This study was aimed to improve the students’ ability in writing recount text through mind mapping strategy. The subjects of the study was the 20 second graders of SMPN 2 Lumbang Probo linggo. This was a classroom action research conducted in one cycle that consisted of five meetings. The mind mapping strategy was done through process writing, in the first three stages, pre-writing, drafting, and revising. This study aims to develop reading materials for the Sport Science Sophomores of Universitas Negeri Malang due to the unavailability of the materials. The design of her research is R and D (Research and Development) simplified from Borg and Gall design (1983). The result of preliminary study showed that the available materials were not in line with the syllabus since it still reflects the teaching of General English, while the syllabus emphasizes teaching English texts related to Sport Science. The final products of this research are ‘Student’s Book and Teacher’s manual’.

Influence Of Co-Curricular Activities On Senior Secondary School Students’ Academic Achievement In English Language In Nigeria

This paper investigates the influence of co-curricular activities on Senior Secondary School Students’ achievement in Nigeria. The variables to be considered are Press club and Literary and debating society, the involvement period, and their academic achievement. Eight out of 17 secondary schools are randomly selected with one hundred students from each school. The questionnaires for the data collection are on students’ personal data and twelve questions on press club and literary and debating society. The mock examination results show that there is a positive significant influence in co-curricular activities on senior secondary school students’ academic achievement in English.

This paper reports a study which investigated the effect of scaffolding techniques on stu dents’ writing achievement. This study is quasi-experimental research with nonrandomized control group design. The total number of participants was 36 students who were in two different groups: ex perimental group and control group. There were twenty students in the experimental group and six teen students in the control group. The paper reports a study which aims at exploring the effectiveness of digital photographs in helping students to achieve higher writing performance. This research uses quasi experimental de sign. The participants were two groups of Arabic Literature department of Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University, Malang which were drawn using random sampling technique. The findings indicate that the posttest result of experimental and control groups are significantly different. The findings suggest that the implementation of digital photographs in the teaching of writing helps the students gain higher scores than the students who are taught using story starters.

This present study is aimed at examining whether there is a significant difference in the vocabulary mastery of students who are taught using semantically related words and those who are taught using unrelated words. Quasi Experimental Research is used with Posttest Only Design involving 54 students from two classes. A vocabulary test is constructed as a main instrument. Correlation Between Lexical Richness And Overall Quality Of Argumentative Essays Written By English Department Students, Rizky Lutviana, A. Effendi Kadarisman, Ekaning Dewanti Laksmi

This study aims at revealing the contribution of diction to the overall quality of argumentative essays written by 42 EFL students. The researcher compared two sets of scores, the score of students’ lexical richness, measured with LFP (Lexical Frequency Profile), and the score of overall quality of EFL students’ argumentative essay, using analytical scoring rubric. The small and not significant correlation (ñ=.18, sig=.23) implied that diction had small contribution to the overall quality of the essay. There might be another factor related to the diction that supports the quality of written text. Thus, further research is needed to be conducted.

The aim of this research is to describe and examine the effect of instructional group work method utilizing video media and achievement motivation towards students’ study results in writing English descriptive paragraph. This research is a quasi-experimental with factorial version 2x2 of pretest and posttest nonequivalent control group design, implemented into five different paralel classes, A,B,C,D, and E class. Data of study results collected through pretest and posttest are analized by using SPSS 17. This study aims to examine the rhetorical moves and explore the use of verb tense in research article abstracts This study employs corpus based approach using a corpus toolkit AntConc 3.2.4w. The subjects of this study are 29 research articles. The findings reveal that the preferred rhetorical moves of the abstracts are Move 2-purpose, Move 3-method, and Move 4-result. The use of present tense is dominant in all five moves. Additionally, past tense is mostly found in method move. This research examined the effectiveness of conflict resolution counseling to solve student’s interpersonal conflict in senior high school. The experimental study used randomized controlled trials design with triple blinding include: client as participants, counselors, and pretest-postestt administrator. This study aims at investigating the ways the English teachers develop the test prompts of and the ways they administer the English US of speaking and writing skills. The study employed quantitative and qualitative approaches involving 73 SMAs in Bandung. The findings indicate that administrative aspects were successfully administered; however, technical aspects were not appropriately administered because most teachers did not involve experts and students in validation and try-out processes.

Chronic low back pain (CLBP) is a leading cause of disability worldwide, with increasing evidence implicating neuromuscular factors such as muscle asymmetry in its pathophysiology. The psoas major muscle (PMM), a key contributor to lumbar spine stability, has been comparatively under-investigated despite its biomechanical importance.
