The Multi-Static Integrated Sensing For Predictive Mitigation Of Network Beam Blockages, Mohit Chandra Jul 2026

The Multi-Static Integrated Sensing For Predictive Mitigation Of Network Beam Blockages, Mohit Chandra

Defensive Publications Series

Systems and methods can provide a cooperative sensing framework where network access nodes can operate in a multi-static configuration using integrated sensing and communication capabilities. In this framework, one node may transmit a signal while multiple, geographically separated nodes capture reflections from an object. This data can be processed at an edge computing layer to model the object's kinematic profile and predict its trajectory. This prediction may be used to trigger a pre-emptive remediation action, such as a make-before-break handover to an alternate path, which could mitigate connectivity loss before the active communication link is degraded and contribute to improved …

Dlp-Gated Ephemeral Credential Minting For Webrtc Realtime Voice Sessions With Tracked-Mode Fallback, Gustavo Matthew Assuncao Jul 2026

Dlp-Gated Ephemeral Credential Minting For Webrtc Realtime Voice Sessions With Tracked-Mode Fallback, Gustavo Matthew Assuncao

Defensive Publications Series

Realtime, low-latency voice assistants are increasingly built on WebRTC: the browser negotiates a peer connection directly with the model provider's realtime endpoint and streams audio over SRTP/DTLS, bypassing the application server entirely for the media path. This delivers sub-second latency but destroys the enforcement point that data-loss-prevention (DLP) and cloud-access-security-broker (CASB) systems rely on. A prompt-DLP proxy inspects HTTP request and response bodies; it can neither decrypt nor even observe a WebRTC audio stream that never traverses it. The result is an enforcement blind spot precisely where the most sensitive channel — a natural-language voice conversation with a persona that …

Pre-Answer Entitlement Gate For Ai-Answered Phone Lines With Subscription-Shape-Differentiated Fail Policy And Metering-Lag Reinforcement, Gustavo Matthew Assuncao Jul 2026

Pre-Answer Entitlement Gate For Ai-Answered Phone Lines With Subscription-Shape-Differentiated Fail Policy And Metering-Lag Reinforcement, Gustavo Matthew Assuncao

Defensive Publications Series

This publication discloses, in enabling detail, a pre-answer entitlement gate for telephone lines that are answered by an autonomous AI agent (an AI "receptionist" or voice bot) and billed on a metered subscription. The distinguishing constraint is architectural: the platform runs on top of a Communications-Platform-as-a-Service (CPaaS) provider that emits its usage/charging signal only when the call completes. There is no mid-call credit-control channel available at the CPaaS layer — the platform cannot ask the carrier to reserve, decrement, or terminate a call against a balance while the call is live, the way a telecom Online Charging System (OCS) can. …

A Chorus Of Voices: Student And Teacher Shared Dialogical Experiences And Insights, Jennifer Anne Reynolds Jul 2026

A Chorus Of Voices: Student And Teacher Shared Dialogical Experiences And Insights, Jennifer Anne Reynolds

Theses and Dissertations

Dialogue is inherently tied to learning, but as a secondary English Language Arts (ELA) classroom teacher it can be difficult to facilitate classroom dialogue that provides authentic learning opportunities for every student. I wanted to learn more about the student experience, so I implemented an action research study to increase my understanding of how students learn through dialogue. My research question was: How does collaborative languaging, to facilitate student-teacher interaction, lead to improved classroom mediation, authentic learning, dialogue, and development? I conducted transformative action research in my classroom, focusing on students enrolled in my general English 10 classes. In an …

Rethinking Vaginal Microbiome Resilience: A Conceptual Multi-Omic Framework, Brittnee Cagle-White, Rob E. Carpenter, Alaina Vincent, Ellen Kominek, Andrew Krouse Jul 2026

Rethinking Vaginal Microbiome Resilience: A Conceptual Multi-Omic Framework, Brittnee Cagle-White, Rob E. Carpenter, Alaina Vincent, Ellen Kominek, Andrew Krouse

Human Resource Development Faculty Publications and Presentations

The vaginal microbiome is often interpreted through static taxonomic patterns. Yet microbial composition alone does not explain why some communities resist perturbation, recover after disruption, or transition toward dysbiosis. This narrative review synthesizes evidence that vaginal microbiome stability is shaped by endocrine phase, epithelial substrate availability, microbial functional capacity, mucosal tone and candidate host modifiers. High-estrogen states, particularly pregnancy, are associated with epithelial maturation, glycogen accumulation, low vaginal pH, and Lactobacillus-dominant communities, whereas postpartum, lactational, menopausal, and other hypoestrogenic states are associated with reduced epithelial support and increased vulnerability to diverse anaerobe-rich configurations. We review the linking of the estrogen–glycogen–Lactobacillus …

Efficient Edge Implementation Of Midasnet For Real-Time Depth Estimation In Indoor Robotics, Muhammed Yasi̇n Adiyaman, İsmai̇l Fai̇k Başkaya

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Real-time depth estimation is crucial in many vision-related tasks, including autonomous driving, 3D reconstruction, robotics, and simultaneous localization and mapping. In recent years, many methods have been proposed to solve depth maps from images by utilizing different modality setups like monocular vision, binocular vision, or sensor fusion. However, for real-time deployment on edge devices, complex methods are not suitable due to latency constraints and limited computation capacity. For edge implementation, models should be simple, minimal in size, and hardware-friendly. Considering these factors, we implemented MiDaSNet, which works on the simplest setup of monocular vision and utilizes hardware-friendly convolutional neural network-based …

Comparable Outcomes, Divergent Learning Pathways: Comparing Metacognitive Reflection And Practice Problems In Organic Chemistry, Jitendra D. Belani

College of Life Sciences Faculty Papers

Organic Chemistry I presents significant challenges for students, requiring both conceptual understanding and effective study strategies. Two commonly used approaches to support learning are structured practice problems and metacognitive reflection activities; however, these strategies are rarely compared directly within the same course context. In this study, students enrolled in a postbaccalaureate Organic Chemistry I course (n = 31) were randomly assigned to one of two low-stakes interventions: weekly practice problem sets or structured reflection surveys focused on study strategies. Student performance was evaluated using three midterm examinations, a cumulative final exam, and overall course grades, along with measures of participation. …

A Holistic Approach For Workforce Scheduling And Routing, Kerem Can Manalp, Ansel Kaplan Erol, Kutluhan Erol, Cem Evrendi̇lek

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

The workforce scheduling and routing problem (WSRP) involves assigning tasks across multiple locations while accounting for varying travel times, service durations, time windows, and skill requirements in a wide range of industries, from healthcare to telecommunications. This paper presents a mixed-integer programming model for the WSRP that balances the trade-off between cost and customer satisfaction using a score-generation function and subsequently evaluates the trade-off between solution quality and computation time for several algorithms on well-known datasets. We demonstrate that our model effectively balances cost, service-level agreement satisfaction, and task priorities while providing high-quality solutions in a timely manner. Observing that …

State Engagement In Trump Accounts: A Policy-Design And Implementation Framework, Center For Social Development, Washington University In St. Louis, Pennsylvania Treasury Department

Center for Social Development Research

Trump Accounts are IRAs for American children, with a $1,000 federal seed contribution available for those born from 2025 through 2028. Under the current design, families must take two separate steps to request an account. Children whose families do not complete both steps will receive neither the account nor the federal deposit. They also will be excluded from employer matches, philanthropic contributions, and other general contributions to Trump Accounts. The current opt-in design will leave behind the children who need the program most. States are well positioned to address this gap. This Policy Brief proposes a framework for state engagement …

A Revenue-Driven Approach For Enhanced Task Utilization In Vehicular Cloud Computing, Ashish Singh Saluja, Satyabrata Das, Sanjib Kumar Nayak, Sohan Kumar Pande Jul 2026

A Revenue-Driven Approach For Enhanced Task Utilization In Vehicular Cloud Computing, Ashish Singh Saluja, Satyabrata Das, Sanjib Kumar Nayak, Sohan Kumar Pande

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Vehicular networks support intelligent transportation through vehicle-to-roadside Units (V2R) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication but face challenges from dynamic topologies, limited RSU coverage, and bandwidth scarcity, which impact service delivery and revenue. RDA-ITU addresses these challenges by integrating V2R and V2V paradigms to maximize RSU revenue, enhance service availability, and improve system efficiency. It dynamically allocates services based on real-time network conditions and vehicle mobility, leveraging V2V relays to optimize both RSU-direct and cooperative communication. Through extensive simulations, RDA-ITU significantly outperforms four baselines: RBSM, VVMM-U, VVMM-LW, and VVMM-MA. It achieves 81.1% higher total revenue, 154.8% more completed requests, and 103.6% higher …

Scalefusion: Hierarchical Feature Aggregation For Unified Multiscale Object Detection, Ayşenur Yaylaci, Berru Kaya, Mehmet Kiliçarslan Jul 2026

Scalefusion: Hierarchical Feature Aggregation For Unified Multiscale Object Detection, Ayşenur Yaylaci, Berru Kaya, Mehmet Kiliçarslan

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Detecting objects across a wide range of scales, particularly small ones, remains a significant challenge in computer vision. Existing methods often improve small object detection at the cost of performance on larger objects or introduce significant computational overhead through external techniques like image slicing. This paper introduces ScaleFusion, a novel, unified, end-to-end object detection architecture designed to provide robust performance across all scales within a single model. The core of our approach is a hierarchical feature aggregation strategy structured like a tree. ScaleFusion processes an image by running a shared backbone network only on fine-grained patches at the lowest level …

The Primary Care Brief Intervention Competency Assessment Tool (Bi-Cat): Examining Reliability And Validity, Arielle Guillod Jul 2026

The Primary Care Brief Intervention Competency Assessment Tool (Bi-Cat): Examining Reliability And Validity, Arielle Guillod

Dissertations

Within primary care, the Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) model integrates behavioral health services into medical settings through brief, population‑based interventions delivered by behavioral health consultants (BHCs). Although effective performance in this role requires competencies distinct from traditional mental health practice, few psychometrically sound tools exist to assess clinical skills in primary care. The Brief Intervention Competency Assessment Tool (BICAT) is commonly used for this purpose but lacks published evidence supporting its reliability and validity. This dissertation examined the psychometric properties of the BICAT across two studies. Study 1 evaluated factor structure, internal consistency, and construct validity in a heterogeneous …

Optimized Immunoprecipitation Identifies Candidate Proteins Associated With Eyespot Protein Eye2 In Chlamydomonas Reinhardtii , Esra Öztürk, Telsa Mittelmeier, Carol Dieckmann, Atakan Sukatar

Turkish Journal of Botany

The EYE2 protein is essential for eyespot assembly and localization in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, yet the molecular mechanisms underlying its function remain poorly understood. In this study, we present a systematic evaluation and optimization of an immunoprecipitation (IP)-based workflow for isolating EYE2 and its associated protein complexes. Key methodological variables including strain selection, flagella removal, and detergent concentration were compared using western blotting to determine optimal extraction conditions. The combination of the cell wall-deficient cw15 strain, 4% digitonin extraction, and pH shock-mediated deflagellation significantly enhanced IP specificity and reproducibility. Using this optimized protocol, EYE2 and its potential interaction partners were isolated …

Beyond Static Measures: The Predictive Validity And Classification Accuracy Of A Dynamic Assessment Of Decoding For Early Elementary, Bridgett Bakula Jul 2026

Beyond Static Measures: The Predictive Validity And Classification Accuracy Of A Dynamic Assessment Of Decoding For Early Elementary, Bridgett Bakula

Theses and Dissertations

Early and accurate identification of children at risk for reading difficulty is essential to prevent long-term academic failure, yet traditional static assessments often struggle to distinguish between a true reading disorder and a lack of prior instruction. This is particularly evident in the early grades, where floor effects and cultural/linguistic biases limit the classification accuracy of traditional screeners. This study investigated the predictive validity and structural utility of the modifiability index of a dynamic assessment (DA) of decoding, administered in kindergarten. Unlike static measures that evaluate "already actualized" knowledge, DA measures a student's learning potential and modifiability, or the capacity …

Longitudinal Patterns In Stygobiont Distribution In The Hyporheic Zone Of The Karst Spring-Fed San Marcos River, Texas, Usa, Kenneth Sparks, Benjamin F. Schwartz, Safra Altman, Kathryn E. Perez, Zoey B. Chanin, Caroline Mierzejewski, Benjamin T. Hutchins

School of Integrative Biological & Chemical Sciences Faculty Publications

Groundwater-obligate taxa (stygobionts) exhibit variable degrees of habitat specialization, ranging from those restricted to single micro-habitats to generalists occurring in a broad range of habitat types. The karstic Edwards Aquifer is the most biodiverse and well-studied groundwater habitat in the continental United States, but some Edwards Aquifer-associated species also occupy the hyporheic zone of rivers downstream from karst. The goals of this research were to 1) assess the potential of the off-karst hyporheic zone as habitat for ‘karst’ species and 2) to determine how stygobiont richness, diversity, and abundance related to distance from karst in the hyporheic zone of a …

Promises Fulfilled: 114-Year-Old Alelia Murphy’S Life Of Faith And Resilience, Jacqueline B. Koonce

The Journal of Faith, Education, and Community

Alelia Murphy was the oldest living person in the United States, turning 114 in July 2019 until her death in November 2019. She and her family credit her longevity to her faith in God. This premise is explored through her words as she stated she had not seen everyone she needed to see and compared that statement to Simeon from the Bible who did not die until he saw the Messiah. Alelia Murphy also had not seen everything. She was seeing the relative success of her much admired, former President Barack Obama, and she had just met me, her great …

Our Children Are Sacred: Faith, Disability Justice, And Educational Hope, Charles E. Becknell Jr., Pricella Morris, Monique Matute-Chavarria, Deirdre A. Williams

The Journal of Faith, Education, and Community

This manuscript examines how Black families interpret dis/ability through faith, caregiving, and communal life using Sacred Narrative Inquiry (SNI), a collaborative approach that treats family stories as sources of sacred and cultural knowledge. Grounded in disability theology and informed by Black liberation theology and Womanist epistemology, the study explores how families understand dis/ability as sacred and embodied, shaped by struggle, endurance, and hope. Through shared storytelling and collective interpretation, the analysis identifies recurring patterns of early moral formation, embodied knowledge that precedes institutional recognition, faith as a sustaining practice under constraint, and moments of recognition that affirm dignity and interrupt …

Teaching As Testimony: Examining The Relationship Between High School Teachers’ Faith Identity And Pedagogy, Candace M. Kyles Jul 2026

Teaching As Testimony: Examining The Relationship Between High School Teachers’ Faith Identity And Pedagogy, Candace M. Kyles

The Journal of Faith, Education, and Community

Teaching has long been understood within Christian theology as a vocational practice shaped by faith, moral formation, and lived discipleship. Yet within U.S. public schooling, the Separation of Church and State restricts explicit engagement with religion, often rendering educators’ faith identities invisible within school buildings and classrooms. This covertness does not eliminate the formative influence of faith; rather, it obscures how teachers’ faith identities inform their ethical reasoning, teaching practices, and pedagogical choices. When faith remains unexamined, it may operate implicitly, shaping classroom interactions without the benefit of critical reflection or institutional support.

Despite the prominence of culturally responsive pedagogy …
