Human serum albumin (HSA) is the most abundant plasma protein and serves as a major transporter and reservoir for a wide range of endogenous ligands, including fatty acids, heme, bilirubin, prostaglandins, and metal ions, as well as numerous exogenous compounds, such as pharmaceuticals. HSA is a 66 kDa monomeric, multidomain protein containing two principal ligand-binding sites, Sudlow sites I and II. Sudlow site I contains Trp214, the sole tryptophan residue in HSA, whose intrinsic fluorescence provides a sensitive probe for studying ligand–protein interactions.
In this study, the interaction between HSA and the persistent organochlorine herbicide quinclorac (QNC) was investigated using …

Endeavors: Mississippi State Undergraduate Research Journal
Bovine respiratory disease (BRD) is a multifactorial disease complex that causes significant economic loss in the cattle industry. Bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV), one of the primary viruses included in BRD, primarily targets the lower respiratory tract and causes a wide variety of subclinical and clinical signs. Current diagnosis techniques require off-site laboratory testing, creating delays that allow BRSV to spread through herds and highlighting the need for rapid diagnostic methods. The objective of the study was to evaluate near-infrared spectroscopy as a diagnostic tool for BRSV detection across varying infection severities. Twenty-two Holstein bull calves were reared in research …

Cognitive Autonomy In The Age Of Ai: A First-Year University Writing Teacher’S Case For Embodied Learning, Rachel M. Terry
Cognitive Autonomy In The Age Of Ai: A First-Year University Writing Teacher’S Case For Embodied Learning, Rachel M. Terry
Essays in Education
Cognitive autonomy in the age of AI is becoming an urgent concern in higher education. This article argues that first-year writing instruction should recover cognitive autonomy and embodied learning as correctives to technocratic habits shaped by generative AI, digital convenience, and an overreliance on optimization. Drawing on the author’s positionality as a first-year university writing teacher, it examines how students increasingly treat knowledge as detachable information rather than as something formed through disciplined engagement. The article includes examples of handwritten note-taking and annotation as embodied learning that slows thought, deepens synthesis, and supports student agency. It concludes that education should …
Regulating Operational States Of An On‑Chip Power Controller, Janardan Prasad
Regulating Operational States Of An On‑Chip Power Controller, Janardan Prasad
Defensive Publications Series
System‑on‑chip architectures often employ primary power controllers to direct the operational states of various internal sub‑systems. Problems can arise during periods of sub‑system inactivity, as the primary power controller remains active to monitor the sleeping domains, resulting in continuous power consumption. The disclosed technology utilizes a secondary power controller manager to govern the clocking and power states of the primary power controller. By evaluating hardware handshakes, initiating duration counters, and deploying finite state machines, the power controller manager transitions the primary power controller into a clock‑gated or power‑gated state during extended periods of sub‑system inactivity. In this way, the disclosed …

Automated Emulation Of Life Cycle States And Configuration Fuses, Rohit Sinha, Afshin Hosseinipour, Kyle Rupnow, Janardan Prasad, Rama Thotakura
Defensive Publications Series
System-on-Chip devices often use One-Time-Programmable (OTP) fuses to maintain permanent configuration data, including manufacturing life cycle states and security provisioning. Because programming these physical fuses is an irreversible process, manufacturers frequently delay the testing of end-user features that rely on final fuse states until the concluding stages of manufacturing. Such delayed testing may result in late-stage defect discovery, additional hardware revisions, and longer debugging efforts. The disclosed hardware architecture facilitates the dynamic, non-destructive emulation of configuration fuse states. By employing a multiplexing unit and dedicated control logic, the hardware architecture selectively routes customizable configuration data from a volatile internal memory …
Code Generation System With Integration Of Objective User Feedback, Ishac Bertran
Code Generation System With Integration Of Objective User Feedback, Ishac Bertran
Defensive Publications Series
This document describes a self-improving code generation system, also known as a programming assistant, software synthesis tool, or automated coding assistant, that dynamically enhances automated code generation accuracy by using an artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning system, such as a large language model (LLM), by continuously learning from user interactions. During application development sessions, the system evaluates user feedback in parallel with code generation tasks to separate subjective personal tastes from objective functional corrections. The system distills and merges functional corrections into an aggregated guidelines document that acts as an evolving set of engineering rules so as to enable …
Policy-Governed Llm Context Virtualization With Tool-Mediated Rehydration For Auditable Cost Reduction, Todd C Kuehnl
Policy-Governed Llm Context Virtualization With Tool-Mediated Rehydration For Auditable Cost Reduction, Todd C Kuehnl
Defensive Publications Series
A policy-governed Large Language Model (LLM) gateway is provided that cuts token spending on large, mixed-context requests by virtualizing high-cost prompt segments into secure pointers and rehydrating them only when needed via controlled tool retrieval. The system is designed to preserve output quality and operational safety through route-aware fail-open controls rather than lossy compression or blind truncation. The result is auditable, per-request cost reduction that supports enterprise-scale artificial intelligence (AI) adoption without requiring application workflow changes.
Misinterpreting Immigration Law, Michael Kagan
Misinterpreting Immigration Law, Michael Kagan
New Mexico Law Review
Although Congress bears primary responsibility for the convoluted nature of America’s immigration laws, immigration law has been rendered even more incoherent through inconsistent interpretation. During the reign of Chevron deference, the federal courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals and various Attorneys General pushed in different directions, with textualist, libertarian, and restrictionist impulses holding sway on different major interpretive questions. The result is that immigration law is more internally incoherent and more divorced from popular opinion than is necessitated by the text of the Immigration and Nationality Act. The end of Chevron deference offers some potential for the federal courts to …
Pixels And Property Rights: Resolving Social Media Ownership Disputes Between Employers And Employees Through Traditional Property Law Frameworks, Brittany Kjerstad Mcknight
Pixels And Property Rights: Resolving Social Media Ownership Disputes Between Employers And Employees Through Traditional Property Law Frameworks, Brittany Kjerstad Mcknight
New Mexico Law Review
Social media accounts have become valuable business assets, yet courts remain divided on how to resolve disputes over their ownership. In employer-employee contexts, some courts have adopted multi-factor tests to determine whether an account belongs to the business or the individual. However, these tests create inconsistent and unpredictable results, leaving businesses and employees uncertain about their rights. Courts should reject ad hoc multi-factor tests and instead rely on traditional legal frameworks, specifically property, contract, and agency law, to resolve social media ownership disputes. By treating social media accounts as non-transferable, revocable licenses governed by contractual terms, courts can apply established …
Into The Black Hole: Private Prison Contractors And The Inspection Of Public Records Act, August M. Ryan
Into The Black Hole: Private Prison Contractors And The Inspection Of Public Records Act, August M. Ryan
New Mexico Law Review
The New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) is a powerful mechanism for government transparency. Although private companies that contract with state agencies are subject to IPRA, the New Mexico Corrections Department and its contractors continually flout their IPRA obligations. Newsome v. Centurion Correctional Healthcare highlights a tension between IPRA’s robust enforcement provisions and its practical application to government contractors. The Newsome opinion, in denying access to records that should have been disclosed, struggles to articulate how public bodies, contractors, and designated records custodians interact under IPRA. This comment proposes an ordered, step-by-step approach to the custodian problem, seeking …

Advances In Research On Methods For Intelligent Identification Of Seismic Facies, Liu Xingye, Yu Peilin, He Hengjun
Coal Geology & Exploration
Background The intelligent identification of seismic facies can significantly improve the efficiency of sedimentary system characterization and hydrocarbon reservoir interpretation. However, influenced by factors such as non-stationary geological bodies, high costs of sample labeling, and limited training samples, conventional methods for intelligent identification are generally insufficient to achieve high identification accuracy and widespread application concurrently. Advances This study presents a systematic review of three types of technologies for the intelligent identification of seismic facies, namely unsupervised, supervised, and semi-supervised learning, with each type including deep learning methods. The three technological types are comparatively verified using 3D seismic data from a …
