Internet Ethics, American Law, And Jewish Law: A Comparative Overview, Gertrude N. Levine, Samuel J. Levine Jun 2026

Internet Ethics, American Law, And Jewish Law: A Comparative Overview, Gertrude N. Levine, Samuel J. Levine

Journal of Technology Law & Policy

Societies are governed by codes of ethics. In developed societies, parts of these codes form a set of laws, enforceable by legal authorities, with or without assistance from the populace. At times, laws are crafted for the benefit of the powerful members of the society, ensuring preservation of their positions and property, while other constituents may ignore, actively disobey, or challenge laws they believe do not support their ethics. Developing and maintaining appropriate social norms is thus particularly critical for sustaining rapidly changing heterogeneous populaces.

The Internet, devised for the purpose of interconnecting diverse computer networks of research and educational …

Fintech And Disruptive Business Models In Financial Products, Intermediation And Markets-Policy Implications For Financial Regulators, Iris H-Y Chiu Jun 2026

Fintech And Disruptive Business Models In Financial Products, Intermediation And Markets-Policy Implications For Financial Regulators, Iris H-Y Chiu

Journal of Technology Law & Policy

A recent Financial Times survey indicates that the financial services sector (in mainstream terms) is concerned about the disruptive potential of several digital-based technologies as applied to financial services, such as blockchain, big data and robo-advisers. Not to mention that we have already of late witnessed the emergence of high frequency algorithmic trading, novel consumer payment devices, online crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending. Financial technology, which seems to be ushering in an order for upheaval, is defined by Price Waterhouse Coopers as "a dynamic segment at the intersection of the financial services and technology sectors where technology-focused start-ups and new market …

You Can't Hack This: The Regulatory Future Of Cybersecurity In Automobiles, Liz Allison Jun 2026

You Can't Hack This: The Regulatory Future Of Cybersecurity In Automobiles, Liz Allison

Journal of Technology Law & Policy

This Note argues that any new legislation imposing new safety regulations on car manufacturers is unnecessary, and will ultimately create more problems than it solves. First, there are numerous established laws that either already require what some of these propose, or address the issues involved in car hacking. Secondly, as vehicular technology becomes more advanced, so too will the methods available to fix the vulnerabilities within their systems. Finally, the government's inefficiencies and inability to stave off its own cyberattacks makes any type of federal regulations requiring minimum safety protocols a cumbersome option. For these reasons, this Note argues private …

Performative Stability Controller For Agent-Facing Recommendation Systems, Anonymous Jun 2026

Performative Stability Controller For Agent-Facing Recommendation Systems, Anonymous

Defensive Publications Series

Systems and methods are disclosed for stabilizing agent-facing recommendation policies subject to performative feedback. Interaction data is collected from an exposed population receiving a deployed recommendation policy and a holdout population receiving baseline recommendations. A first predictor trained on exposed data and a second predictor trained on holdout data are compared to compute a performative effect magnitude, including a divergence between predicted distributions. Counterfactual demand estimation produces item-level recommendation dependence scores and contamination ratios separating organic and induced demand. A self-referential loop detector evaluates directionality using correlation and Granger causality and may apply Fourier analysis to detect feedback resonance. Stability …

Zipf-Aware Adaptive Cache Hierarchy Configuration For Storage-Backed Embedding Systems, Anonymous Jun 2026

Zipf-Aware Adaptive Cache Hierarchy Configuration For Storage-Backed Embedding Systems, Anonymous

Defensive Publications Series

Techniques are described for configuring a multi-tier cache hierarchy for SSD-backed embedding stores based on measured or predicted Zipf access skew. Live embedding index accesses are monitored to estimate a Zipf exponent using a sliding window and a Hill estimator, and temporal reuse may be estimated from inter-batch overlap. Cache sizes for multiple tiers are derived using closed-form Zipf working-set relationships for target hit rates, including handling for exponents greater than one and approximations near one. Cache sizes may be dynamically reconfigured at runtime using smoothed exponent estimates and a deviation threshold, without restarting processing; evicted entries from an upper …

Object Redaction For High-Resolution Images Using Geometrically Aligned Generative Patches, Mira Leung Jun 2026

Object Redaction For High-Resolution Images Using Geometrically Aligned Generative Patches, Mira Leung

Defensive Publications Series

Redacting objects from high-resolution, wide-aspect-ratio images, such as panoramas, can be challenging, as certain automated methods may introduce resolution degradation, unpredictable cropping, or visual artifacts. Systems and methods can utilize an iterative pipeline that combines object detection with constrained generative inpainting and geometric alignment. A process may, for example, identify and mask target objects, provide a version of the image with blurred masked areas to a generative model for inpainting, and then geometrically align the generative model's output to correct for distortions. The aligned output can be used as a patch, selectively compositing the generated content into the masked regions …

Defensive Publications Series

Verification of document packets for regulatory compliance may rely on manual review, which can be inefficient and susceptible to error. Some automated tools may not adequately compare data across diverse structured forms and unstructured evidence within a packet. A multi-agent artificial intelligence system can use specialized agents, which may leverage large language models, to automate processes such as the ingestion, classification, extraction, and validation of information. The system can employ a configurable source-of-truth hierarchy and multi-tiered matching logic to validate data. A human-in-the-loop mechanism can present flagged discrepancies or unverified fields to a human specialist for review and adjudication. This …

The Substrate Pushback Principle: Replacing Particle Dark Matter With Holographic Confinement Fields, Christopher L. Eckes Jun 2026

The Substrate Pushback Principle: Replacing Particle Dark Matter With Holographic Confinement Fields, Christopher L. Eckes

Defensive Publications Series

This paper introduces the Substrate Pushback Principle, a theoretical framework that replaces particle-centric dark matter models with an emergent informational cosmology. Instead of introducing hypothetical ultra-light bosons, we demonstrate that galactic dark matter halos can be modeled as non-local confinement fields generated by the holographic limits of spacetime. By mapping the baryonic stress-energy tensor to an information-load metric bounded by Bekenstein limits, we show that high-density galactic cores trigger an inward, geometric stabilization pressure from the spacetime substrate. This computational surface tension inherits the exact macroscopic wave mechanics of contemporary Fuzzy Dark Matter (FDM) models. Furthermore, by defining the substrate's …

Spatially Modulated Wavefront Quantum Key Distribution With Non-Local Quantum Zeno Dynamic Phase-Collapse (Geometric Wavefront Scytale With Entanglement-Triggered Self-Immolation), Johny Manuel-Devadoss, Jayden Johnson

Defensive Publications Series

This disclosure describes a method and system for securing free-space Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) against intercept-and-resend, quantum cloning, and wide-aperture phase-matching attacks by employing multi-spatial mode quantum states combined with real-time, non-local phase collapse. Rather than encoding cryptographic keys in conventional linear single-photon streams, the system distributes information across the Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) and radial phase profiles of a macroscopic, spatially sculpted wavefront through a dynamically varying Topological Transposition matrix, M(t). This approach renders the encoded information inherently orthogonal to conventional linear eavesdropping apertures while enabling high-dimensional quantum state encoding.

To protect against partial interception and coherent cloning attempts, …

The Proletarian Moment In World Literature, Anna Björk Einarsdóttir Jun 2026

The Proletarian Moment In World Literature, Anna Björk Einarsdóttir

CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture

During the interwar period (1918–1939), an international literary movement emerged in relation to internationalist and socialist politics and political struggles. Writers around the world saw themselves as contributors to a new proletarian moment within the historical unfolding of world literature. This movement was international, and writers situated on the peripheries of both the capitalist core and the emerging socialist world looked toward revolutionary Russia and other centers of the socialist world. This paper focuses on three such authors, the American Richard Wright, the Argentinian Roberto Arlt, and the Icelander Halldór Laxness. During the interwar period, all three were involved in …

Zheng Zhenduo And The Problem Of Priority In World Literature, Daniel M. Dooghan Jun 2026

Zheng Zhenduo And The Problem Of Priority In World Literature, Daniel M. Dooghan

CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture

This essay investigates how Zheng Zhenduo (郑振铎 1898–1958) developed a theory of world literature in response to threats to China both politically from without and culturally from within. Centered on an analysis of his 1922 article “A View on the Unification of Literature” (Wenxue de tongyiguan 文學的統一觀), the essay argues that although Zheng believed like many of his contemporaries in the transformative effects of reading world literature in translation, that does not constitute the entirety of his theorization of world literature. Instead, he accepted the first-move advantage of other national literatures in defining both world literary standards and literature …

Beyond The Great Wall: Zheng Zhenduo’S “Unification” Of World Literature At The Juncture Of China’S May Fourth And Post-World War I Era, Wenxin Liang

CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture

This article examines Chinese literary scholar Zheng Zhenduo’s 1922 essay “A View on the Unification of Literature” (Wenxue de tongyiguan 文學的統一觀) as a counter-narrative to both imperial isolationism and post-World War I nationalist fragmentation. Writing at the intersection of China’s May Fourth Movement and the global post-war crisis, Zheng developed a theory of world literature that challenged both Goethean Eurocentrism and the compartmentalization of comparative literary studies. Through systematic analysis of Zheng’s theoretical writings, editorial projects, and pioneering work on folk literature (suwenxue 俗文學), this article demonstrates that Zheng’s project of “the unification of literature” operated on three …

An Arc Stretched Between East And West: World (Or Universal?) Literature In Maxim Gorky’S Publishing Utopias, Francesca Lazzarin Jun 2026

An Arc Stretched Between East And West: World (Or Universal?) Literature In Maxim Gorky’S Publishing Utopias, Francesca Lazzarin

CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture

The Vsemirnaia Literatura publishing house was founded in Petrograd by Maxim Gorky less than a year after the October Revolution. Aligned with the objectives of the new regime, its mission was to translate and publish a substantial body of European and Asian poetry and prose, thereby contributing to the broad cultural education of the emerging Soviet generations. These ambitions clearly reflect a key element of Gorky’s conception of culture as well: for Gorky, culture in its broadest sense (encompassing literature, art, music, and science) had the potential to unite humanity under the ideals of peace and harmony. Within this new …

Reconsidering Karl Marx’S Concept Of World Literature, Kenneth Cheng Jun 2026

Reconsidering Karl Marx’S Concept Of World Literature, Kenneth Cheng

CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture

It is widely assumed that Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels regarded world literature as an epiphenomenal product of the capitalist world market, and therefore as a symptom of rather than potential cure to the crisis of modern society. However, this conflicts with the fact that they designated the Communist Manifesto itself as a world-literary production—the joint work of communists of various nationalities—and opposed it to the national limitations of German socialist literature. This article challenges existing interpretations by outlining how Marx and Engels incorporated the humanistic idealism of the Goethean Weltliteratur tradition into the theoretical framework of historical materialism. It …

Deterministic, Model-Independent Grounding-Integrity Mechanisms For Retrieval-Augmented And Agentic Language-Model Systems, Roberto A. Wenzel Jun 2026

Deterministic, Model-Independent Grounding-Integrity Mechanisms For Retrieval-Augmented And Agentic Language-Model Systems, Roberto A. Wenzel

Defensive Publications Series

Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and tool-using LLM agents routinely emit citations that purport to tie a claim to a retrieved source, but a well-known failure mode is the dangling or fabricated citation that resolves to nothing. Existing mitigations largely rely on the model policing itself or on probabilistic post-hoc fact-checking. This disclosure describes a family of deterministic, model-independent mechanisms that make citation and gap integrity an invariant of the system rather than a behavior to be hoped for: (A) a stable cross-tool evidence registry with primary/derived provenance and a detect-bounce-strip citation-lifecycle guard, including compound-citation surgery, carried across human-feedback revisions; (B) conversation …

Dynamically Constructing Geographically Optimized Routing Graphs From Unstructured Multi-Modal Media, Nikita Agarwal Jun 2026

Dynamically Constructing Geographically Optimized Routing Graphs From Unstructured Multi-Modal Media, Nikita Agarwal

Defensive Publications Series

A geographically optimized routing graph is dynamically constructed from unstructured multi-modal media. A transcript is generated from audiovisual data of a media item. Words or phrases satisfying geographic spatial anchoring criteria are identified and associated with a first geographic location. Visual analysis operations are performed on corresponding video frames to identify a second geographic location. A modality conflict is detected based on differences between the first and second geographic locations. The conflict is resolved by applying deterministic weighting to generate resolved geographic locations. A routing graph is generated by sequencing the resolved geographic locations based on physical geographic proximity independent …

Defensive Publication: Batch-Aware Cross-Iteration Cache Reuse Prediction For Ssd-Backed Embedding Training, Anonymous Jun 2026

Defensive Publication: Batch-Aware Cross-Iteration Cache Reuse Prediction For Ssd-Backed Embedding Training, Anonymous

Defensive Publications Series

Systems and methods are described for reducing SSD read volume during embedding table training by performing batch-aware cross-iteration cache reuse prediction. For a next training batch, a controller tests batch indices against a probabilistic cached-index membership structure representing indices likely resident in an embedding cache based on one or more prior iterations. A differential prefetch set is formed from indices predicted to be uncached, and an SSD prefetch is issued for only that set while maintaining batch-structure metadata such as offsets. The system may compute overlap statistics between consecutive batches using GPU-accelerated operations, track moving averages over a sliding window, …

Defensive Publication: Closed-Loop Feedback-Driven Dynamic Tier Sizing For Multi-Level Embedding Cache Hierarchies, Anonymous Jun 2026

Defensive Publication: Closed-Loop Feedback-Driven Dynamic Tier Sizing For Multi-Level Embedding Cache Hierarchies, Anonymous

Defensive Publications Series

Techniques are disclosed for closed-loop dynamic sizing of a multi-level embedding cache hierarchy. Runtime hit-rate statistics are monitored for multiple tiers including a GPU HBM cache, a host DRAM block cache for an SSD-backed database, and an SSD read-ahead buffer. A marginal-benefit estimator determines, for each tier, an estimated reduction in expected access latency per unit of additional memory, using smoothed measurements and optionally combining Zipf-model fitting with finite-difference probing. A feedback controller, including a PID control law, computes bounded tier size adjustments that reallocate a fixed total memory budget to reduce marginal-benefit imbalance across tiers. Phase transitions may be …
