Current methods for classifying IoT malware predominantly utilize binary and family classifications. However, these outcomes lack the detailed granularity to describe malicious behavior comprehensively. This limitation poses challenges for security analysts, failing to support further analysis and timely preventive actions. To achieve fine-grained malicious behavior identification in the lurking stage of IoT malware, we propose MaGraMal. This approach, leveraging masked graph representation, supplements traditional classification methodology, empowering analysts with critical insights for rapid responses. Through the empirical study, which took three person-months, we identify and summarize four fine-grained malicious behaviors during the lurking stage, constructing an annotated dataset. Our evaluation …

Chain-of-Thought (CoT) [2, 3] guides large language models (LLMs) to reason step-by-step, and can motivate their logical reasoning ability. While effective for logical tasks, CoT is not conducive to creative problem-solving which often requires out-of-box thoughts and is crucial for innovation advancements. In this paper, we explore the Leap-of-Thought (LoT) abilities within LLMs — a nonsequential, creative paradigm involving strong associations and knowledge leaps. To this end, we study LLMs on the popular Oogiri game which needs participants to have good creativity and strong associative thinking for responding unexpectedly and humorously to the given image, text, or both, and thus …

The incentive to revive brownfield oil production extends the interest to apply polymer gel treatments in injection wells. Virtually, volumes of previous remediations implemented in similar reservoir types are used to size new jobs. Such an analogy-based design procedure imposes a need to evaluate the most frequent designs for each reservoir type based on a comprehensive field survey. This survey provides a new treatment sizing strategy for polyacrylamide-polymer bulk gels by reviewing their field applications in 653 injection wells. The new strategy proposes using the average and most frequent gel volumes per reservoir type as an initial estimate of the …
Bound To Misfortune: Protecting Juvenile Abortion Through The Right To Travel, John H.C. Hughes
Bound To Misfortune: Protecting Juvenile Abortion Through The Right To Travel, John H.C. Hughes
Cardozo Law Review
On July 1, 2022, the Indianapolis Star reported that a ten-year-old Ohio girl, who had been raped and was six weeks pregnant, had sought an abortion in Indiana. Abortion had been outlawed in Ohio mere hours after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, but it remained legal ˙in neighboring Indiana. The Ohio girl was able to cross the state border, get the abortion, and—presumably—return home safely. But if lawmakers like those in Missouri, South Carolina, Texas, and a handful of other states have their way, pregnant© children in abortion-restrictive states will be unable to avail themselves of neighboring …

Dear Editor, this letter is concerned with prescribed-time Nash equilibrium (PTNE) seeking problem in a pursuit-evasion game (PEG) involving agents with second-order dynamics. In order to achieve the prior given and user-defined convergence time for the PEG, a PTNE seeking algorithm has been developed to facilitate collaboration among multiple pursuers for capturing the evader without the need for any global information. Then, it is theoretically proved that the prescribed-time convergence of the designed algorithm for achieving Nash equilibrium of PEG. Eventually, the effectiveness of the PTNE method was validated by numerical simulation results.
Sect And Superstition: The Protestant Framework Of American Codification, Kellen R. Funk
Sect And Superstition: The Protestant Framework Of American Codification, Kellen R. Funk
Faculty Scholarship
Elite lawyers who debated codification in the nineteenth-century United States treated codification as inseparable from a liberal Protestant textualism that had taken hold in the early national era. Legislators declared codification to be the necessary final step of the Protestant Reformation and frequently characterized common law lawyers as beholden to ‘superstition’ and ‘priestcraft’. Their opponents denounced the codifiers’ idea that texts alone could adequately convey common meanings and delighted to point out the endlessly fracturing glosses on supposedly ‘clear’ texts that divided the positivists into an ever-increasing number of sects.
Many works have addressed the relationship between populism and positivism …

Is there a saddle-point mechanism for ionization in intermediate-energy ion-atom collisions Since Olson [Phys. Rev. A 33, 4397 (1986)0556-279110.1103/PhysRevA.33.4397] proposed the idea that the electrons stranded in the potential saddle between the two Coulomb centers dominate the ejected-electron spectra, multiple experimental and theoretical attempts have been made to answer this question. However, the topic has remained controversial. Here we provide a theoretical analysis of this question which can contribute significantly to a definitive answer, at least for intermediate and large projectile energies. To this end we calculate the energy and angular distribution of electrons emitted in proton-helium collisions. We use …

Exploring The Versatility Of Clay In Double Curvature Surface Formation, Yicheng Zhang
Exploring The Versatility Of Clay In Double Curvature Surface Formation, Yicheng Zhang
Masters Theses
This thesis aims to investigate the efficacy of clay in shaping double- curved surfaces. In conventional interior design practices, Glass Reinforced Gypsum (GRG) is commonly employed to craft sculptural elements on surfaces such as ceilings and walls. However, despite its efficiency, GRG is not environmentally sustainable. As an excellent material for creating indoor curved surfaces, GRG, offers the advantages of easy construction and high efficiency. However, during the demolition process, the inclusion of glass fibers makes the recycling process very complicated. It is difficult to separate these materials for recycling, which ultimately leads to a significant amount of construction waste.

Milpa: Cultivating Community Through Grid Remediation In México, Marianna Pasaret Molinar
Masters Theses
In México, the proliferation of monotonous affordable housing developments on the outskirts of urban centers stems from a profit- driven approach that prioritizes rapid construction over livability and community well-being. These housing developments, stark rows of barren husks, reflect a system that depletes both land and human connection. Abandoned units — consequences of a patchwork (or non existent) infrastructure —now stand as silent critiques of this broken system.
Drawing inspiration from the cycical strategies of ancestral agricultural traditions, that recognize the full spectrum from barren stalk to abundance, this project proposes a cyclical model for community growth. Current housing practices, …

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM)is the most common and aggressive primary brain tumor. Although temozolomide (TMZ)-based radiochemotherapy improves overall GBM patients' survival, it also increases the frequency of false positive post-treatment magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) assessments for tumor progression. Pseudo-progression (PsP) is a treatment-related reaction with an increased contrast-enhancing lesion size at the tumor site or resection margins miming tumor recurrence on MRI. The accurate and reliable prognostication of GBM progression is urgently needed in the clinical management of GBM patients. Clinical data analysis indicates that the patients with PsP had superior overall and progression-free survival rates. In this study, we aimed …

Trouble’S Bruen: The Lower Courts Respond, Brannon P. Denning, Glenn H. Reynolds
Minnesota Law Review Vols. 106:2 onward (2021-present)
New York State Rifle & Pistol Ass'n v. Bruen revolutionized the understanding of how Second Amendment cases are to be adjudicated. Rejecting the tiered-scrutiny analysis around which the lower courts had coalesced since the 2008 Heller decision, the Court instructed courts to look to history and tradition after it was determined that state or federal regulations limited activities that fell within the protections afforded by the Second Amendment's text. Justice Thomas's opinion, however, left open significant questions about how the history-and-tradition method is to operate in practice. The Court recently held oral arguments in United States v. Rahimi, in which …

Bridge The Gap: Using Advocacy To Bridge The Gender Wage Gap In Sports - A Comparative Analysis Of Venus Williams And The Us Women’S National Team, William E. Mitchell
Student Theses and Dissertations
For decades sports and activism have been synonymous. Many remember Jesse Owens and Tommie Smith’s Olympic protests, Mohammed Ali’s anti-war protest and Collin Kaepernick kneeling to bring attention to racial injustices. More recently many joined in celebration and applauded when the US Women’s National Team secured equal pay. However, many women in sports remain invisible. Activism is a viable form of seeking change, but can the route taken by Venus Williams work in team sports? This project will seek to examine if activism is a viable change agent in sports especially in closing the gender pay gap. While several female …

Therefore, this research aimed to investigate functional textiles using thermochromic yarns for young children’s body temperature detection, particularly focusing on testing prototypes in a controlled environment …
Application Of Methods To Population-Based Surveys To Reduce Bias In Estimates Of Sars-Cov-2 Infection Burden In The Population, Saba Qasmieh
Dissertations and Theses
BACKGROUND: Population-based surveys designed to randomly sample the population can be a critical and complementary tool to traditional surveillance approaches. Probability-based surveys enable the measurement of SARS-CoV-2 testing and outcomes that avoid issues around self-selection into testing, making them an effective approach to address ascertainment bias in passive surveillance. For surveys to be a useful and reliable surveillance tool for understanding the burden and distribution of SARS-CoV-2 infection, they need to capture prevalence estimates that are both valid and reliable to be optimally informative for public health measures. The dissertation was undertaken to address three main gaps that have implications …

Using machine learning and deep learning methods to analyze text data from social media can effectively explore hidden emotional tendencies and evaluate the psychological state of social media account owners. However, the label noise caused by mislabeling may significantly influence the training and prediction results of traditional supervised models. To resolve this problem, this paper proposes a psychological evaluation method that incorporates a noisy label correction mechanism and designs an evaluation framework that consists of a primary classification model and a noisy label correction mechanism. Firstly, the social media text data are transformed into heterogeneous text graphs, and a classification …

Usability Versus Collectibility In Nft: The Case Of Web3 Domain Names, Ping Fan Ke, Yi Meng Lau
Usability Versus Collectibility In Nft: The Case Of Web3 Domain Names, Ping Fan Ke, Yi Meng Lau
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
This study examines the market’s inclination towards usability and collectibility aspects of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) within Web3 domain name marketplaces, drawing insights from resale records. Our findings reveal a prevailing preference for usability, as evidenced by consistently higher average resale prices observed for Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domains compared to Linagee Name Registrar (LNR) domains. However, domains with diminished usability, such as those containing non-ASCII characters, tend to attract investors due to their enhanced collectibility. Our analysis on the effect from previous resale suggests a potential aversion towards second-hand acquisitions among NFT investors when value derives primarily from usability, while …

Mixed initiative serves as one of the key factors in controlling conversation directions. For a speaker, responding passively or leading proactively would result in rather different responses. However, most dialogue systems focus on training a holistic response generation model without any distinction among different initiatives. It leads to the cross-contamination problem, where the model confuses different initiatives and generates inappropriate responses. Moreover, obtaining plenty of human annotations for initiative labels can be expensive. To address this issue, we propose a general mix-Initiative Dynamic Prefix Tuning framework (IDPT) to decouple different initiatives from the generation model, which learns initiative-aware prefixes in …

Drag Your Noise: Interactive Point-Based Editing Via Diffusion Semantic Propagation, Haofeng Liu, Chenshu Xu, Yifei Yang, Lihua Zeng, Shengfeng He
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Point-based interactive editing serves as an essential tool to complement the controllability of existing generative models. A concurrent work, DragDiffusion, updates the diffusion latent map in response to user inputs, causing global latent map alterations. This results in imprecise preservation of the original content and unsuccessful editing due to gradient vanishing. In contrast, we present DragNoise, offering robust and accelerated editing without retracing the latent map. The core rationale of DragNoise lies in utilizing the predicted noise output of each U-Net as a semantic editor. In this paper, we delve into a novel aspect of learning novel diffusion conditions with datasets an order of magnitude smaller. The rationale behind our approach is the elimination of textual constraints during the few-shot learning process. To that end, we implement two optimization strategies. The first, prompt-free conditional learning, utilizes a prompt-free encoder derived from a pre-trained Stable Diffusion model. This strategy is designed to adapt new conditions to the diffusion process by minimizing the textual-visual cor-relation, thereby ensuring a more precise alignment between the generated content and the specified conditions. The second strategy entails condition-specific negative rectification, which …
