepperdine Dispute Resolution Law Journal

After decades of development in lower courts, the Supreme Court unanimously affirmed the ministerial exception in Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and School v. E.E.O.C. (2012) and provided additional guidance in Our Lady of Guadalupe School v. Morrissey-Berru (2020). The precise contours of the exception remain uncertain, but the doctrine—grounded in the Free Exercise and Establishment Clauses of the First Amendment—effectively bars civil courts from reviewing claims against religious institutions that implicate ministerial employment decisions. Thus, ministers are unable to pursue redress for legitimate harms that occur within the scope of their religious employment, even if unrelated to religious doctrine. This …

Review Of Scattered And Fugitive Things: How Black Collectors Created Archives And Remade History, Kai H. Uchida

Journal of Contemporary Archival Studies

In Scattered and Fugitive Things: How Black Collectors Created Archives and Remade History, historian and archivist Laura E. Helton tells the story of six individuals – Arturo Schomburg, Alexander Gumby, Virginia Lee, Dorothy Porter, Vivian Harsh, and Lawrence Reddick – whose practices of radical collecting revalued and recast the importance of Black history. Helton combines innovative methodological readings of previously undervalued archival sources with a keen understanding of archival practice to illuminate Black archives as a site of radical collecting, intellectual inquiry, and community empowerment. Compellingly written with insights about the theory of their curation and the story of …

Even In That Silence: Ignatian Retreats In The Transformation Of Teacher Spiritual Identity, Nancy Lourdes U. Toledo Feb 2026

Even In That Silence: Ignatian Retreats In The Transformation Of Teacher Spiritual Identity, Nancy Lourdes U. Toledo

eJournal of Catholic Education in Australasia

A teacher continues to navigate and develop one’s personal and professional identity as one interacts with one’s students, peers, mentors, and school. Schools with religious affiliation add another layer of complexity to this interaction as their education paradigm focuses not just on a teacher’s professional identity but one’s spiritual identity as well. Through an in-depth interview of four in-service teachers in a Jesuit school in the Philippines, this study aimed to discover how Ignatian retreats can effect transformation in teacher spiritual identity. The study employed the phenomenological analysis in educational qualitative research. The data were analysed using Castleberry and Nolan’s …

The Impact Of Simulation-Based Education On Novice Nurses’ Knowledge Of Pressure Injury Prevention, Michelle "Mikki" Cantu Feb 2026

The Impact Of Simulation-Based Education On Novice Nurses’ Knowledge Of Pressure Injury Prevention, Michelle "Mikki" Cantu

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

Hospital-acquired pressure injuries remain a significant patient safety concern in acute care settings despite the availability of evidence-based prevention guidelines. Novice nurses, who often have limited clinical experience and exposure to wound care education, may be less prepared to consistently identify risk factors, accurately stage pressure injuries, and implement appropriate preventive strategies. Simulation-based education offers an experiential learning approach that supports the translation of evidence-based knowledge into clinical practice. The purpose of this Doctor of Nursing Practice quality improvement project was to evaluate the effectiveness of simulation-based education in improving novice nurses’ knowledge of pressure injury identification and prevention. The …

Child Development Accounts Reduce Adolescent Behavior Problems, Jin Huang, Yingying Zeng, Michael Sherraden Feb 2026

Child Development Accounts Reduce Adolescent Behavior Problems, Jin Huang, Yingying Zeng, Michael Sherraden

Center for Social Development Research

Adolescence can be a challenging time, and a body of research has investigated options for addressing adolescent behavior problems. This brief presents findings from a new line of inquiry. The analyses presented here draw upon data from the SEED for Oklahoma Kids experiment, a test of a statewide Child Development Account (CDA) policy in Oklahoma. The findings indicate that CDAs positively shape the frequency of adolescent behavior problems.
