Fuzzy-System-Based Correction Of Nonlinearities In Complex Dynamic Plants, Zokhid Ergashboyevich Iskandarov, Tukhtamurod Khayitmurodovich Avezov

Chemical Technology, Control and Management

A method for synthesizing a fuzzy compensating element from the static characteristic of a nonlinear plant is presented. The method transforms the characteristic into a rotated coordinate system, identifies zero crossings and local extreme, maps the characteristic points back to the original coordinates, and uses them to determine the antecedent membership functions and singleton consequents of a zero-order Sugeno inference system. Unlike heuristic rule tuning, the proposed procedure derives the rule base directly from the geometry of the nonlinear characteristic. An adaptive reconfiguration mechanism based on a mismatch indicator is also formulated for operating conditions in which plant parameters vary …

A Multimodal Analysis Of Conflicting Discourses On New Mexican Identity, Nicholas L. Chavez, Fátima Holguín Jun 2026

A Multimodal Analysis Of Conflicting Discourses On New Mexican Identity, Nicholas L. Chavez, Fátima Holguín

Intersecciones Hispánicas: Revista de Cultura, Literatura y Lingüística

We analyze two contrasting discourses on New Mexican identity, as represented in political cartoons from Trever (2021) and García (2018). We show how visual and linguistic elements of the cartoons work together to construct identity through metaphor and metonymy. It was found that Trever (2021) relied on cultural symbols such as the Zia Sun symbol as metonyms for various aspects of New Mexico’s identity, while García (2018) subverted established metaphors for American culture such as the melting pot and Uncle Sam to critique governmental influence on Nuevomexicano (‘New Mexican’) identity formation. Using the critical discourse analysis framework of Fairclough (1995), …

Persaud V. Price Jun 2026

Persaud V. Price

All Decisions

In this licensee holdover in an allegedly unregulated apartment, the court grants a pre-answer motion to dismiss the petition, which pleaded alternate theories of respondent's relationship to the premises—namely that respondent was a licensee or a tenant at will and/or sufferance. The court found that this demonstrated a lack of 'diligent effort to ascertain the nature of the occupants' possession,' which was 'unreasonable under the circumstances.'

336 Grand Concourse Llc V. Miranda

All Decisions

In this nonpayment proceeding, tenant moved to amend her answer and to dismiss the petition on the grounds that the amount demanded had been paid in full. The court granted leave to amend the answer, finding the proposed amendments were neither patently meritless nor prejudicial. The court dismissed the petition, finding that the amount demanded had been paid even accounting for agency payment earmarking rules under RPAPL §731(4), leaving only post-petition arrears outstanding. Landlord's cross-motion to amend the petition to add post-petition arrears was denied as moot, as the proposed amendment sought rent already paid and bore no meaningful relation …

Parametric Modular Answer Set Programs Made Declarative, Jorge Fandinno, Yuliya Lierler, Torsten Schaub Jun 2026

Parametric Modular Answer Set Programs Made Declarative, Jorge Fandinno, Yuliya Lierler, Torsten Schaub

Computer Science Faculty Publications

In this paper, we explore the concept of modularity in first-order answer set programming (ASP). We introduce a new formalism called parametric modular logic programs, which allows defining subprograms with parameters and intensionality statements. We demonstrate how this formalism can capture the semantics of clingo-programs with collective control , a feature that enables structuring and instantiating subprograms. We provide theoretical foundations for modular ASP, illustrate its usefulness, and connect to traditional non-modular ASP.

The Process Of Alcohol-Involved Sexual Assault Disclosure: Examining Disclosure Content And Reactions From Informal Supports, Madison Elle Edwards Jun 2026

The Process Of Alcohol-Involved Sexual Assault Disclosure: Examining Disclosure Content And Reactions From Informal Supports, Madison Elle Edwards

Dissertations and Doctoral Documents, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 2023–

Alcohol-involved sexual violence (SV), in which unwanted sexual contact is attempted or obtained without consent during or after the victim’s alcohol use is a major public health issue among young women. Research consistently shows that alcohol-involved SV can have particularly harmful mental and physical health consequences. Moreover, survivors who were drinking are more likely to receive negative reactions (e.g., blame, minimization) when they disclose their SV experiences to informal supports (e.g., friends, family). These negative reactions are consistently linked to negative psychosocial outcomes. However, little research on negative disclosure reactions has examined the content of survivors’ disclosures. The present study …
