Development Of New Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma Mouse Models., Syed Hassan Mehdi, Ying-Zhi Xu, Leonard D. Shultz, Eunkyung Kim, Yong Gu Lee, Samantha Kendrick, Donghoon Yoon
Faculty Research 2024
Diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most diagnosed, aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma, with ~40% of patients experiencing refractory or relapsed disease. Given the low response rates to current therapy, alternative treatment strategies are necessary to improve patient outcomes. Here, we sought to develop an easily accessible new xenograft mouse model that better recapitulates the human disease for preclinical studies. We generated two Luciferase (Luc)-EGFP-expressing human DLBCL cell lines representing the different DLBCL cell-of-origin subtypes. After intravenous injection of these cells into humanized NSG mice, we monitored the tumor growth and evaluated the organ-specific engraftment/progression period. Our results showed that …

Sultan Qaboos University Medical Journal
This meta-analysis investigated efficacy of dapagliflozin as adjunctive therapy for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) stages 2–5. A systematic search was conducted of selected databases for randomised controlled trials that reported the mean change in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and urine albumin-creatinine ratio (UACR) from baseline. Out of 1,682 identified studies, 9 trials comprising 13,057 patients were included. A pooled estimate of 5 studies indicated that dapagliflozin did not affect eGFR; however, in 2 studies, it significantly reduced chronic eGFR decline compared to placebo (mean difference [MD] ± 2.74; 95% confidence interval …

Jimmy And Rosalynn Carter: A Moral Compass That Established An American Political System, Rebecca Hodnett
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The 1970s brought an economic, social, and political change in America. Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter created a new wave of traditional, moral ideologies that shaped America for generations. As a Washington outsider, the Carter team swept through Washington, bringing reforms based on honest integrity, social restructuring, and moral underpinning that challenged the established broken political system of the Nixon/Ford years. Relying on their strength with one another, they reimagined domestic and foreign policies by strengthening the office of First Lady, giving a voice to minorities, establishing various new positions, taking on Congress, and creating a hallmark of peace arrangement with …

The Implications Of A Post-Supersessionist Hermeneutic Applied To James’S Use Of Amos 9:11–12 In Acts 15:16–18, Mary Kathleen Yarbrough
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The Jerusalem Council of Acts 15 marks one of the most critical moments in the life and development of the New Testament church as James set forth a scriptural response to the debate surrounding Gentile inclusion into the kingdom of God. The importance of James’s response is encapsulated in his appellation and adaptation of Amos 9:11–12 which both brought closure to the Council’s debate and clarified the identity and mission of the New Testament community. It is of note, however, that James did not directly quote Amos 9:11–12 but instead adapted its structure so that, in agreement with that set …

An Exploration Of How Working At Marching Band Camps Can Benefit Pre-Service Instrumental Music Educators, Cody Franklin Knott
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Equipping pre-service music education students for a teaching career requires practicum experience working with mentor teachers and students. It can be challenging to acquire enough practicum experience through typical undergraduate coursework to prepare future teachers for a classroom of their own entirely. Guided by the phenomenological research approach, this study will investigate pre-service teaching opportunities available to instrumental music education students who work at summer marching band camps to gain experience teaching in the classroom. Data will be gathered from pre-service teachers’ experiences as instructors or technicians at marching band camps through an online survey. This survey will examine the …

Divine Threads: Unraveling Testimony, Character Development, And Christianity In Fantasy Narratives, Miranda Wessman
Divine Threads: Unraveling Testimony, Character Development, And Christianity In Fantasy Narratives, Miranda Wessman
Masters Theses
Characters are the backbone of fantasy fiction novels. In fact, characters are one of the core components of any novel no matter the genre. In every successful novel, you will find at least one protagonist and one antagonist. Some novelists choose to tell their stories through the use of multiple characters, all of whom have complicated stories of their own. The reason so many fantasy fiction novels are successful is not just because of the magic and worldbuilding, but the characters using the magic. Character development is intertwined with the character’s testimony which can be seen through the characters found …

Embracing Positivity: Using The Power Of Positivity To Enhance Design Classroom Critiques To Encourage Students To Feel Empowered As Artists, Angela M. Keeler Reeves
Masters Theses
While ample research and ways to handle an artistic critique exist, there is not enough that is created in conjunction with visuals to help and empower our art faculty. As a graphic design instructor at a regional university, I struggle every day to make sure that my students end not only becoming better designers, but also understanding that critique is about making them better and not meant to tear them down. My graphic design professors varied in technique when it came to the critique process and caused quite a bit of emotional distress on a young growing design student. I …

An Online Beginner Piano Course: A Fully Asynchronous And Online Curriculum For Beginner Piano Instruction, Jonathan David Holowaty
Masters Theses
The purpose of this applied curriculum is to provide piano instruction through an online and asynchronous method. Online and asynchronous methods of learning have been increasing in higher education and, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, have been used in the primary and secondary levels. This trend shows no signs of stopping. Much research has been done in online methods of learning in higher education; however, not nearly as much has been done with lower age groups. More research and experimentation is needed in the application of these methods at the primary and secondary levels. Considering this, the course conceived of …
