Generating Geospatial Visualizations Using Generative Artificial Intelligence, Carsten Isert, Manuel Bertrand Cabral, Simon Lynen, Matthew Strosnick, Michelina Mary Galligan Pallone

Defensive Publications Series

This disclosure describes systems and methods for generating geometric details for digital maps. Some existing cartographic rendering systems may rely on interpolation from schematic data, which can result in visual inaccuracies when representing certain geographic features. The described technology can utilize generative artificial intelligence models to generate geometric primitives, such as polygons and polylines, that represent fine-grained map details. These models can be conditioned on both semantic map data and real-world geospatial data, for example, aerial or ground-level imagery. By generating vector graphics for map features and storing them in a discrete presentation layer, this approach can facilitate the creation …

Spectral Hole Burning (Shb)-Free Optical Signal-To-Noise Ratio (Osnr) Estimation Algorithm To Derive The Link Osnr In Dense Dwdm Optically Amplified Coherent Optical Links In The Presence Of Shb-Shift Induced By Optical Amplifiers, Claudio Crognale, Silvia Turolla, Sara Corti, Mattia Pasti

Defensive Publications Series

Proposed herein is a Spectral Hole Burning (SHB)-Free Optical Signal-to-Noise Ratio (OSNR) Estimation Algorithm that properly estimates the gain shift induced by the SHB on a Device Under Test (DUT) during channel removal and derives the Amplified Spontaneous Emission (ASE) noise level within the signal bandwidth.  Experimental comparisons with the conventional procedures have shown how the algorithm provides the ability to properly derive the OSNR in a dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) coherent optical link without any further narrow-spectrum probe to perform the measurement. Experimental results have revealed that the proposed algorithm is able to “clean” the result of the …

Self-Calibrating Product Adoption Measurement System, Chady Saad, David Wolder, Bruce Mcmurdo, Ravi Garg, Tim Barnes May 2026

Self-Calibrating Product Adoption Measurement System, Chady Saad, David Wolder, Bruce Mcmurdo, Ravi Garg, Tim Barnes

Defensive Publications Series

Proposed herein is a self-calibrating system for measuring product adoption that continuously adapts how adoption is interpreted as customer behavior, peer usage patterns, and product capabilities evolve. Rather than relying on static thresholds or manually defined success criteria, the system dynamically evaluates feature enablement and engagement relative to cohort behavior and customer-selected outcomes. The resulting adoption measurements provide an objective, context-aware view of true adoption progress that remains accurate as products and customer usage mature over time by dynamically recalibrating milestone thresholds and cohort baselines from live peer telemetry distributions.

Behavioral Science Applications In Collegiate Athlete Nutrition And Sleep: A Scoping Review, Maryam Yuhas, Katherine M. Kidwell, Olivia Moskuna, Rajib Mandal, Jessica L. Garay

Nutrition - All Scholarship

Nutrition and sleep are key health behaviors supporting athletic performance. Collegiate athletes in the United States (U.S.) are at high risk of insufficient dietary intake and nightly sleep given the competing demands of elite sports and academics. Researchers have developed interventions to improve collegiate athletes’ sleep and nutrition, either individually or collectively. However, progress in understanding how best to create sustained behavior change in this population has been slow. This may be due to the lack of application of behavioral science principles such as lack of a guiding theory, effective strategies, and consideration of implementation contexts. This scoping review takes …

No Cuts: How Hayao Miyazaki Highlights The United States’ Inadequacy In Protecting Foreign Authors’ Integrity, Bridget Johns May 2026

No Cuts: How Hayao Miyazaki Highlights The United States’ Inadequacy In Protecting Foreign Authors’ Integrity, Bridget Johns

UC Law SF Communications and Entertainment Journal

Although the United States joined the Berne Convention in 1989, U.S. copyright law reflects a restricted approach to moral rights protection. Unlike many Berne signatories, the U.S. largely frames copyright as an economic right rather than as a way to protect artistic integrity. Japanese law, by contrast, treats moral rights as central to creative work protections, emphasizing the importance of the work’s dignity and author’s intent. This incongruity has significant consequences in the globalized era, particularly when foreign works are distributed within the U.S. Weak statutory moral rights protections leave authors vulnerable to misattribution and distortion without meaningful recourse. This …

The Undaunted: How Young Adult Activist Literature Depicts The Fight For Social Justice, Emma Stack

Master's Theses

In this thesis, I will explore a wide range of young adult fiction novels that feature themes surrounding activism. My goal will be to use a number of novels to illustrate the importance of analyzing literature that features young people as activists within social justice movements. My main overarching question is: How are young people represented as activists in young adult literature, and how can young people use such literature as a catalyst for social change? I also plan to explore questions relating to how young people are represented as activists, why their voices are so integral when promoting social …

Re-Imagining The Rimac River: Designing With Mythology, Ecology, And Community, Rodrigo Carbajal May 2026

Re-Imagining The Rimac River: Designing With Mythology, Ecology, And Community, Rodrigo Carbajal

Bachelor of Architecture Theses - 5th Year

The Rímac River sustains Lima, yet the city has treated it more like an edge condition than a living system. Its water moves through the metropolis as a source of life, but its presence is buried behind concrete walls, traffic corridors, pollution, and fragmented access. Over time, the river has been reduced to a controlled channel, stripped of the cultural and spatial relationships that once connected it to everyday life. This thesis begins with that contradiction: the Rímac remains vital to Lima’s survival, but has been pushed out of the city’s public imagination. This project argues that the river’s current …

Synthergy: Social Deduction And Deception In Llm-Powered Agents, Lauren Campbell, Andrew Forney May 2026

Synthergy: Social Deduction And Deception In Llm-Powered Agents, Lauren Campbell, Andrew Forney

Honors Thesis

Synthergy is an online social deduction game designed to enable comparative analysis of how large language model-powered agents engage in social deduction and deception under conditions of asymmetric information. Inspired by social deduction games such as Town of Salem, Throne of Lies, and Mafia, the game consists of two factions, Harmony and Discord, to which agents are secretly assigned. Agents must infer others’ affiliations through dialogue, in-game abilities, and voting behavior. To evaluate agent behavior, we conducted 100 simulated games across six agent types: a random baseline agent (RandomSynth), an LLM-based agent (Synth), a chain-of-thought agent (CoT Synth), a Bayesian …

Adaptive Two-Derivative Runge–Kutta–Nyström Method With Trigonometric Fitting Approach, Nur Nabila Huda, Khai Chien Lee, Nurul Huda Abdul Aziz

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

A fifth-order trigonometrically-fitted explicit two-derivative Runge–Kutta–Nyström method with an adaptive step size strategy, denoted as ATFRKN5, is proposed for efficiently solving second-order ordinary differential equations of the form u″(x) = f(x, u(x)) that exhibit oscillatory behavior. The order conditions of the method are derived using Taylor series expansion, enabling the construction of two-derivative Runge–Kutta–Nyström schemes up to orders four and five. Trigonometric fitting is applied by incorporating the basis functions eiλx and e−iλx, λ ∈ ℝ, allowing the method to adapt naturally to problems with dominant frequencies. …

Optimal Control Of An Inverse Two-Point Boundary Value Problem For A Pseudoparabolic Equation With Samarskii–Ionkin-Type Boundary Conditions, Khanlar R. Mamedov, Tursun K. Yuldashev, Zholdoshbek Zh. Shermamatov May 2026

Optimal Control Of An Inverse Two-Point Boundary Value Problem For A Pseudoparabolic Equation With Samarskii–Ionkin-Type Boundary Conditions, Khanlar R. Mamedov, Tursun K. Yuldashev, Zholdoshbek Zh. Shermamatov

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

This paper investigates an inverse optimal control problem for a pseudoparabolic equation governed by nonlinear control function in a two-point boundary condition. The differential equation is considered under Samarskii Ionkin-type boundary value conditions with respect to the spatial variable x. Necessary optimality conditions are derived, and the associated nonlinear functional equations are analyzed. Using the contraction mapping principle, the existence and uniqueness of the control function are established. Subsequently, the redefinition function and the state function are determined. The convergence of their respective Fourier series representations is rigorously proven.

Comparisons Of Some Weighted Mixed Biased Estimators For The Linear Regression Model, Dünya Karapinar, Murat Polat, Ni̇met Özbay, Selahatti̇n Kaçiranlar

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

This paper presents comparative results on the two-parameter weighted mixed estimator, which is a distinct class of estimator defined to address the problem of multicollinearity. The two-parameter weighted mixed estimator is a general estimator that includes the weighted mixed estimator, the weighted mixed Liu estimator, and the weighted mixed ridge estimator. Detailed comparisons among the mentioned estimators are carried out based on the matrix mean square error. Theoretical findings are supported by two numerical examples in addition to a Monte Carlo simulation study.

Information Usage As A Performance Driver In Supply Chains: Integrating Machine Learning, Structural Modeling, And Efficiency Analysis, Asli Z. Dag May 2026

Information Usage As A Performance Driver In Supply Chains: Integrating Machine Learning, Structural Modeling, And Efficiency Analysis, Asli Z. Dag

Harrisburg University Dissertations and Theses

The present study investigates ways in which companies utilize information to improve suppliers’ performance within their supply chains. In the literature, the existing studies focus largely on information sharing between companies and suppliers, while less is known about how organizations then apply shared information during decision-making in ways that impact outcomes for suppliers. Importantly, the extant research demonstrates that information sharing can improve the visibility of issues arising along the supply chain, raise the coordination between those within the chain, and reduce uncertainty about the necessary supply and demand; however, the benefits in these areas remain limited unless the relevant …
